She Lost Her Job Over This Photo; Find out Why
http://freepatriot.org/2013/11/06/she-lost-her-job-over-this-photo-find-out-why/
Lorraine Cook found out the hard way that Pocatello High School in Idaho doesn’t understand the difference between staff vacation time and work. Cook posted a harmless photo of her with her boyfriend from their vacation to her personal FaceBook page over summer, only to have it resurface later in the hands of her employer. Cook was up until recently, the girl’s basketball coach at the school; they subsequently fired her over this depiction of two consenting adults on a trip.
Parents at the school rallied in support of Cook to have her job reinstated, but the district hasn’t budged. The kicker? Her boyfriend in the photo is Tom Harrison, head football coach at the same school Cook was fired from. Harrison didn’t lose his job though, he was only reprimanded for the photo.
Over a photo? Her boyfriend was not fired. Sadly, many pervert teachers are not fired as they should be. :mental:

I am not seeing anything wrong. Is there more to the story?

I have heard schools banning relationship between staffs. Not sure if that is related to it.

The double standard is going to be the big deal and may have screwed the school district. Firing one and reprimanding the other for the same behavior isn't going to cut it.
The only way the school district is coming to come out on the upside is if this is just one in a line of issues with her (but not him) and they can document previous disciplinary problems.

The hand on the breast? Maybe it's because it's a requirement that all Girls' Basketball Coaches be lesbians and this pic shows that she is not.
-
Yeah, well, it IS Idaho.
And before I get flamed, I went to prototype in Idaho Falls, and spent a lot of my "yute" in the Bear Lake Valley, so trust me, double standards are nothing new.

The guy is feeling her up. It's not that bad, but when you work with kids, it's not a good idea to put stuff that personal on a public forum.
Shows bad judgment to me, but I don't think they should have been fired for it.
Just delete the damn thing and get over it already.

I really don't care if it showed them with her ankles around his head. It was done on private time. Now like someone else said if there is something about them not able to date then both should have been fired. Something else seems off.
Dori, kids shouldn't be on her facebook page.

If facebook had been around when I was a kid, you can bet I would have figured out some way to spy on my teachers.
Even today, when you read about some nut doing something, I start looking for their facebook page.

She should not have slammed her titty into his hand like that. :-)
He was waving for the camera and she just slammed that thing into his hand. :-)

If that's the case, he would have been fired too...

She did 24 hours AFTER posting it and BEFORE any action or discussion was made...apparently she either has an another teacher or parent on her facebook who went tattling to the school.

Who needs enemies with back stabbing friends like that?
Even more reason to not post personal stuff.

No, more reason to be more selective in who one adds to their facebook, especially if they set their facebook to private. I am selective personally. At work, I have only 4 people--2 are retired and 2 I trust as friends. I don't add every teacher my children have had either. I also don't have my ex on my facebook--my involvement with his personal life and his with mine ended when our marriage did. We just phone each other directly or share pics of the kids we think the other would like to see as they go about their adventures being children by text. Of course that doesn't mean someone still won't be a jackass, but it's a better policy then not sharing anything with anyone OR accepting every request that comes along to boost 'numbers'. And I say this because I have local friends who just add anyone and their brother to their facebook; I think that's crazy since most of them share pictures of their lives and their children so I wouldn't want just anyone there anymore then I'd tell a stranger about my personal life.
I think the problem is people treat facebook like a popularity contest and accept every request that comes their way and they have people they don't even know in their private lives. Who would open the door like that to just acquaintances?
I'd bet money that she has a LOT of facebook friends, many of which she just added because she got a request and/or her facebook is totally open to the public. One of those people reported this or a teacher who doesn't like her for whatever reason, not people she'd truly call friends(the real sense of the word, not the facebook sense).
edit to add, I see nothing wrong with the picture. I can see this at any event I go to with my close friends--the lascivious joking about with one's partner that is just being cheeky and silly especially when a few drinks are involved. Hell, some of the games we play at the annual Halloween party we go to(an adult party) always have sexual overtones in non-nudity sort of ways and people wear costumes sometime that border on obscene(like men with the mammgram's here type of thing). Jesus, this is the one of the perks of being an adult and enjoying the trappings of such in moderation with other adults--joking about sex, having a drink with one another, smoking cigars for those inclined, talking shit about work and life, etc. Every damn one of us works our butts to the bone everyday with family obligations, financial obligations, work--the idea that adults want a little time to blow off steam is just not foreign. I just don't see anything wrong with this picture at all. I see two adults probably out with other adults maybe on a boat or at a beach--drinking and getting a little silly and blowing off some steam. And I bring that up because the picture only depicts that so the message is if you are a teacher you can not have any appropriate adult fun since the picture is merely the capture of the behavior and the behavior, imo, does not rise to anything controversial or out of the ordinary for an average adult. *shrug*

Where else would he of put his hand?

Interview with the coach;

An interesting comment;
Is there some national contest that I am not aware of where school districts try to outdo themselves for dumbass HR decisions?
:lmao:

Photo is of poor quality and his hand may have been 3 inches of her breast, a bending of the light, or their posture at the time.

I have a cardinal rule. Absolutely no friends at work. None. Zero. Nada. I work with those people, ergo I don't socialize with them. No FB, no Twitter (I don't even do Twitter). Ergo, no problems when I post something.
Even still, when I post a photo, it's not going to depict that sort of thing -- not that I have a problem with it.
All the same, Pocatello is in the southeast part of the state of Idaho. Lots of potatoes and lots of stupid thinking.

Same here. No one from work is on my friends list for facebook or twitter. Most pictures that I post are of my dog or political humor.

:-)
I keep my Facebook account locked down pretty tight and there is no mention of my employer on it. The big company has a social networking department that likes to look for things. It's amazing the stupid things my co workers will post on social media. One example was a girl that was off work for a back injury after a car accident and she posted pictures of herself dancing at a tavern. She was on paid disability through our company. Loss prevention found out. You can figure out the rest.

I'm typically the same way. I have made very few exceptions to that rule over the years.

My workplace is like that too. I have zero web presence under my real name. Too daggone risky.
