Seeking thoughtful and honest feedback. (http://www.democraticunderground.com/10024460163)

Pat McCrory is coming to give a speech in out little town next Thursday.  (Ralph's little edit here, FYI - McCrory is the Republican governor of North Carolina.  I know little about him.)

I invited folks to come and protest his presence via Facebook and have no problem with come one come all. Democracy ya know.

Well, some Moral Monday folks got involved. Yay! And a larg-ish liberal statewide non-profit organization got interested. And today I was warned off talking to the local press (who have contacted me) before the event because:

"NonProfit" and i (Moral Monday Person) agree it would be better to try to put him off until the actual day. We don't want it to become a screaming match with some of these wingnuts in Iredell County. I am more than happy to talk with him the day of and at the event, but would hate to start getting a bunch of crap letter to the editor until after the rally.

Anybody out there with organizing experience have any feedback as to the Pros and Cons of talking with journalists prior to a protest? The journalist in question (according to my inside source at the newspaper he works for) is a liberal's liberal with a man-crush on Obama. So I think he will be, at least, fair.

I always figured the more people that know about it, the better. Am I wrong? Help me out here.

Their definition of an honest journalist is absolutely puke-worthy.  :puke: :puke: :puke:

The reporter is a liberal's liberal with a man-crush on Obama and he's still to far right for the DUmmie.

If they can get that tickle out of his leg so he can walk.

Why don't they ask gNads?

She would be delighted to report on it.  Or what about LFR?  She's worked in communications.

Iredell County is Statesville, NC. Not a lot of kooks in that area. They'll need to ship them in from Charlotte and Greensboro.
