Does a woman cease to exist when she gives birth?
While we're on gender-related issues...
Last night, my paper published a column about this young lady:
Her name is Tracey Brown Fouche, and she's been highly energetic since she graduated from one of our local high schools ten years ago: she won Miss Idaho in the Miss America system in 2006 THEN won Miss Idaho in the Miss USA system in 2008, became an attorney, worked with the homeless in East LA, and has raised a lot of money for breast cancer research. We wrote about her because she's started a new law practice specializing exclusively in adoption law worldwide. If you want to adopt a child from some country no one ever heard of before, Tracey Brown Fouche can help square you away.
How she was introduced in the column: "The wife, mother and lawyer..." In that order.
She's not the only one. It matters not whether you're getting your medical license, receiving a great civic honor, being promoted to Colonel in the Air Force, reporting that you're a crime victim, being sued, getting caught for DWI, or getting sent to prison, your first child erases for all time the possibility of you ever being referred to as a woman. From the instant that kid's feet meet free air, you will until the day your child starts having children of his or her own be referred to as "mother." (And once your child has reproduced, you will never again be called anything but "grandmother.")
So...whatcha think? Should a woman who's had kids be referred to as "mother" or "grandmother" every time she's mentioned, or only when it's germane to the occasion?
IOW motherhood is not to be treated as an accomplishment but as a diminution of status.

1. The so called Christian Right think she ceases to exist as soon as she conceives. Nt
^ This Proglodyte identifies as gay.
Since men, by Proglodyte rules, have no say in a child's life then perhaps this fag would be so kind as to refrain from commenting on conception.

Just an aside, humans normally enter the world head first.

6. What's wrong with calling her "the wife, mother and lawyer"?
If she had been a man, wouldn't they be calling Tracey, "the husband, father, and lawyer"?
:sarcasm:
Actually, yes they would.

That's retarded, sir.
Did you mean my life ended when the egg that became me was fertilized? Funny, I don't feel dead.

Um, no you ass-clown. Just the contrary.
That's just your standard bull-sh*t liberal talking point that has been beaten into your brain over the years.
-
For a group who claim to be so concerned with rights they sure are quick to deny someone the right to exist.
-
They just can`t stop digging a new bottom to the well of stupidity every day.
-
What the hell is wrong with being known as a wife and mother? Guess I've just been brain washed by a male-dominated culture for too long...be right back, my husband wants a sammich!

If you had a bull that produced that much bullsh*t, your bull would soon die.

DUmmies hate being shown that real women can be more than a vagina needing government birth control. Being a wife and mother and being a lawyer is more than any DUmmie could aspire to.

Exactly, thundley. Their idea of a woman is someone in an approved liberal leaning field(women in business, of course, do not matter--seen that first hand among--you got it, other women--particularly leftists) who has a vagina that must be ironically protected in order to have sex while being protected against the very act itself(remember PIV is RAPE to many there).
Well, here's a little lesson for the retards. My life did not end at conception; actually it didn't change much at all right at that moment and I only got the initial glimmers of the life lessons to come and sacrifice for another human being when I first wretched up a mouthful of bile at 6 weeks pregnant--and those lessons and changes were minor compared as to what was to come. My life had not ended and really my growth as a human being was just beginning. Nothing is more humbling then having someone else's life in your hands like you do with young children. I changed as a grew infinitely more as a human being then I believe I would have without my children as I raised them(one now nearly into adulthood with the others on her heels for that honor). When we include 'mother' in a woman's 'resume' it is included to denote her as a person who wears many hats in life and many roles. I've never seen it used as anything other then an accomplishment of a woman who is multi-faceted and has managed to balance a good life between her professional and personal selves. Why on earth do you all take any offense that a woman is called a mother or that she sees it as a high calling compared to other areas of life? And even if you can answer that, what ****ing business is it of yours if another woman chooses to value her role as a mother at least as much as the other ones she plays in life? You certainly have no problem every time a gay man identifies himself as a homosexual in every article and that has far less meaning being purely that individual's sexual proclivities then mother has in the scheme of life experience. They are so transparent; ultimately they just don't value that role and it's why it so offends them.

Weird. i consider myself a dad and husband before anything else..
-
we have a very balanced home life. The wife stays home with the kids and does the schooling. I go out and keep the lights on. She plays the short game with the budget and I play the long game. There was quite the difference after she became a mom, she is regarded with an air of respect and dignity for her place in motherhood. Much of that was from her birthing our third at home. Very much team-work oriented and respectful at Casa de Confusion.

Interesting how people label themselves, then head for the Orbits to see how family labels them.
First who they are and where they come from, parents names and then on to a description of their life. Where raised ETC.
Short, sometimes a description of their achievements and activity's when young and then later life. Schools and work history.
Next who departed before them, then on to the survivors. Here is where one finds the names of their children, if no kids then the name of their beloved dog, cat, or special partner.
One can see the departed had raised children, had grand kids and great grand kids.
To describe ones self when alive is much different, often it is as others see you that is the real deal and those observations may be closer to the truth then how one sees oneself.
Anyone can become a parent or marry but to become a Professional Lawyer is super special.
-
Vesta, obits are celebration of one accomplishments in life, not their failures.
It's there for the living as a reminder.
Nobody looks to see how they're labeled.
They also serve as a legal notice. Strange, but they do.

Isn't that a shame too? I don't sugar coat pregnancy and raising kids--it is difficult and certainly it is why women who experience it put a feather in their cap to include it as part of a description of themselves--especially doing so maintaining sanity in other areas of life. I just knew the moment I got sick and felt exhausted that it got real and I got just a glimmer of what it would be to have that awesome responsibility for another human being. Unlike the dummies, however, and as you stated, I didn't want to run for the quickest abortion to rid myself of the inconveniences that come with the joys of having children(much the same way, unlike someone like Loconuts, I didn't throw in the towel on my education when the coursework got overwhelming--work sometimes sucks, but it makes you who you are and is the fuel to propel you to the good things in life). For me it was a growing up moment, but one like anything else I learned and I think grew me as a person right alongside my children. I wouldn't trade it for the world, nor will I hide how that role of mother shaped not only my children but me to make a bunch of DUmmies feel more right about their world.

13. No. Tracy the man would be "the 28-year-old attorney from Post Falls"
I have probably printed 500 profiles of successful men and never has one described him as a husband and father. We'll always include it somewhere, but a successful man is always described as lawyer, architect, mayor, cardiologist, ophthalmologist, quack, city planner, arborist, boatbuilder, events planner or whatever he does for a living, and the women are always described as mothers.
We did one on a quiverfull tree surgeon, and in the first paragraph we gave a little opening thing about the splendor of tree surgery, in the second graf described his firm with its 80 workers and its certifications and awards, and opened the third with "Jones, who lives in Smalltown with his wife Bountiful and eleven children" (obviously neither the name of his hometown or wife). The story we did about the last mayor had as its first graf a blurb about her retirement as mayor then opened the second graf with "the 73-year-old grandmother of nine..." who also owns a successful business. Totally different situation.
DUmmy jmowreader must be a real big time, hot shot journalist to have printed 500 profiles of successful men and to so casually use technical journalist jargon like blurb and graf instead of paragraph.
