During a Google Hangout session on Friday, fry cook Darnell Summers told President Obama that his hours were cut due to the Affordable Care Act. “We were broken down to part time to avoid paying health insurance,†he said. Summers explained that he makes $7.25 an hour and has been on strike four times seeking a wage increase. “We can’t survive, it’s not livin’,†he said.
The president responded by urging states to increase the minimum wage. “I am working to encourage states, governors, mayors, state legislators to raise their own minimum wage,†Obama said. “Obviously, the way to reach millions of people would be for Congress to pass a new federal minimum wage law. So far, at least, we have not seen support from Republicans for such a move.â€
The president did not address Summers’s comments about the healthcare law. (http://www.nationalreview.com/corner/370307/fry-cook-shifted-part-time-work-confronts-obama-andrew-johnson)
One of the comments to the article mirrored my thoughts as I watched the video in the link:
Fry cook? At his age? Really? You didn't go to college or trade school and get a REAL career that you want ME to subsidize your lack of vision? I don't think so.
But as far as your hours are being cut... hey, Mr. Fry Cook, that's ALL ON YOU and your black buddies who put Obama in office.. get over it... OBAMA WON THE ELECTION.
and then this one was priceless:
If you like your Fryolater you can keep your Fryolater. Part Time, Period

How's that 'Organize and strike for higher pay' thing workin' out for ya, Darnell?

Why do Dhimmi'Rats hate ex-cons so much?
Buddy of mine, his son - probably about the same age as "Darnell" - is fresh out of Wyoming Department of Corrections custody for screwing up his early adult life with some drug offenses. Bound and determined to go straight, this kid has had his come to Jesus moment, and has been the most reliable line cook Olive Garden in Cheyenne ever saw. Fortunately for him, the restaurant hasn't felt the need to cut him back, but this is the type of person the arrogance of Obama(don't)Care has been hurting the most.
I just hope I can line up the pay-per-view rights for Obama's special spot in hell.

I'd buy a ticket to see that performance. I'd especially love to see some heartfelt, painful screaming.

I only caught this line on Fox News this a.m., so I might be taking it out of context, but apparently the White House said they are "allowing" Americans to work less. I think this might be their spin on hours being cut.

Yeah, and now the deadbeats will have more time to focus on artistic work, like making ceramic bongs, writing shitty music and getting high. :stoner:
-
So, Darnell, how are your Union "Brothers" doing?
-
That "allowing" Americans to work less bullshit is the most laughable, pathetic spin I've ever seen in my life.

Well gosh darn it, if it weren't for those rascally Republicans this place would be paradise. Period.

Speaking (tangentially) of obamacare, here is an article in the National Journal by that lib Ron Fornier, "Why I'm Getting Sick of Defending Obamacare."

If you, like me, like to read comments sections, I'd say these are a pretty kick-ass group of comments. Not stupid and troll-ridden like Politico.
