SPRINGDALE, Ohio (CBS Cleveland) – Imagine going out of town to visit a dying relative only to come home and find a complete stranger living in your house; and worse, that stranger now says he legally owns that house.

WLWT-TV reported that Robert Carr moved into a house, changed the locks, and emptied the house.

Carr says he is able to claim the property through something called a “quiet title.” He says the family abandoned the house and gave up their rights.

Squatters. I never heard of a "quiet title".  :mental:

"Quiet title suit" is what one brings to settle any outstanding issues about the title to real estate.  Unless he has some form of deed from someone with some sort of claim to the property, he has no chance of making that stick.

This would not happen in the county where I live since there is plenty of rural land and a lot of people have either hogs or backhoes.

I've heard of 'Quit Claim Deeds' where someone pays the property taxes on a piece of property for seven years and then lays claim to it.

Term 'Quit Claim Deed' also used in some forms of real estate financing.

That's adverse possession. Quit claim is used on tax sale or foreclosed type properties.

I didn't mention it, because I was going to mole this article.   :-)

I didn't mention it, because I was going to mole this article.   :-)

Look at all the innocent people caught up in the banking mess ups that came home to find their locks changed and their homes empty.    They called the cop and were told the police could do nothing as this was a civil action.

Everything was gone from inside and  they themselves had to track down the bank or mortgage company that did this.   All of these homes had no mortgage and had never done business with that company.

The people in fact had been raped of all worldly goods, no one seemed to know what dump their possession's had been taken to.

Some people went far afield to pawn shops to find their valuable stuff.  All businesses that hired contractors to clean out the homes claimed it was the fault of those they hired for getting the wrong address. How convenient the contractors in most cases had left town with no forwarding address.

In most cases it took years to settle their claims as they could not afford long time law suits so they had to except chump change loosing thousands of dollars in this SCAM.

One bank went so far as to defend it self with the fact the home owners were insured, for them to demand one penny from them would be unjust enrichment.

What a scam, heartbreaking really to find someone had taken goods with a sentimental  value, family photo's and great- grand pas jock strap.

I do not know how repossession works, but some legal papers have to be filed to allow the removal of an auto or home goods.

It's all good, we all know that Vesta is dumber then a bag of hammers and that she is free to post whatever vapid crap that she wants.

For what it's worth I don't quite understand why Vesta would be allowed to get away with it and lorelai would not, and I would not let lorelai get away with it.

Links Vesta.

I know you like to just flap your gums but I am getting tired of your bullshit.

Google is your friend, I am not your research assistant and as this happened 6-7 years ago I will be darned if I am going to stay up all night looking it up for you.

Most of this crap happened in the Midwest I do remember, this is not bullshit, I am not smart enough to make any of this up.   I remember this time as we had bought a home and I wondered what these guys  that came to my house by mistake would do where I had a 100 pound Rottie inside.

Thinking about it, I wonder how these SCAM ARTISTS worked when they found dogs ,cats, birds in a home.

Do a search for "squatters in Detroit."  It been happening there for a while.  People have come back, found that someone moved into their house while they were away and they have a difficult time booting them out!  Can not imagine such a thing.  Not surprised the nasty, low-life practice is spreading.

Ya know Vesta, I might even hunker up to this  if you were to offer anything other then you opinions.

But from where I stand you are just full of rhetorical bullshit.

5 years ago teached a cat how to crap while on a jetski, all I had to do was just let it get familiar with the Yamaha jet ski

Say I like you, a fun person to debate with.   How did you know we had a Yamaha jet ski ?

Gone now to a grandchild that would make use of it,  all that shake, rattle, and roll got too much for us as we got older.    We now do the Kayak and we do take the dogs out with us, they are our weather warnings, watch their ears they can tell of a thunder storm 10 miles away.

Must be like driving to the mountains and your ears pop. Dogs must feel the air pressure around them.

Cats stay at home inside on guard against any intruders as in chipmunks or mice that may find a way in.  Would be nice if I could take my huge Main Coon Cats out on the river but they are too big, 25 pounds to ride on the top of our Kayaks.

Say have you seen the ads on TV for a device that teaches a cat to poop in the toilet ?

Man accused of trying to gain ownership of abandoned homes arrested

Less than a week after WLWT introduced our investigation, both Springdale and Forest Park police have filed criminal charges against Carr for breaking and entering and theft.

WLWT did reach out to Carr's court-appointed attorney but our call was not returned.

Carr is being held on more than $40,000 bond.

Bye bye, asshole.

I kill any intruders in my home, man or beast. Hell I'll go on a full search and destroy mission for a fly!  I'm funny that way.

KC

Also on joint properties where ownership of the property is transferred to one party in the case of a divorce, etc.  But in that case, you better be DAMNED careful that if someone shoves that under your nose, there better be refinance paperwork in their name alone right along with the quit claim deed.
