UNFAIR. INPEACH TOBY KEITH!!!
Toby Keith Will Not Allow Guns In His Fancy Eatin’ Restaurant So The Terrorists Have Already Won
It’s tough when your heroes let you down. Take Toby Keith, for example. His restaurant, Toby Keith’s I Love This Bar and Grill, should be a place where a man brings his guns and his prayer book and his Obummer = Socialist shirt. But Toby Keith turns out to be a filthy gun-hating Democrat liebrul.
The latest Toby Keith restaurant opened in Woodbridge. Prominently displayed on the front door is a sign saying: “NO GUNS PERMITTED.â€
Virginia happens to be a gun-friendly state, where it’s quite permissible for citizens to strap on a weapon and go into a bar or restaurant, as long as the weapon is clearly visible. State law is silent on the issue of drinking while openly carrying a gun. (State law does prohibit most citizens who are legally carrying a concealed weapon from consuming alcohol, but they, too, are allowed to go into a bar or restaurant.)

1. I give the guy credit.
He's not afraid to tell people what he thinks. I can't stand his music, but he's a pretty straight-up guy.
Okay...he's also got one helluva smile.
You mean like this?
The title of this tour and last year’s CD, “Bullets in the Gun,†suggest Keith likes his firearms. He laughed heartily at Texas Gov. Rick Perry’s line about gun control meaning one should use both hands. Keith is legally licensed to carry and does so where permitted.
“I’m all about good people, licensed and trained, carrying a concealed weapon,†Keith said. “The bad guys are always gonna be carrying guns. There are so many guns in the U.S., and so many bad people that do harm with ’em. If just 1 percent of the non-felons would go get their concealed-weapons license and carry a gun where they can, 1 percent puts you in a pretty good position of being somebody that could save a bunch of people’s lives.
“If somebody asked me, ‘Why do you have one? What are you afraid of?’ I’d say, ‘I ain’t afraid of nothing. I carry so I don’t have to be.’ â€

:bs:
I don't think so.

Toby Keith can allow or disallow whatever he wants to in his own place of business. I acknowledge that right as a conservative who believes in individual freedoms. I might or might not choose to frequent his establishment based on that, but unlike liberals one thing I won't do is gather together an organized effort to punish him and shut him down for exercising his freedom of choice, or for speaking his mind as long as it's not hurting anyone else.

His house, his rules. It wouldn't stop me from going there.

Pretty much, yeah.
-
I think it's a smart move. Guns and alcohol don't mix, and not everyone with a CCL has their shit together.
-
I think I just read that you can't drink and carry in VA. That article also stated while the restaurant can ban the weapon, it is completely unenforceable by law - so you can't get arrested for carrying in his restaurant.
-
Just a wild ass guess, mind you, but I think this decision has everything to do with liability and the always possible litigation.
-
If I'm not mistaken, one cannot carry a weapon in a bar unless he's authorized by law or specific license (such as private detective). And "CUI's" (carrying while intoxicated) will generally cost you your gun license as well. So even though Toby Keith's "I love this bar" is technically a restaurant-bar, he's just being safe. I am very sure, though, that the manager may have access to a firearm when needed.

his place he get to make the rules

In VA you may carry in a restaurant (no "bars" here as a place has to make a certain percentage from food to serve alcohol) but you may not drink. Most likely either insurance requirement or the fact that it is located in the state of Northern Virginia.

State rules.
-
All posted gun free zones are de facto free fire zones.

I think a light will go off in some deranged primitive mind and the place will get shot up! I hope Toby has the good sense to keep armed guards on duty!

If I find myself in Prince William County at suppertime, I'll decide whether to eat at Toby Keith's restaurant.
Until then, BFD.
As Chris_ said, "His house, his rules".
