NHTSA May Mandate That New Cars Broadcast Location, Direction and Speed
http://www.cnsnews.com/news/article/terence-p-jeffrey/nhtsa-may-mandate-new-cars-broadcast-location-direction-and-speed

Quote
(CNSNews.com) - Before the end of this year, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration will decide whether or not to begin the rulemaking process to mandate that newly manufactured cars include what is being called “vehicle-to-vehicle” (V2V) communications technology that constantly broadcasts via radio wave the car’s location, direction, speed and, possibly, even the number of passengers it is carrying.

“NHTSA expects to make a decision on V2V technology by the end of the year,” a spokesman for the agency told CNSNews.com.

I do not like this one bit. Here is one stupid sheeple comment.

Ah todays fearmongering and hysteria by CNS..

"The upside of a government-mandated movement toward cars that are not controlled by the people riding in them "

Totally unrelated, hysterical conspiracy theory. This has been a recent CNS agenda and they do like the AP, keep their agenda list handy to copy and paste it into other stories to attempt to manufacture relevancy.

Sad. Unprofessional

"Govt controlling cars" is not related to vehicle TO VEHICLE comms. # of occupants is not material to V2V comms.

And I know comms...

This is all hysteria manufactured by writers with ZERO technical knowledge of what they write.
Stupid is strong in this one.  :mental: :loser:

If you like your car you can keep it, period!

Some restrictions apply, only available in some states, offer only valid for well qualified customers, see your local IRS agent for details.

they will engineer it so the car won't run if it is disabled.

That ain't funny....it's to close to the truth. The government will require you to install one on your older cars/trucks.

What we need is a 10 million crazy gun owners surprise march on Washington D.C......with 'moving' target practice to start at the city limits.

They tap our phones, our computers and now our cars. They want to know where you are and what you're doing every minute of the day....They know they've pushed people just about to their limits.

Like Rush says the best comedy is based on the truth.

The reality is, they don't need to put a black box in your car, they have everything they need to track you either in your pocket or latched onto your belt. This device has gps, a microphone, and internet access. Unless you pull the battery out you can not turn it off, it may appear to be off but it can be accessed by anyone with the knowledge to do so. We have invited big brother into our lives and are so accustomed to it we dare not travel without it. Orwell predicted the tee vee as the monitoring device, but the cell phone came along and made big brother's job much easier.

I didn't have a cell phone until last spring....in my case it was forced upon me and paid for by a much higher power than Obama and the federal government.....the wife.

All the more reason to have the cheapest, most basic cell phone possible. I'm wondering when the feds are going to ban Tracfones and the other no contract phones that don't require an ID to get set up. Those so-called throw away phones are subversive.

I see a wealth of opportunity for misuse, and not just by the government.  This is really more particular disclosure and tracking info than you have to give up to fly a private plane IFR.
