WTF!!! South Carolina Democrats back bill calling for mandatory daily prayers in public schools
http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2014/01/02/south-carolina-democrats-back-bill-calling-for-mandatory-daily-prayers-in-public-schools/

State lawmakers in South Carolina are pushing for legislation that would mandate prayer sessions in schools.

The bill, H. 3526, would require teachers to lead a moment of silence at the beginning of each school day, during which the teacher would be allowed to deliver a prayer. Students who didn’t not want to participate would be allowed to leave the classroom.

Most of the legislation’s sponsors are Democrats. It was introduced by Reps. Wendell Gilliard (D), Robert Williams (D), Joseph Jefferson (D), Carl Anderson (D), Liston Barfield (R), Bill Clyburn (D), Heather Ammons Crawford (R), Lonnie Hosey (D), Robert Ridgeway III (D), and Don Wells (R).

Article: The compromise would be to have the students to pray to whomever they want to.

51. I am so glad that my son was raised in polyglot, irreligious Toronto.

I don't think the topic of God ever came up inside the classroom; my son was an Agnostic early.

Bless his heart.

66. Is there a good way for progressives to engage the African American community?

As I pointed out in an earlier post, the majority of S.C. Democratic reps supporting this clearly unconstitutional action are A.A. And while it is nothing close to universal, it seems African Americans in general are closely tied to religion. More than any other group, in my experience.

In your opinion, is there a way that does not come off as elitist or a perpetuation of racism which allows progressives to attack the homophobic and misogynistic church teachings without coming off as an attack on the people being victimized by the church? Or is the best bet to sit back, minimize saying and doing things which drive a wedge between white progressives and African Americans, and quietly support the people who are seeking a positive change from within the community?

Hey, wait a minute....  :racist:

Note to DUmb DUchebags,

The Constitution does not state "separation of church and state." The Constitution says that the government may not interfere with anybody's practice of their religion, "Freedom of Religion." Obama and the evil democrat party has violated the First Amendment hundreds of times.

Quote
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances

Understand?
