help with a power cord question

 i need a cord for a boombox
on the box it says: ac 120v/60hz, power 15w

would a cord that says:
125v/10a 125w
be too strong and blow the boombox up?

Another DUmmy answers, but

3. are adapters different then?

my concern stems from the time i used the wrong adapter on one of those little holiday village houses (those tabletop displays). it was something to the effect of me using a 5v adapter when i should have used a 3.5v.

it completely blew out my little ghosty display.

so these power cords (the ones for a boombox) are different than that?

Another DUmmy provides assistance, but

4. but i only need 15 w. ....?

How do they function in the real world, outside of their moms' basements?  They ask a question, then beat the answer to death with their empty Cheeto bag.

Here is what you do dummie... you cut the cord and unravel the two or three wires inside. Then plug it in and hold the white wire in your left hand and the black or red wire in your right hand.  Your boombox will then play just fine. You will hear tunes from now on.

Without going into too much detail for you DUmmies, the wattage is the max that your adapter will put out; i.e., a 20-watt adapter (assuming it fits your jack on your electrical equipment) at 120 volts will supply 1/6 of an amp.  120 X 1/6 = 20 watts.

Just for your own clue, a 20-watt adapter is typically not enough to power anything past a clock radio, if that.  The adapter I have for this laptop is in the 50-60 watt range.

But you keep trying.

This cretin actually think the cord makes a difference or knows what it is plugged into?

God,they are stupid.

It will work better though if they put the cut ends in their mouth.

<-------helpful. :)

If the DUmmie is all concerned with the power rating, a 10 watt would on safe side.  O-)

The DUmmy can wire it up any way he wants and it should still work--Obama just announced a new executive order that delays Ohm's Law.

DUmmie should test the receptacle first by sticking a fork in it.

DUmmie needs to hold the wires against its temples while standing outside during a rainstorm.  If it's during a dry spell brought on by Gorebull Warming, use the shower instead.  Have a friend plug it up for you after you get good and wet.

THIS is why DUmmies don't NEED nice things.

Plus, I'm getting tired of paying for them.

Could it be because DUmmies have no brains to receive such treatment?

Kinda worries me if a Zombie apocalypse happens.  Zombies look for brains, DUmmies will be safe.

I guess the DUmmies again fail to understand Physics, and that electrical/electronic devices, unlike DUmmies, only take what they need.
