3 Gay Republicans Trying to Make Election History (http://www.democraticunderground.com/10024357605)
I guess my only question is how did they ever become Republican? This one will be interesting to watch. These men will most likely lose...but for the wrong reason.
"Dan Innis' husband persuaded him to run for the U.S. House.
It didn't matter that Innis, a former business school dean, faced an aggressive Democratic incumbent, GOP colleagues who oppose his right to marry, and history — no Republican ever has been openly gay when first elected to Congress.
"He said, 'You've got to do this,'" recalls Innis, running in the 1st Congressional District, which covers most of eastern New Hampshire. "He said, 'You need to take this opportunity and see if you can make a difference.'"
Innis plays down his sexuality as a campaign issue, but acknowledges the historic undertones. He is among three openly gay Republicans nationwide expected to run in this year's midterm elections. None has an easy path to Washington.
Each ultimately must unseat a Democratic incumbent, overcome brushes with hate and confront passionate divisions within the GOP about the way they live their lives. The Republican Party is trying to soften its tone on divisive social issues, but many religious conservatives see homosexuality as immoral..."

1. I just can't seem to dig up any respect for gay Republicans.
I remember the Reagan years too well, how people were dropping like flies and Ronnie wouldn't even say the word "AIDS" in public until well into his second term.
I've known a good many gay Republicans, and all of them seem to love Reagan's legacy. They have another thing in common: they're all loaded and all they think about is how to protect their money and keeping the government from raising their taxes. You can talk to them all day long about social issues and the religious right, but they still think there are too many lazy people sponging off the government who want to take their money. Besides, in the final analysis, they have nothing to fear from conservatives because they know that their money will protect them. That's the kind of gay people they have in the GOP, and I think they can go to hell.
Intolerant much? :whatever:

2. Being gay doesn't mean
you necessarily care about others, obviously. I'm with you, no respect.

3. Chickens for Colonel Sanders
They disgust me.
Bash a gay Democrat and you'll get banned toot-suite.

Was Reagan forcing homosexual men to have promiscuous sex with each other?
I don't know how these loons blame Reagan for the AIDs epidemic.
As for the rest of the nonsense, I would never support a candidate who pushes the "gay" agenda, just like I couldn't support a candidate who promoted abortion. However, if the candidate focused on the fiscal issues, I wouldn't have a problem.
People don't realize that this agenda isn't about acceptance or equality. It's a straight-up attack on Christianity.

Didn't spending for finding a cure for AIDS skyrocket when Reagan was president, from "zero" to hundreds of millions of dollars?
I think it did, and if I think wrongly, I need a new brain.

No you're wrong, we never spent a dime on AIDS until Obama was in president.

Well, we spent some during the Clinton years, but other than that the US government hasn't spent a dime until the Obumbler took care of the issue.

How was Reagan to know?
For millennia, queers have been susceptible to fatal diseases made prevalent by their perversions.
How can democrats deny natural selection?

Just like racism and misogyny, homophobia is owned by the left.
I find queerdom disgusting but really don`t care if a person is one until they tell me I am the abnormal one for thinking it is vile.
Libs only view homosexuals as another voting bloc to pander to,any time one engages with one the gay slurs are thrown out freely.
Take note fags, libs only use for you is if you march a party line, otherwise they are happy to see you die from the consequences of your lifestyle.

And like old folks with expensive medical conditions, do the dummies really think that over the long haul obamacare will cover costs of some of those really expensive AIDS treatments? And do they really think that the government is going to spend billions of dollars on research for cures for conditions that only affect those engaged in risky sex behaviors or those common to old age?

You know all those drugs that Obamaites are suddenly discovering aren't covered under their beloved Obamacare--like rheumatoid arthritis drugs, etc? Are any AIDS drugs among the? Anyone know?

I guess the DUmmies never heard of the Log Cabin Republicans.
And no one knew what AIDS was when Reagan took office. It was a mystery disease at that point and the virus hadn't been identified, let alone figure out how it spread or how to treat it.
I remember when it was found in San Francisco, they first thought it was spread by gays using bath houses and closed them down.

Remember the DUmmies never let a little thing like the truth get in the way of a story/lie they are trying to promote.

They were right.

Bath houses are so 70s.
Now they use Craigslist.

No, you're correct. Nobody knew beans about it until around 84, or so. It was all very, very new. The primitives bashing Reagan over AIDS funding is complete BS, as usual. If the (D)Ummies want to be really accurate, wasn't Patient Zero running around bathhouses in the mid-late 70's?
It's Carters' fault. :-)

This DUmmy is a liar, but that goes without saying.
I just checked the official AIDS website of the US Government (http://aids.gov/hiv-aids-basics/hiv-aids-101/aids-timeline/), and found this:
1981: On June 5, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)* publish a Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report (MMWR), describing cases of a rare lung infection, Pneumocystis carinii pneumonia (PCP), in five young, previously healthy, gay men in Los Angeles. All the men have other unusual infections as well, indicating that their immune systems are not working; two have already died by the time the report is published. This edition of the MMWR marks the first official reporting of what will become known as the AIDS epidemic. *The CDC is part of the Executive Branch, under the command and control of the President of the United States.
1982: On September 24, CDC* uses the term “AIDS†(acquired immune deficiency syndrome) for the first time, and releases the first case definition of AIDS: “a disease at least moderately predictive of a defect in cell-mediated immunity, occurring in a person with no known case for diminished resistance to that disease.†*See previous paragraph.
1983: In May, the U.S. Congress passes the first bill* that includes funding specifically targeted for AIDS research and treatment—$12 million for agencies within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. *President Reagan signed the bill.
1984: On April 23, Margaret Heckler, Secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services,* announces that Dr. Robert Gallo and his colleagues at the National Cancer Institute have found the cause of AIDS, the retrovirus HTLV-III. She also announces the development of a diagnostic blood test to identify HTLV-III and expresses hope that a vaccine against AIDS will be produced within two years. *The Secretary of HHS reports directly to the President of the United States.
The DUmmies want so badly to be oppressed, they imagine it where it does not exist.

It's the only way they can get public sentiment their way. Even then, it doesn't last long.

I recall the term GRID being used more than AIDS throughout the 80's.
