WASHINGTON – President Obama announced Thursday he would offer an administrative “fix†to a provision in the Affordable Care Act -- or ObamaCare -- that forces millions of Americans to lose their existing health coverage by directing insurance companies to allow affected policy holders to renew their old coverage.
The president said states and insurers can extend current policies canceled under health law for a year.
“I completely get how upsetting this could be for many Americans,†Obama said.
White House officials say a letter going out to state insurance commissioners will specify that current plans sold to existing customers will not be considered out of compliance with the health care law in 2014.
A rash of canceled policies -- primarily for people in the individual insurance market, whose plans are now considered sub-optimal under the new health care law's coverage standards -- have prompted public outrage toward Obama and broken promises.
It's uncertain how the president's "fix" will affect House Democrats who have been calling for a legislative solution -- as the Republicans are offering.
While the administration is granting new flexibility, it remains to be seen if state regulators and insurance companies will exercise the option.

Band-Aid for a bullet wound.
Meanwhile, the O's poll numbers continue to slide.
-
This is insane. How many insurance companies and Democrap Gov's are going to go along with this?

He said you can keep your insurance.....through 2014 but I didn't hear any guarantee for any time after that.

Holy shit. So why did the Dims shut the government down again?

Dicktater dicktates.
-
This is impossible,he cannot legally disallow aspects of the law by fiat nor can insurance companies meet state regulations recreating plans at this late notice.
-
But...but...but...I thought this was the law of the land? :???:
-
What he basically just did was make it a theoretical possibility that the junk insurance people had can be available again, but just for a year. Meanwhile the logistics of such a move will be close to impossible. So all this fix does is shifts blame from 0bama to the evil insurance companies. What he did was open up unicorn hunting season.

If the gop is smart they will constantly remind the American people that it was the democrats who rushed to vote for this turd before they read it and are responsible for it regardless of whatever manuevering king barry is trying to do now.

Not really. If he gets what he wants, the cancellation notices will go out again next October, just in time for the election.

Or remind them that they tried to do this back in October, but the dems wouldn't hear it.

I'll bet the extension is eventually stretched to the end of next year. That said, I don't think this fix will work or is legal.

I agree. Its tyranny sprinkled on top of an unconstitunal law.

Back in the real world, The Association of State Insurance Commissioners announced (within about two minutes of the end of the press conf.) reinstating the old policies would be virtually impossible.

You mean like all the layoff notices that went out last October and November??

Kinda, but on a much larger and painful scale. The ass-licking media were unable to sweep the insurance cancellations of several million under the rug the same way they did the layoffs.
Can you imagine the rage if this were to play out again next year?

IF YOU HAVE TO FIX THE LAW, THEN THE LAW WAS ****ED UP AND YOU LIED!!!! PERIOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :argh: :argh: :argh: :argh: :argh:

So what we have now is owebuma is a racist and a terrorist for trying to modify owebumacare. Remember when wascally wepublicans got accused of the same exact thing ?

A few things here so hang on while I go through them
1st. This isnt a fix. It isnt even designed to be a fix. Its designed to turn the insurance companies into the "bad guys" and an easy target for Obama to bash around. This "fix" is designed to pass the buck onto them and when the insurance companies say they are unable to change their plans(due to Obamacare laws already on the books) Obama would then run around saying "look! they wont let you keep them but I wanted you to. I tried as hard as I can, trust me" It was a political move and nothing more
2. Its not going to happen. Multiple states have come out and said they simply cannot change anymore because it is to late. States run by Democrats mind you. So this isnt going to happen right out of the gate because there just isnt enough time to do it. If they did this a while ago, sayyyy before the shutdown, then yes, it would work. But he waited and now is sinking with the ship.
3. It isnt legal either. Howard Dean of all people came out and asked how he could do this legally, the answer was that he couldnt. If he tried then it would be very easy for anyone to sue Obama and the government to force the regulations to go through and continue this disaster.
Really, this didnt work at all. He tried to pass the blame and no one was buying it. We may be watching, for the first time in his reign, an inability to pass the blame. He owns this, and he is trying not to.

Once again, we have our "glorious leader" voting "present".
Truthfully, when I read the title, I thought Barry was going to repeal this turd. (Yeah, right). :rotf:

No kidding.
This bullshit is like running your car with no oil in the engine, then putting oil back in it after it seizes up, expecting everything to run just fine.
Barry Bigears is a DUmbass! :hammer:
