....no one gives a shit. I'm actually sad for you. No one cares. No one's heads are exploding. The only people who get worked up over television shows, ironically, are you assholes.
-
I enjoy science shows if they're well done and not politically biased. Unfortunately, given who the host is, I'm sure Cosmos will swing wildly left when it suits his purpose of misleading people for political reasons.
-
Not watching it. Don't care for the host.
-
I'm DVRing it, may watch, may not.

Same here. Don't care.
In fact, this should be a small queue for you, primitives. We at CC represent the larger spectrum of conservatism. Conservatives just don't have "heads are exploding" moments. So unless you see us over here at CC saying things like "my head is exploding," then conservatives around the world are not having heads that are exploding. You're making it up when you say that, and it makes you look even more stupid than you already are.

Given who is hosting the show, instantly turned me against it.
-
I watched it and other than some semi-cool graphics it was nothing special.
The show is covering ground that has been trampled by others, there
is nothing fresh or new.
I love science/space series and will go out of my way to watch them but if
this doesn't pick up in the next 2 episodes, I'm out.
I like/liked "How the Universe Works" on the Discovery Channel. I'm willing
to bet they have already covered everything that will be on "Cosmos".
-
Look, I don't even know what all this fuss is about. And, USA4ME is right, we don't have exploding heads moments.

It's a space odyssey series, written by Carl Sagan.
According to the Washington comPost, it supposedly reconciles science (big bang theory) and religion.
It's being distributed by FOX on several of their entertainment channels.
-
They dug up Carl Sagan?
Yeah, that's pretty much how much I care about the remake. Typical Hollywood--hasn't had an original idea in at least 30 years.
-
Haven't seen it. I don't even know who the host is.

Neil Degrasse Tyson.
Could have been worse... they could have gone with Bill Nye.
-
What the scientist are seeing and studying at the far reaches of the universe,....happened billions of years ago....so what's happening now dudes?

Never heard of him.

Never heard of him.
She is the 'scientist' with the bow tie who makes awkward antisocial mega-geek/professional sciency types uncomfortable.
-
Oh, OK, a "she'! :thatsright:
Never heard of her.
:-)

With respect to the DUgasms over Bill Nye, my first exposure to him was on a show called "Almost Live," which was a ripoff of SCTV based in the Pacific Northwest. It is hard to take him seriously as a "scientist," since I'M a scientist, and I don't have to walk like around like some kind of dipshit calling myself "Science Guy."

Frankly, I give the actor who played Beakman in Beakman's World more credit as a scientist. Anyway, Bill Nye started off as a respected mechanical engineer, then once he ended up doing the science guy bit, he became good buddies with Ed Begley Jr. who turned him into an environut.

:agree: :yeahthat:
It's kinda hard to think of him as "the Science guy", when he did far more sketches on Almost Live as "Speed Walker". :thatsright:

I am far more likely to call him "Thyroid Guy."

Drop the "y", and I agree wholeheartedly. He always has been a bit of a self righteous 'roid, IMHO. :-)

All of which to say, people who are productive, who aren't ruled by politics and political culture, don't give a diddly-crap about ANYTHING on TV, let alone something specific on TV. The last time my "head exploded" was when I was a teenage with a horrible pimple. THAT head exploded, and it was gone after a few days.
I don't think DUmmies comprehend the actual, productive world around them.
-
Neil Degrasse Tyson is also real cozy with PrezBO.
-
Why are the DUmmies watching Nat Geo channel anyway? It's owned by Fox and Rupert Murdock. :-)

Not only Nat Geo but Fox owns about 30% of HULU also.
So while some of the DUmmies are trying to keep from putting 1 thin dime in Murdock's pocket they have no choice.
Motley Fool has a good article on just what Fox is up to with this remake of Cosmos. It's all about making a few dollars and branding.
Which is a good thing.
Why Fox’s ‘Cosmos’ Is a Smart Risk
The TV industry is changing -- what once was a big success may now no longer be as viable. As a result companies will do anything to boost their ratings and in turn their financial bottom lines. Fox (NASDAQ: FOXA ) has embraced this concept like no other and tonight its first of many 2014 investments into "event programming" begins with Cosmos: A Space Time Odyssey.
