Have any of you ever tried those duraflame quickstarts? They are awesome!! I bought some today, and tried it in the wood stove. Started it at 9 when I came home, that stove is still burning. Nice  and toasty!!! Still no damn snow!! :argh: :argh:

Know how you feel Sea, at one time we would bank show up against the house for added insulation in the cold weather.

We seldom use the fireplace in the winter as it sucks all the heat out of the rest of the house.   We do not burn wood we do the Duraflame logs and use the chimney creosote cleaning logs twice a year.

Actually, yes.  Before I got my Georgia Fatwood from LL Bean (as a gift).

They work, that's for sure.

Actually it is snowing and other things outside at 11AM  and has been doing all kinds of strange things for the last few hours.   First rain then a dusting of snow, on to big flakes, back to the small flakes.

Looking back on the last year, we in my neck of the woods have been much more fortunate then most of the rest of the country with our weather.  NO tornado's or even a bad North Easter.   No floods of size, only used the Air conditioning 4-5 days this summer.

How much longer we will luck out is anyone's guess.

Move to N. Idaho, I got plenty to spread around! Still waitin' for the "Big Dump", but I can feel it my bones. It's on the way! My lake is frozen enough to walk on already. High temp last week was 10 degrees. It will havta warm up to snow, so I'll welcome it!

I assume you do not have to drive in it.

I *HATE* driving in snow.

My snow-drenched upbringing in Los Angeles probably has a lot to do with it...

Driving in it, does not bother me. I have driven in it , since I was 16. I find that it is the people who think a bigger, heavier vehicles, like trucks and SUV's make them invincible, when many times, they are the ones that end up in a ditch or worse.

I share your sentiment growing up in a warmer climate. Not so now and I despise driving in any winter condition.
