CNN/ORC Poll: GOP Lead Growing for 2014
A pre-Christmas CNN/ORC poll conducted from December 16-19 reveals that the GOP now has a growing lead in the 2014 Congressional elections. The GOP received 49% of the votes in the poll, while the Democrats sank to 44%. A CNN poll a month earlier showed the GOP with 49%, the Democrats 47%. Two months ago, The Democrats had a 50%-42% advantage.
The primary reason identified for the slippage of the Democrats is the public’s reaction to the implementation of ObamaCare. While the poll two months ago apparently reflected the public’s disaffection for the government shutdown, the botched rollout of Obamacare and the public’s growing awareness of its deleterious effects on consumers have broadly overshadowed other issues. Democrats have lost their advantage and Republicans now have a slight edge in the battle for control of Congress, according to a new national poll.
Two powerful indicators that are heartening for the GOP are the indifference of Democrats regarding the 2014 election and the hostility of voters toward Barack Obama. Although only 36% of GOP voters say they are extremely or very enthusiastic about voting in 2014, only 22% of Democratic voters feel the same way. A majority of voters, 55%, said they were more likely to vote for a candidate for Congress if they opposed Obama rather than supported him.
--snip--more at link
Whats gets me is the establishment GOP is doing NOTHING to earn this.
"I think we can win by running on Obamacare." Its not the glitches, its the crappy law, and 2014 will get worse and worse and worse.
Come on, DUmmies, tell a family with a $12,000 deductable and $800 a month premiums that their old policy was a crappy policy. You have enough of your people signed up here, teach us a lesson: post a devastating reply to this good election news.
Maybe we need another Pajama boy tweet. That should save the election.

There is no free lunch. With SS and medicare, the ones screwed were so far removed from the consequences that the programs were too entrenched to be overturned until the ponzi schemes fail. With obumbles care, the consequences for the screwees are immediate. The dump loves it because they are all the winners.
The losers? Well they are boiling mad. As they should be.

We may get another bump in the second half of 2014 when people begin to realize they are no long allowed to buy 60-watt incandescent bulbs.
When the ban takes effect in October, instead of the old standard 40-cent sixty-watt incandescent bulb, you'll instead have to buy the new six-dollar democrat bulbs.
The democrat bulbs are dim for a few minutes while they warm up, but they're good for the rain forests, or endangered species, or global warming or something.
They cost a fortune but they last a long time, unless you mount them upside down or in any kind of enclosed fixture. Then they burn out real fast.
They're dim, hugely expensive, and unreliable, but we will be forced by the democrats to use them by the end of this year.
They're not as bad as democrat gasoline cans, but will soon become an everyday irritation.
Let's hope people realize they these new expensive bulbs are coming from the same moonbats who gave you democrat medical insurance.

Yep GB. When they did the same thing with the 100 watt's, I bought 30 cases. That is enough to last me until I either die or become so incapacitated I won't care anymore. I intend to do the same with the 60 watts. Don't care about the 40 watts.
I thought that took effect on the the first of the year though?

This owebumacare disaster horse came fast out of the gate, if conservatives are careful they can ride this horse to a strong finish culminating with the repeal of owebumacare, and rodeowebuma's signature achievement discarded onto the trash heap of history. I will savor the moment, if conservatives don't fall off the horse, or allow some other snatch of defeat out of the mouth of victory.

Also, to clean one up after one of these is broken requires a HAZMAT team to properly do the job (costing at least four figures). Wait 'till they get the bill on one of those.

Beck did a segment on that when he still had a show on Fox.

I don't think a lot of people realize it about the 40 and 60 watts (I only use 40). They're so busy with Christmas and ice storms, that they'll wonder where they all went. Where they went, of course, is into the attics, basements, and closets of people like us.
I will never, ever use one of those dangerous, ugly, mercury-filled, democrat bulbs in my lifetime. I'll use candlelight before that.
I saw a comment concerning the poll in the OP, from a democrat. "This just proves how ****ing stupid people are!!!"
I'm sure he won lots of hearts and minds.
-
Why do the smartest people in the world have to constantly trumpet how much smarter they are than anyone else ?
They have a complete inability to be introspective.

Now you tell me.
I went to Home-depot awhile back and bought a high dollar outside light....that's one of these damn green friendly CFLs. Well, it's winter time now and guess what....if it's cold outside and I turn on the outside light I would be better off with a damn box of matches. A candle gives off more light than that damn thing.... :argh: :mental:...the Obamason gets at least a 5 minute warning that his actions are about to have a dim light shown on their work.
Y'all have seen those cartoons with the light bulb over ones head indicating that they've had an idea...well, if you ever draw a political cartoon of a democrat politician having a stroke of genius be sure to indicate it with one of the curly-que light bulbs to show it's coming from a dimwit.

Those of us that have experience in operating saltwater or reef aquariums have been dealing with compact florescent bulbs for awhile.
But as a PSA for those newer to the hobby I offer this excerpt.
Actually, I apologize, as it turns out it is strictly prohibited to quote or otherwise "mirror" this information but here is the short version.
1) Disconnect all electricity that is supplied to the aquarium.Remove all live specimens into "new water", in the interest of specimen survival said new water should be properly prepared (temperature, de-chlorination, salinity etc.)
2) Contact local authorities for instructions on how to dispose of mercury contaminated water. Or, I suppose, you could just dump it into the creek out back of your house.
3) Keep in mind that any artificial decorations and any sealants used in the tank design, and by extension, the acrylic used to construct an aquarium must be treated as toxic waste.
Aw, the heck with it, if you bust a compact florescent light into your aquarium everything that was living is dead and everything else is hazmat and should be disposed of by the state.
Get a dog.

Now that we are on the light bulbs. Have they not thought about all the mercury that will pollute the land fields and seep in the ground which will also contaminate water and everything around it? Global warming and the environment my ass. It was just another case of them inserting their power and control.

I understand that three way bulbs are exempt from the ban so what happens if you put a 100/75/60 three way into a normal fixture will it come on at full intensity or the lowest?
The bulbs themselves are the same size so fitting them into existing fixtures should not be a problem.

I used a couple, bought by mistake, a long time ago. IIRC, they come on at the highest.
FWIW, I just ran across both 75w and 100w at the local Dollar General as I was stocking up on 40w and 60w.
Also, recall that this ban was passed during a Republican-controlled Congress on a bill presented by Rep. Fred Upton (RINO-MI).

Excellent!! that is at least one workaround. Another would be to exploit the exemption for "specialty" bulbs such as those used to provide heat for hen houses or extreme duty bulbs.

Another is "industrial" shatter-proof bulbs. They have a rubbery coating that, if the bulb is dropped, the shards don't scatter. They're exempt from the law, also.

The thing is, if you're prohibited from manufacturing 100W, 75W, 60W, and 40W bulbs, how would you keep an incandescent light bulb factory running?
All those specialty bulbs are made as niche products while most of the cash flow comes from the high volume stuff. Specialty bulbs, if they still exist, will cost a fortune.
-
I'll never forget my first introduction to those stupid sodium vapor lights.
I came back late from a trip and went into the big airport parking lot, where those lights had been installed.
Every car in the lot looked brown. It took me ten minutes to find my car.

Possibly the same places I find replacement vacuum tubes for my stereo amps. Russia and China make tubes now that are comparable to the old Telefunkin and RCA stuff.

Ya know if ever we have a protest, and the librul cops show up to stop it...
We could toss a few toxic light bulbs in front of them. We don't need to hit anyone, just break a bulb and instant hazmat zone: a little toxic barrier to separate the sides.

I've never seen a thread highjacked so fast in my life. :lmao:
I blame GOBUCKS, Bush and the Joooos. :rotf:
