The Context Behind Nancy Pelosi's Famous 'We Have to Pass the Bill' Quote
On NBC News’ Meet the Press Sunday morning, host David Gregory resurrected a favorite right-wing attack on the Affordable Care Act, asking House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) to defend her 2010 comment that “we have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it, away from the fog of the controversy.â€

...Here’s how Pelosi’s quote was covered by Politico on the day she made it:
Pelosi: People won’t appreciate reform until it passes
Speaker Nancy Pelosi said Tuesday that people won’t appreciate how great the Democrat’s health plan is until after it passes.
“You’ve heard about the controversies, the process about the bill…but I don’t know if you’ve heard that it is legislation for the future – not just about health care for America, but about a healthier America,†she told the National Association of Counties annual legislative conference, which has drawn about 2,000 local officials to Washington. “But we have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it – away from the fog of the controversy.â€
During a 20-minute speech, she touted benefits she thinks will be tangible to the audience’s employers. She said there’s support for public health infrastructure and investments in community health centers that will reduce uncompensated care that hospitals now need to deliver.
“You know as well as anyone that our current system is unsustainable,†said Pelosi (D-Calif.). “The final health care legislation, which will soon be passed by the Congress, will deliver successful reforms at the local level.â€

No primitive responses, but I always wondered what Bela meant, when she said that.
-
I understood what she was trying to say. She was trying to let everyone know that she is senile and was happy to find out that the bill provided unlimited coverage for mental illness.

I still think Bela was afraid other lawmakers, and the public, would read it before it was passed.

Did you hear her try to explain that YOU CAN KEEP your healthcare... but only if it hasn't changed since 2010. The grandfather... the 2000... You Can keep it... if it hasn't been changed...
(pretty much as she said it, folks, on "Sunday's Meet The Press")

As I watched this doddering old fool try defend the indefensible I came to believe that it was caused by a combination of Botox and her wig being hooked on too tight.

This is all it is ----> :panic: :panic: :panic:
The DUmocratic party lied to the voters. Period.

My take... she and others that passed this abortion of a law can spin until they turn blue in the face. It will not matter. Too many people are seeing the results of being the "losers" of this bill. It is redistribution from the ones that make money to the ones that take it. I think these out of touch idiots just did not realize that when you piss off people in the millions, you gonna lose. These idiots didn't get the message in 2010, thanks to the MSM, and they ain't getting it now. Difference is, this is hurting people and it is now a reality. Cannot spin reality.
Now the GOP can have an epic landslide if they can run candidates that can keep from putting their feet in their mouths. My message to the GOP candidates is this: When asked about abortion, and you will be asked, say the following: "That issue is for another day. When your house is burning down, you do not concern yourself with your 14 yr old daughter being pregnant. You get your family out of the house and put out the fire. Social issues can wait for another day."
I've seen way too many GOP candidates say stupid shit about procreation, abortion, whatever, that costs them the election. The house is burning down. Gotta win the election and then we can debate about social issues after the fire is out.

1. The One Percenters always know what is best for us
Who are we to cross examine their edicts? They are the makers of the work we do to stay alive.
Speaking of one percenters who think they know what is best for us:

You guys are being much too lenient on the Mark of the Beast DUmmie. I realize that the DUmmie has shown his/her/its total lack of intelligence by considering a direct quote of the words of the perpetually surprised looking representative from California as attacks, but is the fact that the DUmmie is possibly too stupid to function without some sort of instruction a reason to be so lenient?

Two part trivia question on the subject of Coach's topic...
What is the significance of the nickname "Bela" ?
Who was the first person to coin the nickname for the face stretched botoxed one ?

The filthy scrunt that would swing it.

I believe that it is a reference to Bela Lugosi, the actor who placed Dracula. I think that Franksolich was the first to come up with the nickname.

2. Yeah it's another stupid republican lie
Takes much more to debunk than it does to say.
Once upon a time, in a land far, far away, someone invented the videotape machine. It also had audio capabilities.

Cut out Bela Pelosi and you are left with a picture of Steny Hoyer and John Lewis strolling while holding hands. Looks sorta silly.

I noticed that too. It reminds me of young children holding hands while crossing the street or a parking lot. Usually a responsible older one and a younger one. No idea which one would be the responsible one if that is the case.

The DUmb, leading the DUmber. Again no way to know who is who.

Typical Leftist dogma. No examples what so ever.

We have a winner !
Michael Savage may have borrowed the idea from coach.

:hammer: You stole my post, Chris. It looks exactly like he's carrying a purse! :rotf: Fairies.

They do look rather silly, don't they? Plus the purse!!!!

As I best recall, the remark really had to do with the fact that the bill went to a vote in less than the 72-hour time that would typically be required for a House Resolution to be digested between its finalization and an up-or-down vote, and was uttered in response to terroristic quibbling about that point by evil Republican TEAhadists, so beating her to death with it now is entirely appropriate
-
That almost looks like 'bloody hands' Cummings, in that photo.

Probably Pelosi's since she has her hands full with that ceremonial gavel.
