Title: 2014 Dead Pool
Post by: franksolich on January 09, 2014, 02:02:19 AM
Someone forgot to start this, so I guess I will, although I got no candidates.

There's some I wish would drop dead this year, including the entire population of Skins's island, but I'm not gonna make no predictions.  Everyone else is free to, however.

By the way, in case it slips off the front page of the Lounge--which is inevitable--and one can't in the future find it among the mountains of other older threads here:

I thought that Fidel was deal already . . .

Anyway, I definitely agree with OJ, especially since it came out that he appealed to the Won for a compassionate release from prison, because he has brain cancer.

A quick trip to a shrine will fix that. Then he will be free and healthy to once again scour golf courses in the search for the real killers. Maybe he and the won could duff a few rounds.

DUmmies are not PoP, as Coach would say. Maybe better said by PoeP. People of enough Prominence to be considered for the dead pool. The ones you mention are of no consequence.

Ruth Duccini and/or Jerry Maren.  Last surviving 1939 Munchkins, aged 95 and 93 respectively.

Jerry was the Lollipop Guild member who handed Dorothy the lollipop.  First seen coming up through a manhole during Glinda's "Come Out" song.

Abe Vigoda
Dennis Rodman
Ashton Kutcher
Bruce Springsteen
Julie Andrews

An FYI...I do not like this dead pool thing.  As a 43 year old, I have seen too many people pass away WAY prematurely.  Shit, at my 25 year high school reunion last summer, we counted at least 15 people from our class of 300 who have already passed away.

That having been said, those are my choices.  I wish no harm on any of the people I listed, nor could I.

I graduated in 1979 and 5 of the 53 people in my class have passed away.  :(

My class lost two during school-- car accident, leukemia.  Four more since: two cancers, one cop shot on duty, and the most recent one I don't know what happened.  1983.

I graduated in 1956. The R.I.P. list (http://paseo1956.com/inmemory/) from my class. Some very good friends, some pretty girls I dated, some classmates from elementary school.

At my 20-year reunion (a while back) there were at least 12-14 who were gone already.

Including one friend who was in turret 2 on the USS Iowa.

Anyway, my picks:

Eli Wallach
Carl Reiner
Tony Bennett
Michael Schumacher

Under 40:
Amanda Bynes

Bummer about Carl if you are right.

Mrs. FD and I watch MeTV and it is amazing how many of the original Dick Van Dyke show folk are still alive (although Rose is just hanging on -- I would put her on the list for this year).

Considering every single Bewitched star is gone and Gilligan's Island only has the girls left, it is quite a run for the DVD and MTM folk.

The LHOP series was so poignant. I loved the Richard role playing the husband of the show's busybody and resident trouble maker. The daughter played a great villainess as well.

I hate to say this, but Sidney Poitier did not just sound well at the Academy Awards.  Always liked him.

Shirley Temple passed recently. She had a magnificent life. A much better life than almost any other child star.
