I think we (and myself especially) need a distraction from all this political crap.
Thought to ask a few acquaintances yesterday after hearing Mark Belling (who subbed for Rush) mention it.
So, who is the best "American" band?
Aerosmith, Eagles, CCR, Pearl Jam, Springsteen/E-Street....just a starter list...
-
Tom Petty...Van Halen...
 :-) :cheersmate:

The Band. Maybe a few were Canadian? Levon was an American treasure!
-
The Allman Brothers
-
60's-The Doors, The Byrds, Allman Brothers, CCR
70's-Lynyrd Skynrd, Kiss, Ramones, Van Halen, Talking Heads, Steely Dan, Aerosmith, ZZ Top
80's-Metallica, R.E.M., X, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Cars, Jane's Addiction
90's-The Offspring, Nirvana, Beck, Foo Fighters, Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains
00's to present--nobody. They all suck. Except maybe Kings of Leon or The White Stripes.

You wanted the best.
You got the best.
The hottest band in the world...
KISS!
-
I'd have to throw The Beach Boys in there somewhere.
.

Without question, ZZ Top

Sparky's got some good ones--The Doors, for example. Ralphie, I agree with your list--and my tendency is towards the last one on your little list, even though I cannot stand Springsteen's politics (revulsion better describes my feeling towards his politics).

Without question, ZZ Top
:hi5: for another ZZ Top fan.
-
GFR!
(The thread name should have clued ya!)
-
Styx, Van Halen, Alabama, Meatloaf, the Carpenters, I know, I know, I am strange!!
-
BOC.
-
The Eagles for crying, Tom Petty for driving, ZZ Top for partying.
Watching SOA has gotten me familiar with newer bands. I'm liking White Buffalo quite a bit.
-
C'mon, guys, when you say BAND, you gotta mean BAND.
Not some motley collection of guitar pickers, rock 'n roll screamers, and longhairs. :-)

Been thinking on this for a while, and I still end up with Lynyrd Skynyrd...then The Doors....then The Ramones, and Social Distortion...and Queensryche.

No, not really.
I think my vote goes to The Doors.

I don't know. Avenged Sevenfold, PopEvil, and some others still know what good music sounds like.

Okay, I can go with Avenged Sevenfold, and I really wasn't sure where to put Queens of the Stone Age, who I REALLY like, but do they qualify as "best of" band?
3 Doors Down, while rather commercialized, is still a very talented and successful group and might warrant a mention here as well.

If we are limited to American bands then Fugazi or Skrew has my vote.

I think that's the GEICO Caveman on the far right of the album cover.

Might be a band, but also a ski resort! :p

I just happened to notice your avatar is a "Green Eyed Lady". An avid skier too perhaps ?
