What's for Dinner ~ Tuesday ~ February 4th

I'm thinking Spinach Pizza...
I seem to be on a junk food binge of late, other than fresh fruit, real food is leaving me feeling "eh"

Spinach pizza. I hope we see a photo of that nightmare.

A reponse from my candidate to replace the do-nothing Lucinda as forum boss.
NJCher cemented her place as the DUmp's foremost chef with her puke stew photo:

10. looking for a recipe for turkey meatloaf

In my Meatloaf Bakery cookbook.

If I don't find one, I might go for a pasta recipe using turkey meatballs.

I want to thank Pinto for his terrific idea of pairing broccoli with a dollop of curry mayo. I made my curry mayo with curry powder, lemon juice, and a little cayenne. It was so good on my fresh broccoli.

I hit one out of the ballpark with the roasted chicken last night: I put sliced garlic under the skin and also stuffed it with lemons. Then I cut up some dill, grated some lemon, squeezed some lemon juice, and sliced some garlic and warmed it up in olive oil in a skillet. I then basted the roasted chicken with this.

The extra effort resulted in a very flavorful chicken.

Also made glazed carrots.

Chardonnay.

For dessert: mojito sorbet.

Oh man. That meal put me in heaven for awhile.
Here is DUmmy NJCher's heaven:

11. A variation I saw on the food channel of chiles en nogada

Yup, I am nuts. Hell, yesterday I sent 15 mini sandwiches with home baked bread to a work pot luck.

Trust me, this is more complex than the bread.
What?

What?

I'm not sure if that looks more like a big bowl of plastic fake barf, or water-soaked and weed-contaminated remains of an actual chicken exhumed from a muddy backyard grave after about a month of ripening.

I had called it  'spinach with a vomit sauce.' :runaway:

It looks like someone confused the beef stew and chicken & dumplings recipe in their cookbook.

Maybe the pages were stuck together.

You can kind of see a very decomposed chicken shape in it, at least if you have some experience with looking at forensic photos.

I spent an evening with the family of one of my brother's friends.  The mother's Indian girlfriend was a horrible cook.  She cooked a whole chicken in a slow cooker, cut it up, and served it as-is with all the bones in it.  It was awful.

I can't help but to wonder how NJCher manages to post on DU. Judging by her picture of 'heaven', she must be blind. I would think that would make using a PC fairly difficult.

It's a pity UGP isn't around to tell us what that poor chicken in the Soup Nazi's pot is thinking.

I'm hoping that coach may use his influence with Skimmer to get Lucinda fired from her forum boss job, and DUmmy NJCher put at the helm.

I know coach is sweet on Lucinda, but she's really dropped the ball and NJCher has shown herself to be the epitome of a DUmp chef.

Anyone with the nerve to post that puke stew photo deserves a corner office at the DUmp.

From the food channel's site I found a recipe for chiles en nogada.

It's made with chicken, onion, apple, dried apricots, raisins, pears, dried cranberries, garlic, tomato paste, wine, sugar, poblano peppers, shallot, almonds, cream, cilantro and pomegranate seeds.

That sounds like something a Kalifornistan bastardized from a Chili Relleno recipe.  Blech.  Who wants a fruit relleno?  Not I.

The cherry primitive would be a better hostess than dear old sweet Lu--I got nothing against Lu, only that she doesn't seem to care about the responsibilities of the job, and so shouldn't have it--but I have other choices better than her.

The cbayer primitive for one, but I doubt the cbayer primitive's interested; she was a long-time moderator on the old Skins's island, and although she did that job diligently and well, all she ever got was grief and hatred from her fellow primitives.  So I don't think she'd be interested.

By the way, even the calm, composed cbayer primitive (temporarily absent because she's inland or something) appears irked with dear old sweet Lu.  On many of dear old sweet Lu's "what's for supper" threads, the cbayer primitive answers, but ends with "You?" or "And you?" directed at dear old sweet Lu.....who of course doesn't reply.

The cooking and baking forum needs a hostess likely to bring back the old "regulars," who left because if dear old sweet Lu doesn't care, why should they; someone who could attract back the sparkling old dude, Ms. Hindenberg, grasswire Judy, the trophy wife, the diet cola primitive, and yes, even the vile hate-filled old hippywife primitive Mrs. Alfred Packer.

(A few of these primitives still post, but only once in a blue moon; they're not around like they used to be.)

Dear old sweet Lu's really decimated that forum, with her "I-don't-care"ism.

I think the bubbly, effervescent fizzy one could rejuvenate the forum.

See, that's ridiculous, no matter what it tastes like.

I hate recipes that require a shit ton of ingredients.

After you've made it, you've got a refrigerator full of chicken, onion, apple, dried apricots, raisins, pears, dried cranberries, garlic, tomato paste, wine, sugar, poblano peppers, shallot, almonds, cream, cilantro and pomegranate seeds that just goes to waste, unless you plan on making this goofy dish multiple times over the course of a week.

The bubbly, effervescent fizzy one is as much a long-term lunatic as LocoNuts or Dennis the Menace.

She's working minimum wage and her husband is now unemployed, playing video games at home, so you can expect another round of head shaving any day now.

18. stir fry with lots of fresh ginger and cruciferous vegetables

....also cha siu and pea pods and onions, garlic, and ramen noodles.

I'm afraid this may be the recipe equivalent of a bouncy tale.

It's too funny to be true.
