Title: World Trade Center Owner Scraps Rebuilding Schedule

NEW YORK —  The World Trade Center's owner on Monday scrapped the schedule for the prolonged rebuilding of the site of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, saying nearly every project is delayed and over budget and that the latest estimates are unrealistic.

Christopher Ward, executive director of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, issued a report listing more than a dozen issues that have slowed rebuilding and have raised costs. These included an over-budget transit hub, the process of dismantling a condemned tower where another is going to be built and construction around a city subway line.

"The schedule and cost estimates of the rebuilding effort that have been communicated to the public are not realistic," Ward wrote Monday to Gov. David Paterson.

Ward said a committee of developers and government agencies would set new "clear and achievable timelines" by the end of September.

The report ordered by Paterson suggested that the earliest estimates just after the attacks for rebuilding ground zero were not truthful.

The Port Authority continues to be above criticism. They are the worst. Always have been. I find it irritating that the new bldg's not done by now.

Hell, we might as well let Ahmanutjob plant his wreath to the martyrs of 9/11 there next time he's in town.  The liberals seem so determined for the rest of us to bend over, grab the ankles, and admit defeat to the Islamofascists.

Hell, forcing Bella Pelosi or Hillary Frau Reichskanzelor für das Leben into a burhka at the sword point of Sharia law could only ease the assault on the eyes...

Just like what happened with the late and great World Trade Center in the 1960s. Political bickering. They should rebuild as it was. I still do miss the World Trade Center.  :( :bawl:

It is a complete travesty that it has not been rebuilt by now. 

The ORIGINAL took 4 years (construction started in 1966, the North tower opened in 1970).

That means that by now they could have built the original WTC TWICE by now, using 1960's technology no less.

It is an international embarrassment for us.
