I'm at work right now. This guy walks in who is running for City Council. His name is Henry Rushin and he just happens to be black. I don't know anything about his politics since I don't live in Ashburn (where I work). I livein Sycamore (our city limits touch). i grew up in Ashburn, and basically both are the same town, since Ashburn has the only grocery store and all the banks. Basically, Sycamore has a feed store and a couple gas stations.
Anyway, Rushin walks in and is taking donantions "for the children". Our recreation dept ballfields used to be in the high crime part of town until the late nineties. The county built a new complex out of town. Well, according to Rushin, the Mayor has decided to open back up the old park too. The ballfields were still there, they just needed mowing and a little fix up work. The reason for this, according to Rushin, is because some of the kids in that part of town couldn't get to the new park and therefore couldn't play little league. He is taking donations for uniforms and equipment. That's fine, good for him.
In the next frickin breathe, he says it don't make sense for the Mayor to open back the park on MLK. That sounds racial to him. My co worker asked him didn't he say they couldn't get to the new park? He says yeah, but something something something. That's what I heard, anyway, because I felt the anger in my chest. I shouldn't let it get to me that bad, but Ashburn's City Council 4-1 black and they still hollering racial something at every meeting. This jackass is running for City Council, and is hollering racism before even getting elected. I just walked out back to smoke a cigarette. I knew if I stayed in the office, my brain would override the filter to my mouth.
THEY were the ones complaining that they couldn't get to the new park. THEY were the ones that wanted the old one re opened. Now THEY are the ones saying the Mayor has reopened it to keep them from going to the "white park". I remember when they built the new park, the blacks were saying they put it there to keep them out, and with the old one closed they would have no where for their kids to play ball. The reason the old one was closed down was because of the endless repairs due to vandalism, not to mention all the fights at the ballgames and the drug dealings. Now there is shootings at the closed down park (the basketball court is still used and a hangout for the local gangbangers). When there is no white people signing there kids up to play there, we'll hear about how all the white people are racist for not taking their kids to play ball in gangland.

No matter what's done, the same people are going to complain.
Do (A), and they complain (B) wasn't done. Do (B), and they complain they wanted things to stay at (A).
The only cure for such whinery, alas, is the termination of old age.
Damn.

Now that those nasty horrible white people have moved to the new park, where I'm sure now must be in the same shape as the old park, the old park should be a nice place for a Sunday school picnic and a nice ball game.

Exactly, the new park is still in great condition, one of the nicest around. It's actually suprising considering how small a town it's in. The old park was a disaster area. God forbid white people have something nice and want to keep it that way.

Then say it outloud and often. I will no longer stand for realists being called racists because they dare speak the truth about the black "community". To me, the folks that claim anyone who speak the obvious truth about the blacks' social condition is a racist are the real racists.
It is racist to perpetrate the belief that black people are so inferior they cannot hear of take criticism. It is even more insulting to make believe blacks cannot see things for themselves. These racists come in all colors, by the way.

Sigh. I feel your pain Rebel Yell. Similar thing happened where my parents live. A few businesses got tired of being ripped off and having their customers taunted and robbed so they moved their businesses further away from the state line. The mayor of the big city over the state line (oh he's a real piece of work!) has tried to stir the pot over it claiming the same thing - "Whitey won't share, whitey still wants segregation, etc..." "These poor blacks from our state are just crossing the state line to patronize businesses that moved out of the big city years ago (hmmm...guess why?) and they are being denied access, etc..." Luckily it's all bluster and theater for his brain-washed constituents.
God, I hate racial politics in the South. And I'm by no means a racist. But it's pretty tiring to live there daily and have yourself labeled that way. It's probably the only thing I DON'T miss about being there now.

Edited to add: It's funny, all of the minority neighbors around my parents feel the same way. I've heard them throw around some nasty racial slurs when talking about their "brothers and sisters" over the state line who just come into their town to cause problems.
When people stand up for themselves and admit the truth and realize personal responsibilty is the only way to go in life, they start to care. It doesn't matter what color you are. The liberals don't want them to find that out though. That would mean losing control and votes. It's modern slavery.

If I had been anywhere but work, I would have let him have it. But being I work in an insurance office (with the public), I have to bite my toungue ALOT.

My family has never lived anywhere else. I have lived all over the place as an adult and when I go home to visit, I see exactly what you mean. People who aren't living it daily may not get it. Move away for a while like I did and you notice things too.
I must say that the most hateful racists I've seen are people who came from outside the South and moved there later in life. It's quite shocking actually. Now, that's just my experience. Hateful racists exist everywhere, including born and bred Southerners. But yes, it's shocking to see an "enlightened outsider" who moves to the South start throwing around racial slurs and cursing an entire segment of the population. For the most part, I see the dividing line along socio-economic classes now. Neighborhoods, schools, businesses, etc..have their fair share of blacks, whites, hispanics, etc...there's "ghetto trash" and "fine upstanding folk" and they aren't divided by color. Again, it drives home my point about having a personal stake in life. You work hard, own things, contribute to society, etc..you get out of that "screw it, I'm in the ghetto what do I care" mentality really fast. Those dividing racial lines were erased a long time ago. Anyone who still wallows in that is just looking for an excuse to not be held accountable.

Comes from years and years of manipulation by the left. Keep telling a group of people that nothing is there fault, it's only the fault of someone else, they can't get by without help, making excuses for crime and the degradation of the black community, etc., they start believing it.
I doubt this would have happened at a black park circa 1940.

Reminds me of quite a few of the areas in Macon. When my wife was living up here she got a crash-course in the racial politics of the Deep South.

It makes me sick that since Obama has been around everything is racist this and racist that. He sure has sc***ed up civil rights. Things have been going good for 40 years and it takes Obama less that a year to mess everything up.

No dear, since liberals have pretty much manipulated the once proud and self-sufficient black community, it's been a mess. They keep getting poorer, their handlers keep getting richer. I doubt Sharpton has missed a dinner.

Exactly. I've lived in multi-racial neighborhoods most of my adult life. Where there are problems, it comes from the "trash," regardless of race. There will always be some people who refuse to live responsibly. Race is just an excuse for some...just as sex or sexual orientation is an excuse for others.
