PTSD nightmares.

Ugh, I hate waking up in a panic or in tears from these nightmares. Seem to be getting worse, more frequent and more intense. Stressful situations in my life are making it worse.

2. How I wish there was a solution

for both of us. I've been doing this for over 50 years. Average 2-4 per week. I'm not used to it by any means, after all this time. I've come to expect it. I let the tears flow to get it out of my system. But, it usually stays with me emotionally all day. I know exactly what you are talking about.

That is why yellow makes him sad.

It's pretty telling that one primitive suggests that Dennis the Menace try yet another pharmaceutical, rather than dealing with what's really bothering him.

I have nightmares on occasion myself, but they're generally innocuous.

One of those nightmares is about my dining with Dr. Alexis Carrel, and recounting my constantly being chased by a really short man, for reasons unknown to me.

And I don't mean the booze, I mean the bottle.

It's perfect for whacking oneself in the head. Then the EMT's can
have a nice drinky poo when they find the body...

I know how he feels, I feel the same way after reading the news in the morning.

You know, it's very hard, trying to decide which primitive's the most pathetic, Dennis the Menace or the locust primitive.

For the moment, I'm giving the razor-thin edge to Dennis the Menace.

I mean, the guy's 43, 45, years old, somewhere in there, and still lives at home with his mother.

And his teary tales about his mean old dad are of course made up.

And besides, even if such stories were true, they all happened 30, 35, 40 years ago, which to me seems a rather long time to hold onto grudges and bad feelings.

The general consensus seems to be that the locust primitive is really immature, but I think Dennis the Menace's immaturity is w-a-a-a-a-a-a-y underrated.

DUmmies are a sad and pathetic bunch.

Maybe my life has been too dull and normal. I can't ever recall in my life having a "nightmare" that would wake me up, even in the 8-10 years after Laos when I would have a dream or two. So I give Denninmi and ThingsGottaChange a couple of bongs for their attempt to garner sympathy!

Actually, dreams and nightmares occur during REM (http://medical-dictionary.thefreedictionary.com/REM+sleep) sleep, when the mind is throwing out the trash or guilt, and getting ready for the next day - or misadventure.

I had them as a child but grew out of it as I got past 8-9 years old.  I can't imagine anyone over 18 with those kinds of issues.

I still have nightmares, but usually when I've been extremely tired and kept running on coffee. The caffeine seems to be a major influence for me.

They are both pathetic liars.  PTSD? From what their old man applying leather to their ads when they needed it?  Even then they don't get it right.  It's just being used as the latest excuse as to why they can't possibly take any responsibility for their ****ed up lives.

Minidenny, loconuts, get your notepads out because I am going to do you a favor.  You see, I actually have a case of PTSD.  You want to know what it is really like?  When it is active I may have dreams, but they don't wake me.  During the day, it doesn't stop me from working, though it will make me distracted and irritable.  Here is another secret, the best way to control it is to relieve current stress.  Further, it can be treated so all the pathetic meeting the DUmmies do is just that much more pathetic.

I will almost guarantee I have been through worse shut than those two slugs.  I know there are people on this board that have been through worse than me, and yet we somehow still function.

But, the difference between you (or anyone else here) and them is this:  You take responsibility for whatever--your actions, your life--and you move on.  They want someone to take responsibility, and blame, for their feelings/actions and absolve them for the same.  We clean the chalkboard and move on.  They wait for someone else to do it for them.

I have to wonder how many of the mental healthcare professionals who treat the DUmmies know the DUmmies post regularly on DU and what said professionals would think of it.

Based on my very few psychology classes in high school and college, I would think that posting at a nut house made up of people who think up is down and who essentially encourage and applaud mental illness would be frowned upon. I'm sure the DUmmies view DU as a support group, but a support group is intended to aid you in climbing from the morass instead of proudly sinking you deeper.

I've always suspected that psychiatrists, psychologists, and other mental health professionals would frown upon their patients hanging around internet message-boards, especially extremist fringe ones such as Skins's island.

I'm sure that's why we no longer see the subway cat; her loving caring sisters had the guts to do what her mother didn't, and got her put away in a safe place where hanging around on the internet isn't allowed.

That's my take. The DUmp should be put out of business in order to improve the public good. Making the lunatics there think that they are in anyway, shape, or form a part of decent and civilized society only reinforces their psychosis and is detrimental to any hope they could recover or heal.

I always thought that, so as to guard against possible litigation if a mentally-ill primitive gets hurt in some manner by another primitive, my fellow alum Skins should demand that a mentally-ill primitive before being granted posting privileges, mail him a real-life black-ink-on-white-paper note signed by a professional mental health practitioner, giving the primitive the okay to hang around Skins's island.

The mentally-ill are vulnerable to predators, for which Skins's island is rife, and I'm very surprised that in the thirteen years of its existence, Skins's island hasn't been sued by a nut alleging some sort of damage.

<<<always looking out for the safety and well-being of the primitives, because they're not capable of it themselves.

Funny you should mention this - a few years ago I mentioned the DUmp Mental Health forum to a lawyer friend who had a look and he was amazed that it exists. It creates the possibility of liability for David Allen because it didn't have a disclaimer that nutbars and loonys shouldn't construe the forum as a way to get or use advice. I wonder if Skins put a disclaimer on there somewhere...

Or, barring the above, but to protect against possible litigation, I 'd suggest that comments made by mentally-ill primitives, once submitted, go into "administrative review," before they show up at campfires on Skins's island.

In other words, that my fellow alum, the elusive enigmatic Elad, or Lord Marblehead EarlG, first review all posts made by mentally-ill primitives, to see if they're well-advised, or if it's better that the comments be pitched, unposted.

I've never seen such a disclaimer, and it's obvious from the way the subway cat was allowed to run rampant on Skins's island like an unhousebroken puppy with a relentlessly-productive alimentary canal, that no, no such disclaimer's ever existed.

So if I'm a DUmmy and a lunatic (redundant) and I want some easy money, I claim that my illness is encouraged and indeed perpetuated by DU. All that would be required for a modest cha-ching would be a lawyer who would take my case, and a little patience.

Dennis the Menace has serious credit card debt, no?

Bingo.

I'm surprised this potential exists, because really, my fellow alum Skins is no dummy.

The only reason I can think why it hasn't already been done is that the primitives themselves tend to be dull, unimaginative beings, having not the cerebral skills to think of it.

NB: I said a little patience. That would explain it all.

Another thing my fellow alum needs to do, so as to maintain the dignity and reputation and good name of Skins's island, to keep it from being known as a wacko extremist fringe message board, is to put certain other primitives on "hold for administrative review" before their comments show up for the public to read.

So that the place doesn't look silly.

Take, for example, addled Judy, the pie-and-jam grasswire primitive.  Her comments should be held until after Skins, Elad, or EarlG have first contacted her guardians to see if it's okay with them that mom, grandma, or great-grandma's comments won't cause them any embarrassment.

Or for another example, my twin Atman's comments should be held until one of the Big Three's telephoned his wife, to see if it's okay with her, that his comments get posted in a public forum.
