Noonan: America and the Aggressive Left

Half the country feels—and is—beset by government. That's not progress.

I am not a big Noonan fan. Way too many times her articles get about half of it right, but then she drifts into areas I just can't go.

However in this article she gets it pretty much right.

I liked this part:

Quote from:
Conservatives sometimes feel exhausted from trying to fight back on a million fronts. A leftist might say: "Yes, that's the plan."

But the left too is damaged. They look hollowed out and incoherent. Their victories, removed of meaning, are only the triumphs of small aggressions. They win the day but not the era. The result is not progress but more national division, more of a grinding sense of dislike. At first it will be aimed at the progressive left, but in time it will likely be aimed at America itself, or rather America as It Is Now. When the progressive left wins, they will win, year by year, less of a country.

I can't argue with that and it's something I've continually pointed out to the left. It's follows the religious pronouncement of "What does it profit a man if he gains the world but loses his soul?" So liberals, what does it profit you if you get the USA the way you want, but everyone is so miserable in it they revolt and things fall apart? Which they will, let there be no doubt. A free people do not want to be wards of the state.

Of course they're convinced that once everyone drinks their kool-aid that everyone will love it and wonder why we didn't do it earlier. Boy, if it ever comes to that are they in for a surprise.

You have to crack some eggs (and heads) to make a utopia.
You're going to have to walk on a lot of eggshells though.

That was an excellent article, thanks for directing us to it.  I was preparing to enjoy the comments as well, as the WSJ has good commenters.  But, there was a commie trolling every other comment, like one of those OFA goons on Politico, and it ruined it.

I think commenters should be somewhat limited.  You shouldn't be able to hog a board.
