Title: SoCalDem creates an entire word salad

I have no idea what the point of this post is...

Quote
SoCalDem (100,999 posts)

FYI.. @50K per year= $25 hr...GROSS (http://www.democraticunderground.com/10024131642)

a 40 hr workweek w/ 2-wks UNPaid vacation is 2K hours

that salary some places would be plenty, but now add a spouse and a few kids, and tack on student loan costs, car payments, rent, food, health insurance, car insurance, utilities, taxes withheld. etc...

even if 50k seems great (for some areas), it probably does not allow for much, if any, savings for the future.

Spouses usually work too,m but then we have to also add childcare, costs of second commuting vehicle, and fast foods instead of meals prepped at home..and the schedules often do not mesh, so we may need to factor in a divorce lawyer or two..

I used the unpaid 2 weeks, because some companies are offering unpaid leave, and paid vacations..not so much... or at least for the first 3-5 years.
...
18K for the same hours = $9 hr Gross

of course, people who make $18k a year only WISH they could get 40 hours a week,
.............................................
30K = $15hr gross

No matter the gross amounts bandied about by pols, we all have to live on the net..

Yeah, I can do math, but what exactly are you trying to say?

I think it's best if we wait for Nads to step in here.  She speaks gibberish.

Maybe she just looked at her paycheck and figured out there is a difference between gross and net.  .

It's a big, flashing "Welcome to California" sign.

I'm sorry, but you really ****ed this up.

40 hours a week * 52 weeks a year = $23.04 per hour = $50,000 per year - taxes at 15% = $42,500 take home.

but you were talking single filer, so, figure 25% tax rate:

40 hours a week * 52 weeks a year = $23.04 per hour = $50,000 per year - taxes at 25% = $37,500 take home.

(does not figure medicare and all the other payroll taxes, insurance, etc...)

Then, just to prove my point, I share this:

It wasn't too long ago that $50k/yr was pretty ****ing good. I first made that in 89. The best part was that for the month of December there was no FICA/medicare tax taken out. Almost 10% more each of those four checks.

All of what the DUchebag complains of was done by the democrat/progressive party.

In 89 that was actually decent money, today if barely pays for gas.
