New ammo packs 3 shots into one bullet

http://money.cnn.com/2014/01/30/smallbusiness/multiple-impact-bullet/index.html?hpt=hp_t2

The bullets spread to a diameter of 14 inches for handguns and 24 inches for long guns. The fiber itself, which is spooled up inside the core of the slug, slices paper targets to ribbons, but does only "superficial" damage to flesh, Kuchman said.

They're intended for self defense, says Kuchman. Multiple impact bullets improve the accuracy of nervous, would-be victims with unsteady hands by giving them several chances to hit their target with just one shot. The company uses slogans such as, "Because you can't afford to miss" and "First hit advantage is everything!"

after which a couple of photographs

1. Don't we have a "gun porn" forum for this?

2. Yes, but I think all should see how 'threatened' these people feel that one bullet isn't good enough for them. Maybe they can develop some more weapons of mass destruction that can be carried in a pocket!

God these people are retards. The point behind having multiple projectiles is to ensure that terminal ballistic effects are just that: terminal. If you are going to go to the trouble to use your firearm to defend yourself, you don't take half measures. You use the minimum amount of force necessary to ensure that the bad  guy is down and not going to hurt anyone. The fact that they are raising a stink over something that is there to ensure women's safety (using one of their favorite groups so they understand) means they are sexist mysoginistic a**holes of the highest caliber. /DUmode off

MOD: Add a little cooking oil to that shell and you can kill 'em and cook 'em all in one easy step.

Not really interested in 'Less than lethal' ammo for home defense, thanks anyway.

I'm kinda partial to the Winchester PDX1 12 gauge slug/00 Buck combos, or the PDX1 pre-fragmented 12 gauge slugs.  Not much is going to want to continue the fight . . .

The land they own near Royston and all the trees in the back, anyone getting hit would be trespassing anyway.

Yea this.^   I will stick with Speer Gold Dots and the older tried and true Hydrashocks.

+1 to that.  Also, warning shots are a waste of ammunition.

I used to hear stories of something similar to this from VN vets. Guys would take the buckshot out of a cartridge and drill small holes through the pellets, then wire them all together and replace them in the casing in a particular pattern that would cause them to spread to the limits of the wire, so you had the penetration of the pellets and the cutting action of the wire. You never know how much of those stories were true and how much was myth.

I also had an artillery guy tell me they would fire a couple of rounds filled with Tootsie Rolls into a field, and when the gooks would walk in to collect the candy they would fire for effect on the same spot.  :-)

That sounds similar to this.
