Concentrate on November!
Don't let the special election in Florida throw off you ambition and confidence. Many of you, including myself, felt the same way after the special elections in Colorado and South Carolina in 2013. Remember what happened in November of that year? We had wins in most of the elections, such as New York City, Virginia, and Boston.
Fight for November! rally the troops and GOTV. We have a very good chance to win senate seats in Kentucky, Georgia, Maine, West Virginia, North Carolina, Alaska, and Nebraska. Yes, that Nebraska. Support Dave Domina for that seat.
Volunteer, donate, do whatever it takes to get the grassroots movement going. Rally the troops and move full steam ahead.
Stay alert, stay active.

8. Florida, tis tis
another nut case goes to Washington even for a short period. I've read that Gerrymandering is part of this district. Someone needs to file suit and bring this to the courts.

10. Unfortunately
The redistricting made this district less Repuke. We should have won this one. This is irritating and frustrating.

20. The especially sucky part of this
is that PBO won this district both times and redistricting made it slightly more tilted towards our side. This should have been ours.....no idea WTF happened. An R+1 district should be ours for the taking with the current insanity from the Republicans, this is disheartening......GOTV in November ****!

PPP Poll: Sink leading Jolly in FL special election. Poised to take down this TeaPublican.
Released just one hour ago. (See link below.)
Sink is up 48% to 45% with the Libertarian polling 6%. Sink is beating him in early voting and is CRUSHING him with the Indies. And that Indy vote is what is scaring he crap out of the TeaPubs because it is a BAD sign for them in their gubernatorial race.

the other polls and indications. This needs to be posted everywhere to put that "We've lost it." feeling in the guts of the TeaPubs.

Like 2010 DEMOCRATS are to ENTIRELY TO BLAME ! Too many REFUSED TO VOTE in FL ! Sickening !
I guess there are still a lot of Democrats who like to take it up the you-know-what. There is ONE main reason they BLEW that election down there in FL. Too many Democrats refused to get off their lazy god damned asses and go to the polls.
Thanks to all who worked hard on it as always. But face it, this was BLOWN. They were up seven points just weeks ago. They were ahead in the polls narrowly as of yesterday. They were winning the early vote. What happened? On ELECTION DAY more RePUKES got off their butts, as ****ing usual, and went to the polls. Too many Democrats didn't. It is as plain and simple as that.
This guy Jolly was a ****ing lobbyist corporate ****ing toady asshole. He was also a SHITTY candidate. And they GAVE IT TO HIM.
*** The FL Dem Party better get their SHIT together too. The rank and file should demand that those SUCKHOLES running things down there get the **** OUT and replace them with people who know what the hell they're doing. They SUCK from everything I have heard. ***
The DNC and DCCC better step the **** up and make some heads roll over this one. NO EXCUSES. NONE ! Someone needs to get ****ing FIRED and NOW.

DNC Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz’s Statement on Special Election in Florida’s 13th District
WASHINGTON, D.C. – After tonight’s special election to represent Florida’s 13th District in Congress, DNC Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz released the following statement:
“Republican special interest groups poured in millions to hold onto a Republican congressional district that they’ve comfortably held for nearly 60 years. Tonight, Republicans fell short of their normal margin in this district because the agenda they are offering voters has a singular focus - that a majority of voters oppose - repealing the Affordable Care Act that would return us to the same old broken health care system.
“While tonight Democrats didn’t win, we are proud of Alex and the race she ran based on a vision of opportunity for all and an agenda that would grow the middle class and protect Florida’s families.â€###

Democratic loss in Florida special election: omen for November? Yes, I believe it is. :-)
In the Democratic playbook, Alex Sink was going to show her party how to overcome public unhappiness with Obamacare – and its author, President Obama – by winning a tossup congressional district in the biggest battleground state, Florida.
That didn’t happen. Ms. Sink, initially the better-known and better-funded candidate, lost to first-time candidate David Jolly (R), a Washington lobbyist and former aide to the late Rep. Bill Young (R), whose St. Petersburg-centered seat he will now occupy.
Mr. Jolly didn’t win by much: 48.5 percent to Sink’s 46.6 percent, with Libertarian candidate Lucas Overby taking 4.8 percent. But a win is a win, and Democrats are left scrambling for a Plan B as they head into a challenging midterm election season. Retaking control of the House now looks even more unlikely; holding onto the Senate remains the Democrats’ primary imperative.
“Dems should not try to spin this loss,†tweeted Democratic strategist Paul Begala. “We have to redouble our efforts for 2014. Too much at stake. #noexcuses.â€

1. The real fight is keeping the Senate. We're not going to win the House in 2014.
Our base only shows up in presidential elections. Sigh. Cry me a river.

8. wait, a Republican lobbyist insider wins a narrow election in FL against the favored Dem?
not worth the untraceable ballots it was stolen with. There is no democracy since 2000 (at least)
Wonder why she forgot that dems outspent Jolly by almost 4-1?
It was close because the libertarian wacko drained off 5% of the vote, from halfwits who think libertarianism is a viable alternative.
As always, the libertarian candidate was a democrat tool, not unlike the despicable Ross Perot, who elected Clinton in 1992 by draining off the simpleminded margins of the Republican base.
Before WE get too happy, let's consider a few things:
--Democrats are in it for the long game. They'd rather lose a few seats here and there (and this would have been a pickup, not a loss) in the midterms and gain them all back (and the White House) in the generals.
--This WAS in fact a GOP seat prior to yesterday. We "gained" nothing.
--The margin of victory was less than 2 percent.
--Turnout for special elections, like midterms, tends to be lighter than elections in presidential election years. Yesterday was no exception, with just under 40 percent of voters casting ballots.
--Young was elected for 42 years not for any conservative values per se, but because as Chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee, he had a BIG say in brining home federal money to his district.
Enjoy the moment. But only for a moment.
I think that one of the major factors in this was the fact that Carl pointed out--Sink's campaign outspent Jolly's by a large margin. One of the members of the deer camp I belong to (a serious liberal who is the camp's treasurer--hasn't stolen any, because the taxes always get paid--and he's usually good for comic relief) is all excited about the prospects of unseating Rep. Chris Gibson in NY, saying that Gibson's presumptive opponent is a millionaire. If this campaign proved anything, it's that money in campaigns cannot fix the monstrosity that is Obamacare.
Wasn't there also redistricting that made it more favorable to dems?
Cindie
We should have won this one.

6. This election loss means nothing for us
I wouldn't worry about trying to defend the ACA either, it is here to stay. The huge majority of Americans never had a big problem with our previous health care system and they won't have a problem with this one, so no point in dwelling on it.
Concentrate on jobs and bettering the average persons daily life now and we can finish taking the House in 2016.

Russian forces are massing on the Ukrainian border, and our Top Diplomat (who served in Viet Nam) says his first priority is climate change.
You are in a pretty bad political situation when you think your strongest selling point is global warming.

With this adimn. changing the narrative is the only way to keep Obumbles out of the news cycle.
Obama is now talking about changing the rules on OT pay for management employees. I'm sure that affects as many people as his raising the minimum wage for federal contracted employees did. He's losing a lot of the lower middle income vote. I guess he is trying to save the upper middle income bracket.

Don't worry, any time now 0bama is going to pivot and focus like a laser on jobs. At least until the next shiny object sends him chasing after it.
