given all the crazies they have in the Party. Many have begun to realize that they can't stand behind the Party because they wind up shooting themselves in the foot and really vote against themselves by voting Repug. Many of them have started to identify themselves as Independents and some have said that they will even sit out the 2014 elections because they just can't continue to vote against themselves. Some have said that they'd even vote Dem.
NOTE: I posted this earlier today and it got buried in the midst of replies to another post. I thought it was worth reposting as an OP because I feel this is most important.
Just like for years the Repug's MO was to get as many one issue voters to vote Repug and peel off votes that way - that same strategy has started to erode and it's starting to work against them. Many of those one issue voters are now looking at the bigger picture. In fact - the Dems could possibly use the same one issue strategy now to get people to vote Dem.
When I think about all the things that Repugs are against - it's a wonder that anyone would continue to vote Repug.
- they are against raising the minimum wage
- they are against continuing unemployment insurance
- they are against affordable health care
- they are against LGBT issues
- they are against doing anything to do with immigration
- they are against women's issues - equal pay; right to choose; etc
- they are taking away people's right to vote
- they are denying climate change
- they don't care about the environment
- they are for big business, corporate welfare, etc
- they want to change Social Security, Medicare, and basically any programs that help the poor, the elderly, the student, the hungry
- they shut down the government
- they haven't done anything to help create jobs
- they aren't for shoring up our crumbling infrastructure
- they aren't for renewable energy
- they have stonewalled just about everything
We can probably go on and on to add to this list that they are against - and we could probably start to put a list together of what they are for - and we'd find out that what they are for only benefits the rich and the corporations.
I ask the question - given such a list - who wants to still be called a Repug? Who wants to vote for such a party that literally is against or negative on anything that can really help the common American and jump start this economy again and are for only those things that benefit the wealthy?
If we can't - as Dems - take these issues and parlay them into winning back the House and maintaining and increasing our numbers in the Senate - then - yeah - we might as well give up right now. But I say - No - don't give up.
Cuz People - it's ours for the taking now - we need to take these issues and talk them up and start changing the psyche of the current Repug voter.
We need to get all Dem voters out to vote and we need to bring along a bunch of current Repug voters that are now questioning their alliance with the Repugs. Yeah - districts might be gerrymandered - but many Repug voters in those districts are ripe for the taking.
We have acknowledged that there are States in this country that are on the cusp of turning Blue - because the composition of voters are changing.
Let's face it many of the staunch Repugs - are old, white, rich and their numbers are dwindling.
We can do this people. Just don't throw in the towel just yet and don't sit it out because you think that we can't do it.
That's what the media is trying to do now. They are trying to create this sense of hopelessness in Dem voters to get them to sit out 2014. We can't let MSM and the Corporations continue to do this to us.
GOTV - and get out as many of your friends, family and associates to vote as well. Hell - talk this up with your Repug friends and make them see the light.
I recently heard Charley Crist talk about his change from being a Repug. One of the things that stuck with me is that he voted Repug because his folks were Repugs. As he really started to analyze and dig into his beliefs and feelings - he had to make the change. How many other people out their vote the Repug persuasion because their folks did?
Recently - I've seen other prominent Repugs - make the change too. It's doable people - we can do this.
Don't give up.

Funny, I'm not embarrassed to admit I'm against any of those things. There are relatives I simply won't discuss politics with. If they think that means I'm afraid to admit I'm Republican (I actually am, but it's because those in the establishment class support those things as much as the left does), I don't care. I don't want to get it an argument with someone who starts screaming like an idiot when their pushed into a corner by their own stupidity.

Years ago, someone jumped off one of the bridges in Charleston into the Kanawah River. I'm talking late 80's/early 90's, maybe even early 80's.
Idiot survived, but received numerous cuts and bruises from landing in the water. One of our drivers at the time remarked the idiot jumper probably didn't even get wet!
Another time, I was delayed by someone DUmbass on the top of the Dunbar Toll Bridge, threatening to jump. Cops and FD had the bridge blocked off, and because of it, I had to detour 8 miles to continue my route that day. If I had a gun, I'd made the decision for him!

Sounds like deflection to draw attention from something similar that's actually happening: members of the Democrat party running away from 0Care (whoops, the ACA) in advance of the upcoming elections.
Either that or criticizing Boehner et al for not enforcing current immigration policy now makes one liberal?

I am. Minimum wage jobs were never meant to provide a living. Sorry, but the fact that most of you are too stupid, ill, and lazy to acquire and apply needed skills does not mean you are owed a living wage. In any case, I don't see why you care, since most jobs that pay minimum wage are offered by companies that you don't think should be allowed to exist, WalMart and fast food, to name but two.
- they are against continuing unemployment insurance
After 99 weeks? Damn straight. That's almost two years. In this day and age, if you can't see the writing on the wall and update your skill set appropriately, then **** you. Yes, I said it: **** you. If you're so good at programming, put your JCL aside and learn Ruby and Python. If you're so intellectual and nuanced, go learn data science. You have two years: GO.
- they are against affordable health care
No, I'm against FREE healthcare for losers who won't take care of themselves, who need to be dried out from their drug and alcohol binges, and who think mental illness is some sort of badge of honor and Golden Ticket. Healthcare would be more affordable if people didn't live like you assholes do.
- they are against LGBT issues
No, we are against being forced to endorse the ass humping lifestyle. There is a difference between TOLERATING something (which we currently do) and having it CRAMMED IN YOUR FACE every second of the day. Conservatives, and most people, are tired of the stupid gay agenda. If there is even ONE state you can get married in, then gay marriage is LEGAL. You don't want it to be merely LEGAL, though. You want MORE GAY PEOPLE, period. Sorry, not going to happen. For time immemorial, there will be men and women to whom the concept of same-sex sexual congress is completely abhorrent. YOU will have to deal with THAT. To put it in words you asslovers will understand: We're HERE. We disregard QUEERS. DEAL WITH IT.

We have equal pay for equal value of marginal product. We shouldn't have equal pay just because. Right to choose? Listen carefully: IF YOU HAVE TO GET IT FROM SOMEONE ELSE, IT ISN'T A RIGHT. The only way abortion is a "right" is if you do it to yourself, which given the high rate of mortality for at-home abortions, BE MY GUEST.
- they are taking away people's right to vote
No, just in favor of proving you are qualified to vote. I get why this is an issue for you: dead people can't show a voter ID. I do think it's noble that you insist that all dead people vote Democrat, but don't you think if they really want to, they can at least climb out of their graves and prove it?

No, we agree that the climate is changing. We don't agree that we are causing it, and we don't agree that your bullshit solutions will do anything to help it. Well, hang on: Al Gore and Leonardo DiCaprio COULD like, ride on he same private jet to Tahiti when they need to get thigh-deep in supermodel *****. That might help. Can you see which of his 20,000sf palaces Gore is staying in? Maybe he'd agree to that.

The environment is cleaner and is in better shape than any time since the start of the Industrial Revolution. Take your crying indian and go smoke a peace pipe, asshole.

Thank ****ing CHRIST. When a male adult American (which excludes Oloser 3x) is in the White House again, the walls will come down. By then, Harry Reid will be pushing up daisies or trying to extort Lefty Rosenthal again, so getting things done shouldn't be an issue.
