We've just been royally screwed by my husband's employer and health insurance co.
Last year he had a good health plan through his job, with which we had reasonable co-pays of $15 and $30 for doctor and specialist visits. This year, somehow, he's been switched to a
high deductible ($4000) plan with a Health savings Account.
Nobody bothered explaining any of this to us. I just called the mail-order prescription company to find out about some prescriptions that were supposed to have arrived a week ago but hadn't. They said the doctor had not called them in, but that the bill would be about $300. I was shocked and said the last time it came to $56. And the time before that.
When he had open enrollment in November, the form said if we didn't choose a different plan, we'd be put on the same plan. As far as I remember, that is.
I called the insurance company to check and they confirmed that we are now on this high deductible plan, but added brightly that we might be able to save(?) some by having a Health Savings Account. I've always heard that those are a total joke and useless.
I don't know where we are going to get the money to go back and pay every doctor, dentist, pharmacy and lab the full amount for visits made this past month.
I guess this is the insurance industry's revenge for the ACA. The bastards.
Of course, none of this has anything to do with Obamacare. It's all the employer's fault.
Nothing changed last year, like, uh....well the entire health insurance industry getting turned on it's head, right? Your husband's employer probably
a. Couldn't afford to offer the same insurance with the new Obamacare rates
and/or
b. Their current health plan didn't "qualify" as a "good plan" because it didn't offer free birth control to single 55 year old men.
Guess what?
Now you get to....

Oh, good.
My day can end on a happy note. Another suffering primitive.
[edit] forgot the obligatory Nelson:

I hope no DUmmy falls for that HSA business.
If they do they'll be paying bills with untaxed money, cheating their president out of his share of their income.
Progressives want to pay their taxes, the more the better.
I hope more DUmmies share their stories about not keeping the insurance they liked.
We need more inspiring stories about their enormous deductibles.

In other words, you messed up, did nothing and the company moved you to their new default plan.

And until she got hit with this bill, she's probably been singing the praises of the jug-eared muslim for getting her such a low premium.

Delicious! There are going to be millions of leftists that get totally screwed. It will be more tasty because they were expecting the messiah to deliver utopia.

Want to know what happened DUmbass?
The insurance company offered a junk affordable plan with decent coverage that was costed out based on the actual use and needs of those in it.
However since it did not cover such vital services such as free contraception and maternity care for everyone plus the inexpensive situation of being virtually able to call from a hospital bed and get insurance at no extra cost the policy was ended in order to comply and was now priced as needed.
You should celebrate having what you begged for! :)

Geez, how many doctors, dentists, pharmacies, etc., have they gone to in the last month? Do these people spend all their time at the doctor?
Whenever I go to the doctor, etc., they always ask me for my card. She had to have known that she had a new card for her insurance. The doctor's office also would have known and collected the right amount. I just don't believe this tale of misery.

You screw up and it's the insurance company's fault? Do you people ever take responsibility for your own choices?

No, I don't think they ever DO take any responsibility.
