Negotiations for an “interim†arrangement over Iran’s nuclear weapons program finally succeeded this past weekend, as Security Council foreign ministers (plus Germany) flew to Geneva to meet their Iranian counterpart. After raising expectations of a deal by first convening on November 8-10, it would have been beyond humiliating to gather again without result. So agreement was struck despite solemn incantations earlier that “no deal is better than a bad deal.â€
This interim agreement is badly skewed from America’s perspective. Iran retains its full capacity to enrich uranium, thus abandoning a decade of Western insistence and Security Council resolutions that Iran stop all uranium-enrichment activities. Allowing Iran to continue enriching, and despite modest (indeed, utterly inadequate) measures to prevent it from increasing its enriched-uranium stockpiles and its overall nuclear infrastructure, lays the predicate for Iran fully enjoying its “right†to enrichment in any “final†agreement. Indeed, the interim agreement itself acknowledges that a “comprehensive solution†will “involve a mutually defined enrichment program.†This is not, as the Obama administration leaked before the deal became public, a “compromise†on Iran’s claimed “right†to enrichment. This is abject surrender by the United States.
In exchange for superficial concessions, Iran achieved three critical breakthroughs. First, it bought time to continue all aspects of its nuclear-weapons program the agreement does not cover (centrifuge manufacturing and testing; weaponization research and fabrication; and its entire ballistic missile program). Indeed, given that the interim agreement contemplates periodic renewals, Iran may have gained all of the time it needs to achieve weaponization not of simply a handful of nuclear weapons, but of dozens or more.

I can't believe how stupid our government is. This is going to come back to bite us big time. Imagine No. Korea times a thousand.

It is insanity at its worst. Israel is on her own and has been since this administration took power. Our future is in Bibi's hands.

It's not "our government" that is this stupid. It's Obama and John Effin' Kerry. Even some of the dem congress critters think this is bad.

Well if they aren't stupid, then what is this supposed to accomplish? They operate on what they think looks good or sounds good, without any reality involved.
These people are going to get us all killed.

And within a decade or so we'll have another war with Iran which would have thrown the economy back into shape. The problem is, this next war will be nuclear with terrorism as a major aspect because as soon as Iran as nukes, so does Hezbollah and every other terrorist organization that's willing to bend their knee to Persia.

I would imagine that the eee-vil racist JOOOOOOOOOs are all clinging to their guns and religion about now. :banghead:
-
I can hardly wait for swifty boat john's "peace in our time" speech. Although it seems dear leader wants to take all the credit. This should take the healthcare disaster out of the headlines for a few minutes.

I find them as trustworthy as Obama, if Obama likes my trust he can have my trust period!

Only difference is, the Nazis didn't have nuclear weapons with which to incinerate the Jews.

I hope that if Iran ever launches a nuke at Israel, that they have enough warning to fire every nuke in their arsenal at select Muslim targets with their first one being Mecca.
-
John Kerry may look like Lurch but he's behaving more like Neville Chamberlain. I suspect the same results.

Saudi Arabia was working with Israel. If Iran isn't stopped, and soon, there will be a Nuclear arms race in the ME. Saudi Arabia, United Emirates and Turkey will want them too.

Especially since, just like their prototype Hitler demonstrated, so long as they continue to blow happy talk up Chaimberlain's Lurch's ass, they'll be able to put the pedal to the metal on their nuke program and won't see so much as a "what are those pointy things?" asked of them until long after they're ready to shove the knife in our back.

Saudi Arabia would not ‘sit idly by’ if West fails with Iran (http://english.alarabiya.net/en/News/middle-east/2013/11/23/Saudi-Arabia-would-not-sit-idly-by-if-West-fails-with-Iran.html#_methods=onPlusOne%2C_ready%2C_close%2C_open%2C_resizeMe%2C_renderstart%2Concircled%2Cdrefresh%2Cerefresh%2Conload&id=I3_1385342058861&parent=http%3A%2F%2Fenglish.alarabiya.net&pfname=&rpctoken=97763757)
Saudi Arabia’s ambassador to the UK said on Friday that the kingdom would not “sit idly by†if world powers fail to halt Iran’s nuclear program, calling the Obama administration’s “rush†to embrace Tehran as “incomprehensible.â€

Lurch never sucked Gomez' johnson.

You would think that Obama would take a look at the potential alliance forming between two mortal enemies, the Saudis and the Israelis, and come to the conclusion that he might be on the wrong side of history.
Then again he thought Obamacare was a good idea too.

I don't know which is worse to the credibility of the U.S. This deal or the fact that we a) Let Valerie Jarrett (VALERIE JARRETT!!!!) run the negotiations or b) didn't tell anyone including our closest allies what we were doing until roughly two months ago.
Right now it's a toss up as to which is worse. And in both cases it further damages our credibility and trustworthiness on the world stage.
-

Worse. He's declared the Monroe Doctorine dead. He just gave Russia and China permisison to expand their influence in all areas of the world and we won't do anything to keep them in check.

Does anyone else feel that a President has just too much authority? Our laws shouldn't be subjected to just one man's decisions, depending upon what nut is in office.

Not a president in general...but this one does. And he's taken it by force and the Republicans have just rolled over and let him.

How can the Republicans stop him? If Obama had been a Republican and was doing all this, the left would be out protesting in big numbers. I get the feeling that the electorate just doesn't care.

They don't, if they did that workplace violence incident over a YouTube video would not have been ignored. We all watched it happen, we watched as they blasted Romney for recognizing what happened and dared to speak of it. If the electorate cared about this stuff Obama would be in Hawaii playing golf on his own dime.

Lurch never sucked Gomez' johnson.
That we know of. Personally I think that Lurch was pissed off all the time because Pugsley kept pissing all over the toilet seat.

Sell Iran K-Y jelly so they can stuff their first 2 nukes up Obamawon and Kerrysons ass.
ETA: None needed for stuffing #3 up Ms. Jarret's butt.

So the Saudis are stating they'll take Iran's side if anything is done to them.
Oh, dis gun be gud.

I think the Wahhabbi/Sunni Saudis are afraid of a Shiite Iran.

Drudge had something yesterday to the effect that the IAF had people at Saudi airbases scouting out strike locations. Strangely, the Kingdom did not deny this, apparently.

Iran nuclear deal 'loophole' may allow off-site reactor work
http://www.jpost.com/Middle-East/Iran-nuclear-deal-loophole-may-allow-off-site-reactor-work-332975
VIENNA - Sunday's agreement to curb Iran's nuclear program contains an apparent gap that could allow Tehran to build components off-site to install later in a nuclear reactor where it has promised to halt work, experts said.
They said any impact of the omission is likely to be small if Iran follows other undertakings in the interim accord, which is designed to restrain Tehran's nuclear program for six months in return for limited sanctions relief.
There is a loophole that allows Iran to continue their nuclear program.

It's a feature not a bug. Besides comrade never forget Iran is a tiny country not worth the effort of our brilliant preezy to waste any time on.

Link? I heard the opposite.
Basically, they said they were going to pursue their own path and not go along with the rest of the West.
This, to me anyway, means two things--they're going to kowtow to the people who are willing to control the Strait of Hormuz, and stand against anyone who would destabilize the region.
Neither is good for the US or Israel. And Western Europe is too chickenshit or powerless to do anything on their own.
-
....never forget Iran is a tiny country not worth the effort of our brilliant preezy to waste any time on.
It's only three times bigger than Iraq and has the largest population in the ME.
It's also responsible for most of the terrorism in the world.

Lurch never sucked Gomez' johnson.
He did on Wednesday.

Our brilliant president said Iran is a tiny country, not me.
