Ooooh--just stoped my fundy relatives in their tracks!
* SMACK! * They were sitting around the living room after dinner (we just had our family Christmas dinner for ones who couldn't be here Christmas day), and the subject of illegal immigrants came up. They were complaining that illegals were here getting government "handouts," and the rest of the usual RW crap. I finally got tired of it, and very innocently asked, "Wasn't Jesus once an illegal immigrant?"
They changed the subject mighty fast!

5. I'm thinking one has to ignore the Roman Empire thing
Pretend that the crossing into Egypt was as illegal as the family's settlement in Nazarene. I'm unaware of citizen requirements in Israel or restriction of movement under Roman rule but...there must be a story

3. I can certainly understand the stunned silence, blank stares and dropping jaws
on the part of your fundy relatives.
It may not have been for the reason you think it was though.

6. Jesus wasn't an immigrant.
He could have salvaged it, if only he'd edited it to add a bush-jumping cop or two. :rotf:

Tell you what DUmmy, leave the descriptions of Jesus to the people who actually know something about him.

I agree. A lot of Jesus talk over in the dump these days. An obvious mole trap.

OUCH!!!!! That is gonna leave a mark. Major bouncy fail.

An obvious mole trap.
No, it's not.

No, it's not.
I was speaking about all the chit chat about the Bible, looking for someone to defend the traditional view so that they can be called out.

And I said no, it's not. It's the same bullshit chatter that gets recycled every year, at about he same time, with the same igorant invective. At Easter, there will be more "Jesus was a socialist" crap.
This was not a mole trap, it's more asshattery from stupid ass liberals, running off at mouth about things they can't comprehend.

I tend to agree with wasp. The DUmp monkeys are fairly predictable. This particular DUmmie was just trying, poorly I might add, to get some DUmp street cred.
I almost feel bad for the DUmmie. It must be sad when the stupidest people on the planet find your post to be stupid.

That DUmmie went down with an earth-shattering "plonk".

9. I got my sister in law with something similar once. She was saying something about "illegals" and I just said "who would Jesus deport?" She shut up and changed the subject immediately.
Was Jesus in law enforcement? I really need to read the Bible more often.

Jesus did deport the money changers from the temple.

... "Wasn't Jesus once an illegal immigrant?"
Maybe she was talking about "Hey-soose" their landscapper? :???:

Another one they try to trot out is that Jesus/Mary/Joseph were homeless. They weren't homeless, DUmmies, they were travelling to satisfy a government edict.
