The headline: My dear brother, 55 years old, professional drummer, made an announcement this weekend..
The link: Free health insurance!!!! (http://www.democraticunderground.com/10024238238)

My dear brother, 55 years old, professional drummer, made an announcement this weekend...
He's been a drummer all his life- actively on the roster of up to 5 bands at a time to keep steady gigs, getting paid from $50 to 100/night 3 to 5 nights a week (and 5 nights is a good if rare week). Never had health insurance except when he worked in restaurants and that was decades ago... fortunately he keeps himself in excellent shape as he couldn't keep up his job if he slacked off.
We were gathered at our sisters house for Christmas when he spoke up: "I went on the healthcare.gov website last week and after about 30 minutes filling things out- I HAVE HEALTH INSURANCE... and because of my meager drummers income- IT'S FREE!!!! And better still- I've decided to dish out $25/month for dental!!!"
It was high fives all around and a great sigh of relief for all 4 of his sibs! Our baby brother has healthcare/dental starting January!!!!
So let me see... the loser is a "professional drummer", 55, and makes only $150.00 min to $500.00 max a week. And this loser is excited about getting "free" insurance. That someone else is paying for so he can bang on the drum all day/nite? I know some musicians that are drummers. One is an eye doctor and another owns a telecommunication company. They still have to time to bang on the drums all nite and still earn a living. And this loser is sucking money from some middle class family so he can bang on the drums?
Pisses me off.
Anyway... on to the comments:

5. THIS should be spread far and wide, these stories that mean so much!

12. Congratulations to all those who got health insurance for the first time and those
who saved a bunch of money. I can't understand all the bad press Obama is receiving for this fabulous opportunity for a chance to receive HI even though they had preexisting conditions. No wonder the Rethugs want to destroy it and Obama.
For everyone that saved money, a bunch of people had to lose. Those people are boiling mad right now. I did like the play on words though in the DU name. Really liked it. Really, really, liked it. Really, really, really liked it. Why? I thought it was really clever when I... well when I saw it. :whistling: :whistling: :whistling:

congrats
Really Nads? We fear it? BWAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!! Yes the GOP fears it so much that will be the central argument in the next election. The dems like it so much that they are all saying they voted for it!!!
Yep Nads. That is the ticket!!!! Shout it far and wide.

15. Good for him!
I am happy that he can still chase his dreams and not worry about any health emergency wiping him out.
Of course a friend of mine who is a musician said "the definition of a successful musician is a person who has a partner with two good jobs, one that has insurance".
Look dummie... he chased his dreams for 35 years and still can't make it. He chased his dreams and didn't give a damn about having insurance for 35 years. Wait until he hits 65 and needs to retire. He will be on welfare. Paid for by someone else. Like me. I hope the fool ends up putting a drumstick thru his brain.
That is it for now. Sure to grow larger.

I'm sure Nancy Pelosi is thrilled. ::)

I don't think anyone can qualify for "free" Obamacare. What he got was probably Medicaid if he didn't claim more than $15k annual income, which he would have qualified for even before Obamacare became law.
I bet a lot of these guys get paid in cash under the table too.
-
Funny... all the musicians I know have other work (usually bartending or serving food) when they're not on tour, and probably make enough to buy insurance there.
-
So in this bouncy the DUmmy's imaginary brother is such a low earner he'll get zero premium.
And so how will he pay for the $10,000 deductible every year?
Dumb questions - of course the taxpayers will have to cover it.
So, uh, what's the difference between this democrat insurance and a full charity case?
-
Free?
Yeah, nice try.
-
I believe the entire story is BS.
Online @ healthcare.gov for 30 minutes and got signed up... :lmao:
First try... :lmao: :lmao:
The week before Christmas, when the site was down most of the week... :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:
The same site Barry couldn't even get on to "sign up"... :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:
And announced this whole thing over Christmas dinner... :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:
I ain't buying it. :bs:

As I posted in another thread, the real story of ACA will come this year when state and local municipalities get handed their public employee health insurance premium increases due to ACA taxes (3% up).
The story will then focus on who is footing the bill for ACA. NOTHING in this life is free misfits. Absolutely nothing.
Oh and Nads - we don't fear these stories. The backs of the middle class can no longer hold your weight. Mid-term election results will show you that.
I am voting for the guy/gal who does have incumbent after their name. VOTE THEM ALL OUT. Every last one of them. Bastards.

That is exactly what it is and the left is hell bent on redefining Medicaid (welfare) as being health insurance. :censored:

How blessed we are to support people who do nothing of any importance or value so they may carry on their lives of perpetual play.

Yep. Time to repeal the prohibition on free market health insurance. :argh:

I'm with diesel driver on this one. Major BS flag. Aside from the assertion that the brother is a professional drummer, the rest is sheer fantasy.

It's the 'pajama boy' story, but with a 'cool rock guy' instead of a faggot wearing a onesie.
-
Translation: My brother the drummer got arrested on drug charges (the cops suspected him because he's a...drummer-duh!) and is spending the next 6-10 in the pokey. He got free healthcare!

That's precisely what's happening.
What was it, a couple weeks ago they posted a big number showing how many "signed up", only to learn the far greatest majority were Medicaid?
Money says this is exactly what happened, if it did at all.

The DUmmie's brother (if he exists) got Medicaid. He'd better look into a little something called Estate Recovery. And good luck finding anybody to take a look at his sorry skanky ass.

This is the season of the holiday-dinner bouncy.
Easter, the Fourth, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.
As predictable as sunrise.
-
I wonder if that drummer ever paid taxes. Usually musicians are paid under the table unless he is a session drummer for a label, which I highly doubt.

They already are, retard. See: People thrown into Medicaid on taxpayer dime.
Dolt.
-
Sigh... DUmbass bouncy.
Anyway -
To reading primitives. Obamacare is never going to work, because it is only going to attract slackers, and the extremely ill. If nobody signs up who is capable of paying the bill, then what ?
- And if you are thinking 'single payer' - you are dead wrong. Look at the countries who have implemented some sort of universal healthcare system. They all have done something that that the USA hasn't.
-They tax EVERYBODY. - These countries do not have a system where nearly half of their population goes untaxed on the national level. Everyone pays based on their income into some sort of VAT, and the VAT pays for healthcare. In other words, Universal Healthcare will mean the end of that check you get after April 15th every year. Bank it.
