My situation just became critical...again
Got word a few minutes ago that I have to vacate my camper trailer living situation. Apparently a neighbor complained and I have to go. Just one of those nosy, in your business kind of people I guess. Tonight is last night in trailer, then I will likely be in a friggin shelter since I have no where else to go.
Was hoping it would not come to this. Nonetheless, I have an offer to relocate to Albuquerque which is my plan. But I can't go unless I can get a moving truck. Apparently Paypal is working as I have seen a donation for $50 in my email (please see previous post "I have Paypal") That encourages me. Thank you. But I need to move a little faster. If you can donate to this, please PM me and I will tell you how to help. This is for a fellow DUer in trouble. I need to raise about $550 just for truck--not including gas for 1300 mile trip.
If you can help, please chip in. I have come to admire the many DU'ers who have helped me through this crisis as a family. The light at end of preverbal tunnel is there. I'm just struggling to get there. I also know many of you are struggling too. But any amount helps.
I will now go back to paypal since I need to check if it is officially activated.

Back in the early 80s I lived in mine off and on for 2 years... within city limits, in parking lots, all over the country. I guess things have changed in that regard. Sorry to hear it Left Coast.

13. Ii don't know what you have for stuff but I have seen people rent a moving truck
that cost $500 to move their furniture that was worth $200 on craigslist.
Sometimes it alright just moving somewhere like you want with just a back pack and keep the extra cash in your pocket.
just a thought......
How would he travel with his lava lamps and blacklight posters?

It doesn't have to be a truck at all. It is much cheaper to pack up what you really want and MAIL it bulk rate of book rate. I have done this myself an huge savings. What would cost $1000 bucks by truck with rental, insurance, fuel etc. would cost probably less than $200 maybe less than that if you can part with some stuff. Box it, mail it.
Asking the DUmmy to break federal law. If it isn't media, you cannot mail something that is non media. You can't circumvent the law either. You can't put in a book and mail it as media. 100% of the package has to be media.

how are you going to cover fuel to drive it?
are there start up costs involved in the new place?
I've been in similar situations and have had to leave town with just the clothes on my back.
I'm sure I'm not the only one.

In the first place, why is it any concern of a neighbor what he's living in? IF he's being quiet, minding his own business, and not being a DUmbass, the neighbor needs to STFU. You would think either the owner of the trailer, or the property owner of where the trailer is parked would have the final say.
Apparently, leftycoastnumbers is a flaming DUmbass, and BOTH the trailer's owner and the neighbor want him gone. The owner of the trailer will probably have to scrap it.

A couple of years ago, Leftcoastnumbers helped a homeless woman, and wanted her to go to the "Gathering Inn" for shelter, food etc.
Why doesn't Leftcoastnumbers go there himself? Of course one of their rules is that you have to be clean and sober.

I doubt there are very many incorporated areas, and no neighborhoods with HOAs, where a deadbeat can live in a camper parked in someone's driveway.
Between city and county ordinances, zoning, and HOA restrictions, neighboring properties are protected from that.
To live in a camper you need to go into the boonies, like poor stupid Beth Ferrari, living with her mother and two big dogs in a little humpbacked camper in the California desert.
On the other hand:
Since none of it probably is really happening, it doesn't matter.

Couple of questions:
Where has FC# been doing his umm, err, business while living in the broken down camper trailer? Out in the lawn? Out in the neighbor's lawn?
What are the shower arrangements? Garden hose tied to a trestle? Luxury bath in the street gutter?
Was the same hose used as his water supply in the camper trailer? And did he run the hose through a window to the sink?
Is his power source an extension cord? Is the cord larger than 16ga. wire? How many appliances are hooked up to the cord?
And the number one question: How much is the fine for vagrancy?

I believe I can sympathise with this poster.
Coming across country we pulled into a travelers park that also rented out travel trailers to be kept on the property.
Darn the rentals had no toilet, the renters had to go to the shower rooms to pee and these were so filthy I refused to take my kids in. I have no idea where the tenants pooped but it did make me wonder.
Cost back then was $4.00 a night for the rentals-----early 70's and I wondered why and how the renters came up with back then with close to $1,500 a year just for rent.
Please check my figures I am horrid with math.
Have to remember a big home at the time had a mortgage including taxes of $200.00 a month in VA.
So what is the back story on this poster, was he renting and forgot to pay his rent ?
If he owned the traveler had he no way to move it, say Walmart for one allows campers to spend the night in their parking lots.
No drivers license makes it a problem to get on the road.

Asking for a small favor from regulars in ths group.
It was suggested to me that I also post here--wasn't sure if one GD posting was enough. But I am trying to get myself out of a homeless situation. Have spent night already in church shelter--on floor.
I started a thread in GD to see if there people are able to help. Many have.
I am currently in Nor-Cal. I have offer for housing in the short term until I can get back on my feet. The other day, I started an account with Paypal since Wishadoo is down TFN. I have found many caring people here as there are some funds in the Paypal acct.
I halfway to being able to getting a truck so I can move to New Mexico. I am told it should offer many opportunities for me. I am comfortable with going there based on environment. I feel I am so close to ending this nightmare. I do not want to have to live in a shelter--if I can avoid it. I know times are hard for many. But I do not want to ask for the world. I have found some new friends who I now consider family (was nervous that this assistance would be rejected since I've never done this before).

Though I don't subscribe to organized religion, I do have faith that someone is watching over me--in addition to caring people here. I am about halfway to where I need to be. Need to check wishadoo again to see if its functioning. I had my first official night in a church shelter and did not sleep well on matted floor. People all around me snoring. Then people walk up to me and say "thats my spot". But theres that thought in the back of my mind that I'm going to get through this. I'm not sure who told me but mentally, its rough. And it is without a doubt. But seeing people here are trying to help as best they can encourages me. Its all about "people-power" just like Howard Dean said in his campaign. To the question of family with basement or spare room, no. No family. But I'm keep this going because I think I can see a light at the end of the tunnel. Its just slow for me to get there.
And to those who have donated, you are special. I know these are just words, but they do have meaning. But if someone is able to help who hasn't, please PM me. I'm almost there.

My advice to the LeftNut# primitive is to hold out both hands, Wishadupe in one and poop in the other. Get back to us to tell us which hand filled up the fastest.
The thought in the back of his "mind" should be "where'd I pack the baseball bat". Wishadupe we had the name of the church, then we could keep an eye out at the nearest Hospital ER for when they cart in LeftNut#'s broken, bruised and bleeding carcass.
