Title: Just to be clear: Even though there are natural causes it's still your fault

Volcano under Antarctic ice may erupt, accelerate melting

A newly discovered volcano rumbling beneath nearly a mile of ice in Antarctica will almost certainly erupt at some point in the future, according to a new study. Such an event could accelerate the flow of ice into the sea and push up the already rising global sea levels.

The fact that is could do so all on its own is dismissed.

It can only exacerbate what humanity is doing wrong already.

The volcano could blow destroying the polar ice caps but it was your SUV that tip us over the edge.

We obviously need a government program for this.

Quote
When the volcano will blow is unknown, "but it is quite likely" to happen, Amanda Lough, a graduate student in seismology at Washington University in St. Louis, Mo., told NBC News.

"At some point, it is going to erupt," she said. "Is it going to erupt in any of our lifetimes? That is not something that we can pinpoint."

And when it does erupt, she added, "there would be an increase in melting around the area. … You would add water to the system beneath the ice sheet … and that could cause that ice stream to speed up."

2. And then we have the caldera beneath Yellowstone--ready to blow up half the US. nt

On Edit: The nuclear winter following the eruption of the Yellowstone volcano would sure fix our global warming problem!

What? No hidden fault-finding clauses such as, "Volcano -- such as one theorized to contribute to dinosaur extinction -- could erupt worsening US smog."

I hate it when people interrogate themselves, AND provide the answer.

Would it not be just as simple to state that they don't know when something is going to happen, for example, 'We have no idea and cannot predict with accuracy when this will happen.'

There never is any grand scheme thinking, is there? The North Sea used to be dry and was a part of a migration route for many ice age animals. Of course the sea is rising, and sometimes it falls.  Heck, Cincinnati was under a shallow sea at some point as well.  It's never stopped changing.

It's part of Proglodytes self-deification.

They are Perfect and now that they're here this is exactly how the earth ought to be and anything that causes change from their preferred state is a sin against them.

Years ago, my Dad used to pick up sharks teeth in the Missouri Ozarks.

It's part of Proglodytes self-defecation.

They are Perfect now.

Fixed it.

The course of history has been altered in numerous ways by  changes in the climate.  Native Americans came to North America via a land bridge that once connected Russian and Alaska.  The Angles, Saxons and Jutes likely left their homeland in continental Europe for England due to rising sea levels and flooding.  It is in fact very possible that the British Isles were connected to the rest of Europe at one point by Doggerland, but that rising sea levels at the end of the last ice age covered the area with water.  All of this without any significant human industrialization to effect the climate.

The climate has been changing constantly throughout human history.  Fortunately, we are among the most adaptable species on the planet and are able to survive, and even thrive, in a variety of climates.  Humanity is capable of adapting to whatever climate changes the  planet decides to throw at us.  The constant moaning about the damage we are inflicting on the planet is human megalomania at its finest.  We want to believe that we are important enough to change the climate of a planet which has been changing since the very beginning.  We want to credit ourselves with the changes in the climate, and are foolish enough to believe that we have a chance of stopping climate change.

Global climate change is what led to the Age of the Vikings.

Damn that George Bush!

The algorescientists say the level of the oceans is rising by maybe one or two millimeters per year, which means in a hundred years it could be nearly a foot higher. Twelve inches in a century. Not that the level of the oceans has ever been constant since they formed.

But wait, other scientists have moaned for decades about how it's nearly impossible to measure sea level with millimeter accuracy. The measurement is confounded by barometric pressures, minute variations in planetary and lunar gravitional influence, minute variation in the earth's own gravity around the globe, causing tiny bulges and depressions in the affected water. The level of the water is affected also by winds and weather systems, minute variation in the specific gravity of the ocean water, and, finally, temperature.

Yet algorescientists can detect that one or two millimeters per year and use it to predict Armageddon and condemn the energy required to operate civilization.

Algorescientists are like many scientists in that they're working every day not just in the interest of science but also to support their families. Their lifeblood is grants. Without grant money they cannot support their families. The current global political climate forbids grant money to anyone who questions the established algorescientist orthodoxy. Skeptics are simply starved out of the field.

But that wouldn't provide them with the opportunity to rub your nose in the "fact" that they're smarter-er than you, now would it? :-)

Volcanoes are caused by fracking.

I was about to correct you, by saying that it wasn't on Tee Vee, but in Congress, where that particular moment of leftist smarter-er-ness reared it's ugly head, but I was in error. It wasn't Hank Johnson, but CNN's Deb Fayerick (http://www.outsidethebeltway.com/cnn-anchor-asks-if-approaching-asteroid-was-caused-by-global-warming/) who birthed that particular moment of leftist brilliance.

I stand humbled by the awesomeness of your recollection, sir. :cheers1:

I  don't remember details just a few facts now and then . I spend way too much time on reading online news.

Volcanoes are caused by fracking.
Fracking is caused by glow bull warming. Fracking also causes islands like Guam to tip over.
