I rest my case.
eta: By that I mean, YES. Every adult citizen should be permitted to vote. Just because the law got you, it doesn't mean you are no longer a citizen who should have a say about our laws and government.
What crimes or felonies has Dick Cheney committed? :???: :???: :???: :whatever:

3. What's interesting about this poll is do you imagine the people in jail to be guilty of crimes?
Or is it more "there but for luck go I?" I mean what is the difference between a criminal and a working class poor person? To some of our Republican Friends there's no real difference and therefore neither group should be encouraged to vote.

to a lesser charge because they know they are largely defenseless, even if they are completely innocent. They are overwhelmed and don't know how to maneuver around something like this, so they get scared and admit to anything to get through the whole ugly ordeal as quickly as possible.
Such a nightmare. There but for the grace of _________________ go I.

Prisons have always been full of innocent people, just ask the prisoners and they will tell you how innocent they are.
The difference between a criminal and a working class poor person is, the working class person can choose not to commit crimes and actually stay out of jail. It's worked pretty well for me.

Yep,be the party of criminals and felons...fits dems perfectly.

Seems fitting, they already are the party of the "dead" voter.

Yeah, Michael does seem especially animated herelately. Born, then abandonded by a German woman with one leg, brought over to this country as an adult? Thought he was an ordained minister, but he isn't anymore. ::)
I saw the plurality of the DUmmies wanted current felons voting, wonder why that is? I wonder how they "feel" about 2A rights for current and past felons? :???: :???:

It's why libs oppose the death penalty, and support abortion. If the unborn could have their votes bought, the libs would perform a 180.

Voting in a federal election should be based on one's federal tax burden.
If one has a federal tax burden of zero dollars, then one gets zero vote.
After that, the votes are on a sliding scale. A tax burden of up to X amount, gets 1/2 a vote, the next increment one vote, then 1.5, and the highest tax burden gets two votes.
It seems reasonable to me that the people paying the most taxes should have a bigger say in how the the money is spent (who is elected to spend it) than someone who pays nothing at all.
There are some who not only have NO federal tax burden, but actually receive a check via Earned Income Tax Credit, where they didn't really earn anything/much, so they get some dollars 'redistributed' to them.
Local elections can have similar rules, but less strict, because not all states have income taxes.

What happened to the good old days where if you messed up and got arrested, you LOST all privileges? Voting? AYFKM? They should be greatful they are still above ground breathing. These idiots are destroying our country.

And when they are no longer above ground breathing they will get to vote again and will vote dem whether they like it or not.

If there was any evidence that felons trend for the GOP in elections the DUmmies would be clamoring felons should not be allowed to vote.

Ayup! H5.

Well, at least we have a good idea who the felons on DU are.

I worked in a prison for several years as a guard, then later in the Education Department of the prison as a Special Ed Teacher's Aid.
Stories commonly heard as to why an inmate was incarcerated include "I had a bad lawyer", "I had a bad case", "My buddies turned me in".
Only rarely did one make an admission as to actual guilt.

I'd be willing to bet that said inmate was in AA, or NA, or another 12-step program.

I had in mind something very similar, but each dollar of tax is a vote.

Definitely need to be US citizens and have skin in the game. Letting the looters set the rules will be the fall of the empire.

Allow only those that PAY taxes (state sales taxes excluded) to vote, regardess if you get it all back on your 1040 or not.

If you have a military ID or an actual DD214 you should get an automatic vote and your ballot (in person or mail in) will be counted first.

I'd be cool with that.
