TODD STARNES: You can’t celebrate America, school says
http://www.foxnews.com/opinion/2014/02/03/todd-starnes-cant-celebrate-america-school-says/
Students and parents at a Colorado high school are outraged after administrators turned down their request for a spirit week day honoring America because it might offend non-Americans.
“They said they didn’t want to offend anyone from other countries or immigrants,†a 16-year-old member of the student council told me. “They just really did not want to make anyone feel uncomfortable.â€
The student council at Fort Collins High School had proposed having a day to celebrate the United States during next week’s Winter Spirit Week. The young people pitched “’Merica Monday†– and invited their classmates to dress in patriotic colors. Their proposal was promptly shot down by administrators.
If people do not like America, they are more than welcomed to leave and renounce their citizenship if they want.

:argh:

Good luck trying to get me to STOP celebrating the achievements of my country and countrymen, ya bureaucratic morons. Just try, and see what kind of bloody stump you draw back.

They are so worried about offending non citizens that they end up offending citizens.

I so pity the sane people of Colorado. :(
To their whackadoodle neighbors: :bird:

I've always wondered how people who could be offended by America always seem to end up in America.
If a mere celebration offends a non-American, why are they here?
Surely these offended types must squirm on the floor in agony every 4th of July.
What heartbreak these people must feel every time they go to the post office-a flag flies overhead!
Perhaps the easily offended need to get a spine and deal with it-as opposed canceling celebrations for fear of some phantom of offense.
Liberals find ways to offend me every day, no one is concerned about my feelings. Why should I care about theirs?
There is no right to NOT be offended.
No one cancels gay parades because someone might be offended.
When Occupy Wall Street called for the organized murder of the rich, no one asked them to tone down the rhetoric.
When Bill Ayers refused to back down from his assertion that 25 million Americans need to be executed, no one asked him to stop visiting the president.
It seems liberal desires to not offend people only goes one way.
So I decided not to play that game. I suggest the celebration go on anyhow. Lets see if the liberals will call the police on students waving the flag. Civil Disobedience goes both ways too.

We don't count. Get with the program.

Yeah that is true. We are so unimportant that they will give amnesty to illegals while plenty of our own citizens either can't find a job or are working crap jobs just to get by.

Some are born here and they are known as democrats and liberals.

Some one come and get me, drag me out before it's too late, I am entering the Twilight Zone.

Sounds like the obama administration.

I'd like to see what exactly the school administrators are going to do on Monday when the entire school body shows up to school dressed in patriotic colors.

'Merica Day ban at Fort Collins High School draws protestors; Administrators agree to America Day

FORT COLLINS, Colo. - After protests, Fort Collins High School has agreed to allow an "America Day" next week.
The student council proposed having a 'Merica Day during Spirit Week next week. The students said the idea was to show support for their country.
However, school officials told 7NEWS that 'Merica had negative connotations, so they nixed that idea. On Tuesday, school officials said they will allow "America Day."
UrbanDictionary.com defines Merica as a hick phrase meaning: "If you don't like they way things are here in Merica then you can git out."
Several protestors with U.S. flags were outside the school on Tuesday morning. Fort Collins High School has an open campus, so several students joined the protest off and on throughout the morning.
7NEWS has a crew at the school and will have more on 7NEWS at 5 p.m.
I love it when the kids stand up for themselves and prove they have a bigger backbone than the nimrods running the schools.

Fort Collins, huh? I mean, I expected this from Boulder, but...
Then again, CSU is in Fort Collins, isn't it? And IIRC, one Sal Guinta is attending college there. Maybe the good students can have him speak there sometime soon.
Watch the libtards heads explode as a result.
(Note to those curious--Sal Guinta is the first living recipient of the Medal of Honor from the WOT, specifically, Afghanistan.)

When people stand up against bureaucrats and leftists, they are easily intimidated.

The irony, said the students, is that they are required to participate in Cinco de Mayo celebrations. One member of the student council pointed out the hypocrisy - and noted that students were not being forced to dress in red, white and blue for "'Merica Day."

It's messed up, though. They want to force kids to accept multiculturalism, but they get pissed when white frat boys throw parties and dress like messicans.
