Oh my.

This is ancient, really ancient, but it's an excellent example of how the brain-damaged primitive's always been negative about things.

They grab you with the so-called rebates knowing only a small percentage will follow up or even sewnd in the info needed. Buy multiple items on one receipt and you are REALLY screwed: they don't give duplicate recipts. It's the same scam as the supermarket coupouns. Why give a lower price when less than 40% of the coupouns are redeemed. **** COMP USA!!!

If you don't send the rebate with the correct info then that's hardly their fault, is it?

Buy multiple items on one receipt and you are REALLY screwed: they don't give duplicate recipts.

Then don't buy multiple rebate items on a single receipt.

It's the same scam as the supermarket coupouns. Why give a lower price when less than 40% of the coupouns are redeemed. **** COMP USA!!!

Once again, if you don't use the rebates (coupons) then you're just screwing yourself. And no, I don't work for Comp USA.

What would you need multiple receipts for?  Nobody seems to want your original receipt in order to qualify for a rebate, just a copy.

Well, I consider rebates to be somewhat a marketing scam.  That doesn't mean I don't take advantage of it when I need a certain product...;-(.

I recently discussed this with a co-worker who went out and bought a few hundred dollars in software and peripherals, her rebates will account for for well over $300.  I somewhat chided her because she didn't keep good documents on her purchases and I had to explain to her that she needs to keep track of everything she sent in case she has to call.  She only kept the receipt...8-(.

As far as CompUSA rebates go, you don't need multiple copies like Computer City, you can just send in copies or at least that what it says.  As for people not sending in their rebates, well that is their own fault if they buy a rebate thinking the price is better but not following up.  The thing I hate about rebates and that can be considered a scam is that some rebates will not come in til you make a phone call letting them know that you haven't received it and then they send it to you.

On the other hand, a smart consumer will be able to get ALL the benefits.

First, tell them you are buying each item for a friend. Pay for each on a separate receipt then photocopy the receipts and sent the original in with the rebate.

Why give a lower price when less than 40% of the coupons are redeemed.

You are down on the Store because 60% of the consumers are not smart enough to take advantage?

**** COMP USA!!!

Flames should be directed at stupid consumers, not the retailer.

I am quite certain that no rebate can REQUIRE the original receipt.

The receipt is the purchaser's legal evidence of the transaction, and the other party to the transaction (CompUSA) can't force you to turn it back over to them.  I have (fortunately) always gotten my rebates in the time frame promised, and have never sent an original receipt.

Whether or not you have mulitple items on a receipt, send in a photocopy.

That's their fault how?

Well, why would they? You send in copies of the receipt, not the original.

**** them because... people don't always send in their rebates? How is that their fault? Hell, I buy from them because the store near me has a very lenient return policy and low prices. Rebate or no.

Hmmmmmm.

Good idea,  us old folk have no idea of what is a rebate we buy an item for the sale cost and get a ticket that says to call in for a rebate. What the hell is this, Does this mean we have paid allot of money up front that is not worth the price ?????.

Jesus, vesta.  Is lucidity that foreign a concept to you?  Nadin's word salads make more sense (sometimes.)

And I don't know how many times I've gotten a rebate.  Retailers even MAKE rebate receipts to send in with your product UPC sticker.  Explain it and everything.

Easy-peasy.

Nice catch.

Seems like Doug is, has been, and always will be a miserable person; a victim of his own negativity.

Is that guy incapable of using a copy machine?  That's all it takes.

Seems like Doug is, has been, and always will be a miserable person; a victim of his own negativity.

He's mainly a victim of the 10-12 ounces of cerebral tissue scooped out by a neurosurgeon and tossed, splat, into a hospital wastebasket.

Along with piano lessons and concern for personal appearance, that discarded gooey mass included personality, judgment, and every redeeming quality he may once have had.

I've found some shocking footage of Doug's brain operation.  It might explain why Doug turned out the way he did:

This old folk (me) knows what a rebate is, even at 71.  Why would you say "us old folk have no idea...."?

But this old folk (me) does NOT know how much money "allot" is.  (FYI, 'a lot' is not one word)

Not that I saw; those were all the replies to walrus-face that that link.

I dunno why the link didn't copy-and-paste better; I did it three times.

It's 5/7 of a "shallot", Marv.
