2. There was a story about some people hoisting the Russian flag in the area. Don't think it's an
invasion nor an occupation. The report is rather sparse. Hope they all settle down. An invasion would be crazy.
In 1979 Afghanistan Airports were occupied by Soviet forces...

7. Unmarked uniforms. Approached in trucks/busses without licenses.
Didn't interfere with airport operations.
Pictures I've seen show them without magazines in their rifles.
They aren't talking to anybody.

Ukraine's top security official, Andriy Paruby, said the armed men in Crimea were taking their orders from the top in Russia. "These are separate groups ... commanded by the Kremlin," Paruby, secretary of the National Security and Defence Council, told a televised briefing in Kiev.
Near the military airport, half a dozen men in camouflage uniforms with automatic rifles were blocking the road using a truck with no license plates. Reporters were kept from approaching them by volunteer militia, who formed a second road block about 150 meters away.
"Of course they are Russian," said Maxim Lovinetsky, 23, one of the volunteers. "They came last night."

Most likely Spetznatz, or Spetznatz-led 'Russian minority militias,' who will plead for Russian intervention to protect the interests of the ethnic Russian minority. Basically the Sudetenland all over again, except with Spetznatz instead of Brandenburgers.
The idea that the Russians aren't calling the plays on this is laughable.

Why should Putin be scared of your Dear Leader? Obama's a joke; he isn't going to do anything, and the world knows it. Liberals are wimps. Putin couldn't ask for a better opposition leader (using the term "leader" which much salt when refering to your Dear Leader).

The primitives are having to walk a tight line. On the one hand, they want Dear Leader to appear tough and in control. On the other, they know he won't do anything which, of course, makes him look weak (which he is). So they have to say he needs to talk tough but stay out of it. It's the only safe position they can take.

I think Obama is planning to unleash the IRS, EPA, and the Justice Department on Russia. After all it works so well against Americans. If that doesnt work he can use Obamacare against them. That should take down Russian military morale.

Good Lord, the left spends the majority of their lives in denial, on purpose! Of course, when they're wrong the go-to response is to blame someone else, usually a conservative that had nothing to do with the whole thing. 0bama isn't a threat to anyone, he doesn't ever backed up any of his "threats" and whatever "bluff" they think Putin is pulling, if the boy king tried to call him on it, he'd be laughing all the way to the heart of Ukraine. Just watch the world calm down if we get a true conservative in the WH!

After having lived in Crimea for hundreds and hundreds of years, they're all gone now.
Stalin deported all of them, lock, stock, and barrel, to central Asia, during which time about half of them died.
This was in 1944, when the Germans still occupied some Soviet territory.
They were expressedly forbidden from ever returning; at various times, they've tried, but were pushed back.

Soviet policies on the peninsula led to widespread starvation in 1921. Food was confiscated for shipment to central Russia, while more than 100,000 Tatars starved to death, and tens of thousands fled to Turkey or Romania. Thousands more were deported or slaughtered during the collectivization in 1928–29. The government campaign led to another famine in 1931–33. No other Soviet nationality suffered the decline imposed on the Crimean Tatars; between 1917 and 1933 half the Crimean Tatar population had been killed or deported.
During World War II, the entire Crimean Tatar population in Crimea fell victim to Soviet policies. Although a great number of Crimean Tatar men served in the Red Army and took part in the partisan movement in Crimea during the war, the existence of the Tatar Legion in the Nazi army and the collaboration of Crimean Tatar religious and political leaders with Hitler during the German occupation of Crimea provided the Soviets with a pretext for accusing the whole Crimean Tatar population of being Nazi collaborators.
Modern researchers also point to the fact that a further reason was the geopolitical position of Crimea where Crimean Tatars were perceived as a threat. This belief is based in part on an analogy with numerous other cases of deportations of non-Russians from boundary territories (see, e.g., Involuntary settlements in the Soviet Union), as well as the fact that other non-Russian populations, such as Greeks, Armenians and Bulgarians were also removed from Crimea.
All Crimean Tatars were deported en masse, in a form of collective punishment, on 18 May 1944 as "special settlers" to Uzbek Soviet Socialist Republic and other distant parts of the Soviet Union. The decree "On Crimean Tatars" describes the resettlement as a very humane procedure. The reality described by the victims in their memoirs was different. 46.3% of the resettled population died of diseases and malnutrition.....Many of them were re-located to toil as indentured workers in the Soviet GULAG system.
Although a 1967 Soviet decree removed the charges against Crimean Tatars, the Soviet government did nothing to facilitate their resettlement in Crimea and to make reparations for lost lives and confiscated property.
