Once and for all: Why are "Liberals" so maligned? I was just

watching Wexler on Cuppa Joe and they got into a debate and Joe was trying to get Robert to say that Obama is a Liberal. I'm sick of Liberals being characterized negatively.

Characterized?  You must not actually read DemocratUndeground.com.  You wouldn't have to ask such a stupid question if you read DU with an honest eye.

Will someone please tell me how to respond to such hate?

Hate?  You won't be responding to "hate".  You will be responding to facts you don't like.

1. it's nice to know tht Joe watches the "Daily show with Jon Stewart"
Edited on Fri Jun-27-08 07:59 AM by notadmblnd
John asked the same question of Wexler last night and Wexler replied that Obama is the next president of the United States. It's the best answer I've heard so far.

Correction: he was on the Colbert Report not the Daily Show. I hate that these programs are on so late at night. They blend together in that hazy land of drifting off to sleep.

How is "Obama is the next president of the United States" the best answer to the stupid question?

Stop smoking yourself into a stupor every night and those TV shows will stop hazing together on ya.

3. The real answer is
"No, he is not a liberal. He is center-Right, like Clinton was"

See: FISA

Too funny!  The documented MOST LIBERAL MEMBER OF CONGRESS, B. Hussein Obama, is "center-right".  Somebody is trying to tell a lie so often it becomes the default truth.....which brings us back to the OP's question.

4. I feel the same way you do really.
In reality, there is no way the powers that be are ever going to allow someone who is not going to maintain the status quo to be elected to the office of the president. With the exception of Kucinich, all the candidates were the same product, just a different flavor.

So why are you democrats stuck with The Liberal Magic Marxist Negro for a (loser) candidate?

2. Because we represent change
people fear change. Fear is powerful. Fear is the mind killer.

All you can do is try to calm people down, and educate them and guide them away from emotionalism to rationalism.

Liberalism as a badge of honour!

Liberalism is the badge of communism.  Liberals do not represent change.  Liberals represent the Already Tried And Failed.

"Fear is powerful. Fear is the mind killer" - that's the only power in which liberalism depends.  The truth is people don't "fear" liberalism.  Normal people are too smart to by into it.

5. "Liberal" was used as a term of condemnation
by the right for a long time. They hated FDR, Truman, JFK, RFK, Ted K, and every other non-Republican and called us all "liberals" as if it was something to be ashamed of. The Extreme left even derided "liberals" as being too far right. I guess I am one, although I never worried about it too much, and I'm pretty happy to be a liberal.

"Liberal" is a STATE of condemnation.  Look around.  Pick up an honest history book.  Liberalism is something to be ashamed of.  That is why your politician types run from the label like it's on fire.  Liberalism is indefensible.

6. Because hundreds of billions of dollars & decades of effort by the RW says so.

I think you mean about TWO decades of exposure says so.  There are no lies about liberalism.  Lies are unnecessary.  It is the truth that condemns liberalism.

Never mind the comment about "away from emotionalism to rationalism," as the malicious cartoon character primitive long ago proved himself one of the most emotional, least rational, people one can hope to meet, even on Skin's island.

And the primitives lurking here need reminded it was this primitive who cost the Bostonian Billionaire Ohio in 2004.

A prominent vote-fraud activist was just ten bucks, ten measly bucks, away from getting Ohio for the then-Democrat candidate, and the malicious cartoon character primitive, because he has a grudge against her, obstructed her, snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.

So if the primitives wish to blame someone for George Bush still being in the White House, the primitives should blame their fellow primitive "Kelvin Mace."

Now, the malicious cartoon character primitive is well into his sixth decade of life, and so one imagines he's seen a lot.  One also reasonably imagines he doesn't understand much about the evolution of history.

The malicious cartoon character primitive was around when the Old Order was upset--the white guys, the rich white guys, the old rich white guys--during the mid-1970s, after which the Dawning of the Age of Aquarius.

By 1980, everything on the hippie agenda was either legal, or at least socially acceptable.

Well, the Age of Aquarius dawned, and we lived through it, and now the Age of Aquarius is twilighting.

This side is "change."  His side is the Old Order desperately trying to keep its senescent grasp on power.

We're now eyewitnessing a Gotterdammerung of the hippies, their last hurrah.

How many times do these dolts have to be reminded that their whole political philosophy of a nanny state results in less individual freedom?  They have some strange notion that they can expand federal power to a certain point and never have to worry about that same empowered gov't going too far.  That's just not the history of the world, but I don't expect them to have ever read about that.

Hey libs!!  Gutenberg.  Books.  Try picking one up for a change.

Because Liberalism/progressivism now equals communism.

If you truly believed in the classic definition of liberal you would not be a democrat/greenie/socialist.

Why are liberals so maligned?  It's because liberalism is a proven, consistent failure and you refuse to see that.

I don't know, to me "left-wing" "right-wing" seem like Marxist terminology so then they must describe some sort of range within the Marxist ideology.

Conservatism seems more 4-dimensional to me.  More holistic and all encompassing in its world view.

For example, Marxists always seem to try to force Marxist solutions on perceived problems even if those "solutions" have demonstrably failed time and time again.  And even if there isn't really a problem to solve.

A lot of times Conservatism doesn't perceive a problem per se, just a temporary condition that, if allowed to, will tend to fix itself and when there is something that requires actual intervention, and most things that do require interventions seem to be failed Marxist programs, it seeks for the best solution not "the Conservative solution."

So it turns out that liberals aren't so much maligned as they are victims of their various "successes" over time.

They will never accept that because their entire being is built upon a selfish feeling of entitlement.
We understand what history has shown...leftism (socialism or Marxism really) to be enacted must be coerced by a rifle barrel.
Primitives think that they are the chosen and that it will be a utopia for them giving them all they "deserve" without effort, responsibility or consequence.
Perhaps that would be true for a few but what they will never grasp is that the 98% who aren`t in the seats of power there is no chance of ever gaining ground.

It is the product of a very childlike mind and they react as a child does...fits of anger and rage, whining and pouting and the ability to believe in the unreal.
