Comrade Grumpy (5,868 posts)
The US government just murdered 15 people in Yemen. Who will be held accountable?
Seriously.
Fifteen innocent people are dead, killed by an errant US drone strike.
What are the consequences for the people responsible?

1. If it's an errant drone strike
How can you call it murder? If a soldier fighting Taliban in 2002 as they looked for bin Laden accidentally killed one of his own or accidentally shot a civilian, I don't think that's murder.
A tragedy, for sure. But let's see what comes out after the very preliminary reports we're getting.

21. Your analogy is false. Mine was far more accurate
If there is no way to go after militants intent on terrorism (it is they who are blowing up civilians with bombs) other than to gather intelligence on their whereabouts and take them out, then that is the tough choice U.S. preesident and military make.
If it was Pakistanis or Yemenis trying to take out terrorists and they hit civilians instead I wouldn't characterize it as murder either. So it's not just because they are Americans

24. If their intent was to blow up civilians, that would be terrorism
I see nuance and shades of gray aren't your strong suit.

29. Most Pakistanis support drone strikes against terrorists
Because they are tired of market bombings. I suspect same for families of victims in Yemen.
Though NYT article shows many in THIS strike were, in fact, terrorists.
Gosh, just a week ago Mandela was a hero for market bombings.

26. Oh, see? Terrorists being killed for doing terrorist acts
Just what I was saying above. I guess Yemenis better start shunning their al queda friends if they don't want to be the next civilian casualty.
Yet just a few years ago...

and I refuse to be afraid to speak my mind in my own country.
I served my country in the military for 5 years. I wore the uniform. I was willing to sacrifice my life for the ideals this country was founded on. I will not be cowed by the bullies who run this country or the partisan cowards who support them.
As I write this, tears stream down my cheeks. Tears for the men and women who are dying in our name. Tears for poor and hard working Americans who may never get out of poverty. Tears for the hateful racist, mysogynistic, homophobic nation we appear to be. Tears for my daughter and the children of this country. Tears of anger.
Take my name. Write it down. Do with it what you will you ****ing freepers and government agents.
I will not hide behind an alias. I will not be ashamed of my party affilliation or my political beliefs. I will not quietly stand by as my country is diminished.
I AM NOT AFRAID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11
And neither should my 55 million compatriots who proudly stood up and said, "Enough."
This is my country and I will fight for her.
I will fight goddammit.

We WILL show we are courageous and will shout even while in shackles. We will take the lash of the whip. We will be spat upon but we will protect the honor and dignity of our many who cannot raise a voice up themselves.

O'Reilly last night made a comment about Mandela to the effect of comparing the Founding Fathers to terrorists. That guy is very questionable.

I haven't watched O'Reilly in a very long time. He has pretty much the same ego as Dear Leader, and I find it hard to watch the show with his ego blocking my view.

So I nadined it. Went down the list. Got a linkedin hit, won't post it here since it prolly ain't him, then got a youtube vid by a young asian musician, won't post it here, then found a facebook, again I won't post it here although it may be him. Looks like an old guy with a background of an ocean. Prolly pacific. I did find this... a couple books on his like list: The 4 hour work week and Rich Dad, Poor Dad.
Ya all decide. I won't post links cause I don't want to bring unwanted attention to some poor guy that is totally innocent.
Then I nadined Curtis Wade Branson. Heh! First 2 hits were to DU. The rest were nada.

When you have no greater goal than to be just another mouth to be fed at the govt trough, it's not like you have any concrete standards or principles by which to guide your life.
