Title: Are most Americans savvy voters?

Fairly new campfire, not many responses yet, but I find the poll results revealing:

By savvy I mean intelligent and well informed, able to make good voting decisions.

Obviously, the media plays a big roll in why they might not be well informed; and I though on how to factor that in, but couldn't think of a clean way to do it. But that's another question - would they be savvy voters if we had a better media landscape?

Just go to People of Walmart...page after page after page of DUmmies too stupid to know they're embarrassing themselves. Of course they're not informed. They're spoon fed their opinions. Just look what happens someone goes off the reservation one just one issue.

I know most Canadians aren't.  We seem to know more about American Politics than Canadian politics.  I'd wager that if I walked up to a random person on the street and asked them to name as many Canadian Prime Ministers as they could, then name as many American presidents as they could, they'd be able to name more presidents.  In fairness there have been twice as many presidents as there have been Prime Ministers though, no term limits here.

A stuttering cluster **** of a miserable failure was elected to president twice. Nuff said.

I've always thought that someone who states "I vote the straight Democrat (or Libertarian or Republican or any other) ticket down the line" is not really 'savvy'.

Voting for someone just because of an R or D or L, if that is the only reason, just doesn't seem all that informed.

YMMV

It would perhaps help in your investigation if you were to ask real Americans and not the anti-American LW freaks on Skin's island, of which you, el_bryanto, are one of them.

I have voted for numerous Democrats over the years.  For example, in my 10+ years living in Chicago, I routinely voted for Mayor Daley (D).  Mostly because there was no Republican running and the only people running against Daley were completely bat-shit crazy (Bobby Rush, Louis Farrakhan-types, flaming Communists/Socialists).  I was no big fan of Daley, but he was far better than any alternative.
