Title: Laelth: Capitalism is NOT a dirty word
Post by: Ralph Wiggum on March 06, 2014, 01:41:18 PM
Going a touch against the grain here...but just a tiny bit:

Quote
Laelth (18,947 posts)

Capitalism is NOT a dirty word. (http://www.democraticunderground.com/10024617964)

In my world, a liberal is a capitalist who seeks to shield capitalism from its own excesses and who hopes to channel capitalism's productive energy into a system and society that creates wealth for all. Capitalism is certainly better than socialism--i.e. state ownership of all property.

Ultimately, capitalism works, and it works well, but it works better when liberal laws are in place to insure that all citizens benefit from it (and not just the wealthy few at the top).

It is serious error for liberals to disparage capitalism. Liberals are capitalists. We just want a sane, just, and humane capitalism.

2. I hear what you're saying Laelth, however,

the way capitalism is practiced in this country, it most certainly IS a dirty word, and to "trash" it, publicly, is the only way to get the slower students (republicans) to re-think it....or at least question its viability under the current culture. The entire meme has to change before the whole world goes to hell in a capitalist hand-basket.

Yeah, WE are the slower students:  :whatever:  :shortbus:

Brand new thread...

If Laelth is so much in favor of private enterprise, why is every answer from him "let the government do it"?

If you had stopped there Alan it might have been the first intelligent thing you ever posted.
You just could not keep from effing that up though could you.

The wonderful "liberal" laws you wish for are the antithesis to capitalism and you have never once shied away from that.
You have publicly wished that Ocare will destroy the insurance business so you can have a dreamed of government health care system that will be free for you to use.
You practice extortion at an office that specializes in suing businesses in hopes of a lottery win.

Yeah, you are a capitalist in the sense you want it for yourself at anyone and everyone elses expense,in short a Stalinist.

What they don't realize is that Obama practices the "dirty" Capitalism, called Crony Capitalism, aka National Socialism.

11. The argument was without merit

It deserves no dignified response beyond "**** that".

I'm not particularly sorry if that bothers you. But afterall, I'm not the one wasting my time polishing a giant turd that manifests as a clear and present existential threat.

And so on, and so on...

It is utterly amazing that they can so willfully ignore the brutal, centurys worth of Marxist/socialist/communist history and actually long for a system that by design has to have a despotic tyranny at its core.

They don't want to be elevated from their own misery. They want the rest of the world lowered to it. If that means some people at the top make all the money, hey, all's good as long as they're black, gay, or both. They have the perfect setup until January 2017.

Learn this lesson:
When a liberal claims to be a capitalist, he's really a lying socialist.

Lilith's short stay at the Cave did nothing for his intellect. He's still one DUmb son of a bitch.

Lilith sez:

Quote

The tell is "in my world". Lilith admits that he is a delusional DUmmy (BIRM), as "his world" is not the same one as everyone else. In Lilith-Land, a "liberal" is "a capitalist who wants to control other people for the benefit of those who refuse to contribute."

Those "excesses" are what normal people call "profit".

We call that Crony Capitalism.  It's the inevitable result of overpowered government trying to push the invisible hand or, smack it.  The reality is that LIbEral interference warps the market to the detriment of the lowest earners.  If government has the power to over regulate, that power will be bought for the favor of those most able to afford such favor.

To bad you don't pay attention to human behavior.

Idiot.
