I fell asleep in the chair outside

I had the laptop on my lap, by there was this little pull on my shirt.

Yep, the raccoon that insists on being my friend was there because I had put the cat inside. It's little hand yanked on my shirt to wake me up.

What on earth?

Raccoons - dumb question [View all]  Oct 23, 2013

I have one that is a frequent visitor. She loves cat food, and lingers quite a bit with anything left in cat bowls. She's kind of solitary, though I think she was one of the brood I saw running around in the spring.

She's cute, and snatched my shirt one night when I was asleep on the porch. She nipped me (nothing bad, just a playful pinch) on the toe when she wasn't fed. I fed her, and she placidly crunched on cat food like she owned the place. She was about a foot away from me. I didn't dare touch her.

Is she dangerous? Is she rabid? Will she hurt the cat? So far, none of those things have come to pass, but she's kind of small. If she gets full grown will this be a problem?

Okay, the raccoons have gotten ridiculous

I was out on the side patio, and two juveniles mobbed me. Like, sniffing my feet mobbed me. I went on the other patio to get the cat and bring her in, and there they came, and I had to grab her up and toss her inside while one of them grabbed my damn foot and sock as I was *fleeing* it. I don't think it was trying to bite, I think it was just hungry and was trying to stop the food wagon (I haven't left food out for them because they have gotten to be a nuisance).

What in the hell do I do with these damn things to get them to stop mobbing me? The cat was just sitting there like "they aren't going to mess with me if I don't mess with them" but they freaking run up to me like I'm their damn mother! Seriously, I felt a little raccoon slobber on my sock. It was trying to keep me from running away because I didn't feed it.

I got my last shot yesterday. It's a doozy in making me feel fatigued, but I'm pretty overjoyed I won't get rabies!http://www.democraticunderground.com/10024445713

You feed wild animals and they become dependent. When not fed they can become dangerous.

The same is true with welfare recipients. Look at the calls for violence from the DUmmies when they think their feeding trough from Uncle SugahBama is threatened.

I did too! Her name was Remington.  She was a baby when I found her. She was the best pet. I would be working in my front yard and she would follow me around.  People would drive by slowly I guess thinking I was about to be kamikazed. :lmao:  she loved to run her fingers through my hair.  But sometimes she was deadly. I couldnt go near her when she was in heat.

Well, the males get even worse during that time. "Rascal" was house broken and had his own bedroom. I would put "Rascal" outside during rut. My X-wife thought I was being mean until once during that time he put a canine tooth thru her shoe, big toe nail, big toe and out the bottom of the sole of her shoe. From then on she trusted my judgement of when it was time for him to be caged outside for about 6 weeks. Usually outside about this time of year actually.

He was about the size of my fist when we got him and we did enjoy him for about 4 or 5 years. Someone unlatched his cage one day and he must have followed some slut off into the wild.

Even though he was a lot of fun, I wouldn't raise another one and keep it.

Frequent nosebleeds can be caused by brain tumors  or nose cancer. Also it can be a result of too much nose candy.

and

I'd have let it be fatal. I will never again go to a hospital and "do the right thing". I'd rather die on the side of the road than deal with the horseshit I'm iin.

You would think that with their self-professed expertise in every matter known to man, they'd know not to deal in any way with filthy beasts of the outdoors, which include, but are not limited to, raccoons, opossums, skunks, rabbits, mice, and rats.

     You'd THINK it.

Notwithstanding animals that are kept clean by dint of being domesticated pets, outdoor animals carry filth and disease and are not "cute" in the least except at a distance. Liberals think anything that communes with and subsists from the outdoors is "natural" and "noble," forgetting somewhere along the way that most cases of anthrax are caused by the sort of filth they invite by FEEDING ANIMALS.

If you want to feel good about feeding something, DUmmies, feed a hungry person. Leave the critters to their own devices. We will all be healthier for it.
