I just got offered a job!!

Finally, after two F*cking years with exactly ONE interview, a long-time friend with a landscaping business called and asked me to come drive a truck for him! Pay is only $14/hr, no bennies (except he did offer health insurance if I pay for it myself), but it beats hell out of zero.... And it's a LO-O-O-ONG way from the statistical analysis/financial/computer stuff I'm trained for and did for years for lots better money, but that's life in sucko-land these days, I guess..... I meet with him tomorrow to get started!

WOOT!! WOOT!! WOOT!!

. . . (happy dance!) . . . (happy dance!)

Uh, who's been president the last five years?

One wonders what's up with this, because the primitives promised us this wouldn't happen any more.

1. That's wonderful!

Enjoy the change of pace!

4. Thanks!

I'll be enjoying the paycheck more than anything! after almost two years of living on savings/relatives, that is the best part so far. I really don't anticipate staying in it any longer than necessary to get back into something more up my alley. (It's not that I think it's demeaning work--it's just that I go nuts when I'm not stimulating my intellect in some way, and I don't expect to get that kind of challenge by driving a truck.) But I do need the money, and it doesn't seem to be coming in from anywhere else.

6. The most challenging thing about driving a truck is avoiding the knuckleheads on the road.

DU will continue to stimulate your brain.

Don't hit any bridges like someone I know did recently.

I believe it'll be easier for you to find the right thing for you when you aren't so worried about making ends meet.

8. I do worry about those knuckleheads and bridges!

I don't claim to be the best driver on earth, and the friend who hired me just recently bought the truck, so I would hate to have an accident of any kind in his new truck. Especially if it would put him in any kind of a bind--I've been friends with this guy since I was a teen-ager, and we've been through a lot together; I certainly don't want to jeopardize a good friendhip like that in any way.

9. If you expect cars and trucks to screw-up ... you'll be fine.

I'm a nervous wreck when I come home after some of these jobs. Just because you're big doesn't mean people will give you the right-of-way even when they should.

You'll feel better after a week of driving.

It's the overconfident drivers who make the biggest mistakes.

2. Congratulations, lastlib!

You must be so relieved. In fact, I just sighed a sigh of relief for you.

5. HUGE relief to see an income again, instead of just out-go!

Thanks! But I'm still going to be looking for something else I can sink my teeth into and get some intellectual stimulation from. That's what I'm about, not so much driving a truck and getting no mental exercise from it.

He's going to make pretty close to the WalMart rate, except WalMart offers 401K, profit sharing, a stock purchase plan, and a health plan.

It sounds like this DUmmy's friend arrived too late at the Home Depot parking lot this morning, and all the mexicans were gone.

The DUmp should boycott this landscaper.

Good luck to you, lastlib. Maybe real conservatives will eventually be back in charge of the government and you'll be able to go back to your chosen career field.

When you walk lockstep into the voting both at the next election you should remember this and ask yourself if you want to keep the status quo and keep driving a truck or do you want to go back to the higher paying statistical analysis/financial/computer stuff.

edit to add: I don't know why I said the above. The loons voted for what we have twice.

Considering a job driving anything requires drug tests, I seriously doubt any primitive could get such a job.

If you were any good at it, you wouldn't have lost it. I know for a fact the best analysis/financial/computer people never missed a day. You aren't doing it anymore because you're lousy at it.

Stick with the truck. After 10 years or so you might work your way up to sub-par.

This scares the hell outa me! I just can't wrap my mind around one of these fools behind the wheel of a truck!

Another liberal.

I have a feeling the guy that runs the landscaping business already experiences a lot of turnover, so when this moonbat doesn't work out, he's got another one already lined up for the job.

He's going to drive a pickup towing a utility trailer packed with weed whackers and lawnmowers.

He probably won't even need a social security number.

Of course he thinks the job is demeaning, otherwise he would not have put that sentence in.  Similar to beginning a statement with "I'm not a racist, but..." or "Not to change the subject, but..."

And after he drives the truck to the landscaping job site, one wonders how he will will react to the realization that everyone on the truck does other stuff, such as pushing a shovel, hauling plants, operating mowers, laying sod, etc.  This job won't last long.

That is not a living wage. You need to organize, unionize and strike against your "friend" to get what you deserve.  :angryvillagers:

How many days does DUmmie have to work to get "unemployment".....and the day after that, DUmmie will "hurt" his back and put in for disability.

He should contact rsmithnumbers for tips on truck driving.

A utility trailer is an absolute bitch to back up compared to a longer trailer.

I completely missed the not-a-living-wage issue.  Hard to believe the "friend" had the nerve to offer such a position to the DUmmy, or that the DUmmy would accept it.
