My neighbors, across the street and one over, have hidden their house
They must be about 90 years old and they've lived in this neighborhood since it was built in 1967.

I've never seen their house because it's completely concealed by GIANT SHRUBS. These are the biggest evergreen shrubs I've ever seen in my life. I think they used to be normal small shrubs like the kind you buy at Home Depot, only there weren't any Home Depots in 1967.

Not only that, but about once a year the husband brings out a really tall ladder and a pair of really small scissors to "trim" the shrubs. He climbs up and trims about an inch or two, here and there. After manicuring the shrubs, he picks up the handful or two of clippings, but I have no idea what he does with them.

Maybe the wife cooks the clippings. Maybe she feeds them to their next-door neighbor's chickens. How the heck would I know? I have no idea what goes on at that house, because it's CONCEALED BY GIANT SHRUBS.

2. Possibly

they cannot afford to have them professionally done and are wary of trying to do too much on a ladder at 90.

Or maybe they are just sick of everything beyond their yard.

With a primitive living across the street?  Say it isn't so.

4. Maybe they would appreciate an offer of help?

Like someone younger who can get up on a ladder with a heavy set of clippers? Know anyone like that?

11. Unfortunately I'm no longer able to get up on ladders

because of knee, ankle and back problems (herniated disc). I'm 62 and wish I could climb like my neighbor does.

They hire a lawn service that comes over a lot. Their daughter, son and daughter-in-law are young enough to help out, but I think they simply want the shrubs there.

I think we've stumbled on why the shrubs are so tall.

9. My grandmother, bless her, also had monster shrubs outside her house.

She refused to let anyone cut them even though they drove my aunt INSANE. She liked to side behind them on her porch and keep an eye on the neighborhood. So my point is, you are being spied on, I'll bet.

Uh huh.

13. I'm so glad I live out in the country with

no nosy neighbors around!

Just to make it clear, this primitive was responding to the lisalynne primitive claiming the OP was being spied on.  Oh, the irony.

Good fences make good neighbors.  A concept that you don't seem to understand.  :whatever:

Apparently the DUmbasses have forgotten that cops need the bushes to jump out of.    :rotf:

Over the years the old couple got sick and tired of being spied on from their nosy neighbors and decided to just let the bushes grow so they could have a little bit of privacy.
Any guesses on who they were protecting their privacy from? Hmm? Hmm? Anyone?

If this house is the one I'm thinking about, it's a meeting place for The Bilderberg Group.

And apparently, only the Home Depot ever sold shurbs.  Whatever did the world do prior to Home Depot?

Oh yeah--other hardware stores.  Nurseries.  Shit like that.

Then there's the whole MYOFB aspect of your post, DUmmie.

Privacy, DUmmie!  They want their privacy.  We'd love to have some of those shrubs right about now since they built houses behind our house, and one year after we built our pool.  :banghead:

And we went to a nursery (read: not Home Depot) and bought some and hope they grow quickly.   :-)

I like privacy too.  My grandmother had a beautiful home that was surrounded by tall shrubs and plants.  You could sit out on the front porch and not see the street traffic.  They also helped as a sound buffer.

Oh crap, we can no longer look into their bedroom, bathroom or living room----I wonder what they are doing in there they don't want anyone to see.

Last summer I wrote about a creepy family, the adult son would climb on his roof and targeted me sitting on my back porch sunbathing.   The mans father came storming over to bitch me out for corrupting his "BOY"   Only way the grown son could see me was to either climb a 40 foot tree or from the top of his roof.

One of our posters declared that I the victim of stalking was at fault for my actions, and I should not use my well concealed back porch to use as I wished.

Next door neighbor was a sheriff and ran a check on the family, interesting history, like father like son.

Everyone expects privacy, the reason we spend money on curtains or blinds. Reason we have a door to the bedroom and bathroom.

Totally odd and a bit creepy that anyone would complain about a neighbor who allows his trees to grow up to as they say conceal their home from prying eyes.   Good grief, I hope the poster is a mole trying to stir the waters, if not, someone has a serious problem.

The NSA is outside of Laurel, MD dumbass. It is in the outskirts of the metro area but not in DC which is a good 30 miles away.
