Should Child Rapists get the Death Penalty?

I just saw a poll on AOL with 80% saying they should get the death penalty. Link: http://news.aol.com/?feature=20080625105209990001
I am not big on the government getting into the business of killing people, even when they commit murder, but killing people who didn't ever kill anyone? I just don't get that at all. Yes, it's a reprehensible act and deserves major punishment, but death? And to see a poll where 8 out of 10 people want them killed is really kind of stunning to me. Think how many Priests we would be putting to death!

everybody thinks about the adult pedophile who is raping small children... but how many times do we hear about 19 year olds being charged w/ statutory rape of a 16 year old?
How many of those cases are going to get caught up in this?
Some people most assuredly deserve to die.. but the govt has proven time and time again that it is far from competent at deciding who those people are.
But the same government that is too incompetent to decide what criminals to kill is competent enough to run your healthcare? Got it. :whatever:

Why am I not surprised to see the DUmmies, and liberals in general, having sympathy with the rapist and not the child? Additional evidence that this "for the children" junk they spew is more lies.

I'm fairly confident that twelve thoroughly screened adults can see the difference between teen hormones and child rape. And there's appeals. And PCRA. I don't forsee too many prosecutors seeking the death penalty for very many 18 year olds for consentual sex with a 16 year old. :whatever: :thatsright: :mental:

I have two problems with the death penalty in these cases.
First, after debacles like the McMartin preschool witch-hunt and "Recovered memories"-era fiasco, which showed it was all too easy to get a conviction with nothing but total bullshit, outrageous charges, and a prosecution with an agenda, I would need to see convincing physical evidence to justify such an irrevocable resolution.
Second, once that burden was met and there was no doubt the Defendant was indeed the perpetrator of such a heinous crime, a humanely-administered execution would be far too light a punishment.

In my world anyone caught molesting/raping/harassing my kids will be subject to immediate death. I don't really care if it is humane, too light, or illegal. I don't want to pay for one minute of jail for the scum that hurt children. One bullet, no coffin, a hole in the woods. The end.

I assume the hole in the woods is only for keeping the stench in the surrounding area to a minimum. Personally, leaving 'em on display after their last thought was to wonder why their friend Death took so long to find them sends a great message to my way of thinking.

You have to drill for oil to get tar - unless you live out in the People's Republic of Califunny and have tar seeping up out of the ground naturally, because the ground is too damned full of the stuff to hold any more. No tar, they can't tar and feather me. Besides, which of them Vegan peter-puffers is gonna relieve a goose of it's feathers to feather my tarred ass?

You put them in a hole so when the sheriff asks you if you have seen them you can say no. You know trace evidence and stuff. Why even bother worrying about a trial when you can just dump the body and feign ignorance?

Dear Mama,
I can see someone going to the afterlife by less than natural causes for molesting and raping ......................... but "harassing"?
What does "harassing" mean?
I know of one woman who has a fat slob of a son who has been a pot head since he was 14. His is now 20 and is still a pot head, but she called it "harassment" when her 3rd husband told him to cut it out. She also has a daughter who was told to leave high school because her skirt was short enought to not leave much to the imagination. She said that the school has "harassed" her daughter.
I believe that the "3rd" has had about enough of her "stuff" and is planning a get a way.
I surely hope that you are not one of those types of parents who feels that their "Li'l Johnny or Janey" is right no matter what they do? ................. are you?
If it was proven well beyond the shadow of any doubt that an adult raped anyone I believe that hanging is too good for them.
"Bullet"? Why waste the money on a bullet? A nice piece of strong wire and a tree limb works ......... I would assume!

If anyone makes nasty sexual comments to my kids, cybersexes them online, leaves them pornographic emails, voicemails, or anything I consider that harassment.
