I've encountered homophobes, misogynists, sexists, and people who don't care about animals.
And I think these characteristics are found in together in people and not often in isolation;
If a person is a sexist, they're likely also a homophobe and don't care about how animals are treated in the food industry.
If a person is homophobic, they probably don't give a shit about animals and are likely to be racist, too.
I'm speaking from experience here, I have a cousin who has killed dogs, uses the "n" word, even today, and has hit his wives and girlfriends.
Enlightened people aren't this way.
Enlightened people respect and see value in every living thing and they have empathy for every suffering creature.
Am I crazy, or am I right about this?
You're crazy.
More on the cousin:

5. Hi Peggy!
I'm spoiled to death, I don't hang out with any of them. Any of the traits I named is a deal breaker, same for you I imagine.
My idiot cousin is now dying in a trailer out on a ranch, I can't bear to go out there though I do from time to time.
He wasn't a very nice older cousin growing up, either.
Damn people, what makes them this way I will never understand.
So he does go out there? :???:

10. I think Christian religion can cause a person to
Love and care for animals and even display affection for women as long as....how would they say? "the woman acts lady like and knows her place" and then they can still hate gay people.
In general, I take your point, but I think it is highly based on a lot of individual background.
That does it.

Skippy seems to have the acts ladylike part down but he sure doesn't know his place.

I may have to bump Dummy Pretzel_Warrior up a few notches before the voting ends. This one is bonafide stupid.

I suppose we were trying to keep Sarah Palin in her place by running her as VP and not as president. Barefoot and in the kitchen, that's us.

Curtis, you are a fool. If you knew one-tenth as much about Christianity as you claim to know, you would know what Paul's admonition in Corinthians was about. I'm not going to bother explaining it to you, based on another passage you will undoubtedly claim to be familiar with (1 Cor. 18-23).
You really seem to be hung up on this idea in your head that the New Testament supports some patron-client patriarchal relationship that has the man lording over the woman. Well, the New Testament is full of women acting "unladylike" for the time. All of Jesus' teachings regarding treatment of women challenged the social conventions at the time. Beyond that, a careful reading of the NT will reveal that Mary Magdalene, Joanna, and Susanna were all specifically mentioned in Lk. 8:3 as being the patrons of Jesus and the disciples. Jesus was the first feminist, in the traditional sense of the word. I could go on, but it all seems rather pointless, considering my intended audience seems to posses the intellectual capacity of, well, a pretzel.
Detailed reading is required for understanding. (Does that phrase sound familiar? It should, because I lifted it from your post where you incorrectly tried to admonish me here (http://www.conservativecave.com/index.php/topic,93156.msg1167396.html#msg1167396).) Upon review of your "religious" dialogues you've had here and at the DUmp, it has become apparent to me that your understanding of Christianity is at best about a mile wide and an inch deep.
I urge you to continue displaying your ignorance by posting on a subject matter you know nothing about. I happen to find it hilarious, and you're only embarrassing yourself for all to see.

Pretzer the molester is playing to its audience...it is a vacant and ignorant mind.

Even more of an accomplishment when it's so effortless.
