As A Vet I Don't Take My Countrymen Seriously When They Say Thank You. (http://www.democraticunderground.com/10023980502)
I know it is only lip service and that I wasted my time when I served in the military. American voters rarely put their money where their mouth is. My advice to younger people is to STAY OUT OF THE MILITARY AND REFUSE TO SERVE IF THERE EVER IS A DRAFT. Only suckers serve now. Because the public will never pay to take care of you if you are disabled. I see no outrage about vets losing their food stamps or other benefits.
The fact that our present veterans are coming back to jobs in places like Walmart and Krispy Kreme donuts who do not even want a minimum wage is a travesty. Seeing all these vets losing food stamp money they need should tell the story of where the POS nation is now. And we keep voting in GOPPERS who actually are doing all the cuts.
And when I hear the VFW and American Legion I just want to puke all over these fascists. They have done nothing for the vets in years. And they deserve to die as institutions. Newer vets would be better to avoid those antiquated institutions. All they know how to do is get drunk and wave the flag.
Based on what I see happening to this country we have little left to defend thanks to the Republikkklan party. And there are some Dems who are no better. We call them moderates.
Now that veteran's day is near there will be a few freebies and people will wave the flag to make themselves feel good. Then they will go back to being a bunch of selfish, wasteful, ignorant bastards they have become.
We don't even acknowledge the vets who continue to die in Afghanistan anymore.
True veterans deserve acknowledgement, as I do often when I find out that they served our country. Piss off, Master-bater. :loser: :bird:
Oh, and thanks for your service. If you really did serve.
-
Now that veteran's day is near there will be a few freebies and people will wave the flag to make themselves feel good. Then they will go back to being a bunch of selfish, wasteful, ignorant bastards they have become.
A lot of self projection going on at the DU.
-
Because the public will never pay to take care of you if you are disabled. I see no outrage about vets losing their food stamps or other benefits.
True...we do a lousy job taking care of our vets.
And if you think our vets (and Native Americans) are treated badly, just wait until the whole country is forced to have government run health care.
-
I'm all for thanking TheMestasNemesis for his service, until he starts denigrating the service of others because he doesn't like their politics. Suck a bag of dicks, Bob. They served just like you did. Instead of waving it in everyone's face and whining about it a la YOU and JOHN KERRY, they love their country and want to tip a few at the VFW.
Counting the days until you go postal, what with your daily homicidal rants.
-
Yeah, you're a vet. :whatever:

One of his fellow DUmmies was bragging about getting help from the VA just a few days ago.

As I recall, he's perfectly healthy, and thinks VA will cover all of his medical. (He's trying to avoid paying for cACA.)
Sheesh, does he have a surprise coming. :rotf:

That's a cute story, now tell us the one about the Gummi Bears.
After a bit under 40 years in service, half active and half in the active reserve, I was always a little surprised and pleased when people did this, and it really only started during the Gulf II. For most of the preceding 30 years, except during the Reagan Presidency, Democrat Presidents or Democrat-controlled Congresses treated the military like a poor drunk uncle, aggravated by a Leftist press that wanted everything to be the next Viet Nam so they would have a bunch of cool stories to tell at the bar too. It feels good to not only serve with honor, but then to also be recognized for it instead of reviled.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, this poser is no more a vet than I'm Ghandi, no vet I know of constantly brags about being a vet.
Those of us who served don't go around constantly dropping the "I'm a vet" routine.
Masterbater is full of shit.

I've started making a habit of thanking vets for their service when I see IDers that show they served in Vietnam, and I'm usually in uniform.

That is my experience as well. If I get into a conversation with someone who served, I always thank them. But the ones I tend to respect the most never brag.
-
Wondering what he has done for vets. If he is bitching that others haven't done enough I'm sure he could provide a long list of what he has done.
-
It's just common courtesy to thank a Vet for their service. But common courtesy isn't so common anymore.

This poser hasn't done shit except whine about it on the DUmpster.
I expect MasterBator is going to burn out spectacularly pretty soon and Skin will put the banhammer to him.
He's either a brilliant troll, or an unhinged liberal.

Another cry me a river post. While this may be true, you are angry at the wrong people dummie. Let me give you some perspective: I have a son who has been disabled SINCE BIRTH. What chaps my hide is that the system like medicaid and the help that gives with home health care and disability should serve as a large portion people in situation who TRULY cannot care for themselves or have become so sick work is damn near impossible along with any other personal care. you know who I am angry at when his services are cut? The MOOCHING class that YOU enable and the people who suck up to them. That burden is what weighs the system down and makes it more difficult for people who need the help to get it and at an appropriate level. You should be mad at yourself for enabling that class that is burdening the system and the people you elect who do that same. You only have yourself to blame for the funding not being available to disabled vets because it's going instead to fund the dysfunctionality of baby mama land and all the fruit bats who walk the DU halls who say they can't function because of 'PTSD'. On that note, as a veteren, why does it not piss you off that people on that board you inhabit are degrading PTSD by using it to excuse not to function and contribute? How can you stand arm and arm with people who think going through a tornado or a hurricane or having to do 'grown up stuff' ranks up there with being in a hostile foreign land for months and watching all manners of people die in a war situation? Yeah you can't so you are full of crap. Until you get real with the abuses on your own side, you should keep your shit slinging at 'rethuglicans' to a minimum there buddy.

Yeah, you're a vet. :whatever:

I am thinking that too.

Actually, the DUmmie is right. The VA is ACA compliant. So, if you qualify it is a whole lot less than the exchanges.
-
He's either a brilliant troll, or an unhinged liberal.
I'll take unhinged liberal for $1000, Alex. Impotent bitching on a message board where conservatives can't respond is the epitome of an unhinged liberal. They can complain and spew garbage to their heart's content without ever being questioned.

Well MasterNutjob that's your own fault. I would bet you're pretty much a loser at life. Why don't you do the world a huge favor and suck on the bore end of a twelve gauge. :bird:

Actually, the DUmmie is right. The VA is ACA compliant. So, if you qualify it is a whole lot less than the exchanges.
He thinks it's free. Although less than the exchanges, he'll still be hit with certain costs. (Unless he's DAV)
That's the surprise.

I doubt that, the DUmmies are known for their actions, they never simply just post and leave it at that. The DUmmies are all motivated go getters just look at Amber living the dream that us lazy conservatives are too afraid to peruse.

There is that. It isn't free.

Not only that but, the wait times and quality of service will only be slightly worse than Medicade.

Having been in the Army for almost 17 years, it seems to me that the GOP is nothing like what he describes. The only times that it is tough to be in the military is when a Democrat is in office. They seem to think that there is no need for an army, or a military for that matter. But boy do they love to send us to some shit holes. I went on my first deployment (what we called them pre-GWOT) to Kuwait back in 1998 during what was called 'Desert Fox'.
Apart from that, what he describes as happening to vets may be true, and yes we could do more for our vets. This is what happens when you have .045% of your population who has actually served in the military and the other 99.955% have no clue what we do.
But I call Bulls#*t on his reasons to avoid service. We didn't join the military to be recognized, we joined it because pu**y-a**es like this idiot are incapable of protecting our country. And someone has to do it. It is a tireless job, a thankless job, but we do it anyway. I don't regret any of my time in the military. And Mastersnemesis, all i have to say to you is if you don't like this country and want to defend her, then LEAVE. :bigbird:

To be clear, I believe that TMN served in the military. I don't think that should be in dispute. What SHOULD be a concern is the Kerrylike way he goes about bragging about HIS service and denigrating the service of others. I'm guessing TMN was never walking point in a firefight, since (a) he doesn't have stones, and (b) even if he did, he'd have been fragged.
Every serviceman and woman other than Bob and John Kerry: thank you for your service. You never pay for meal if I see you out eating.

Where do you normally eat out?

That's the surprise.
But A) He said he never got hurt, and B) just happened to remember he served. It's not a case of whether or not the VA is ACA-compliant, but whether or not the DUmbass is eligible. "If" that happened, he was probably a one-termer and not eligible for Tricare or VA healthcare, with the exception of one physical per year if he has an honorable or general discharge, if I'm not mistaken. I served 8. I don't even have to assume what they'd say to me if I walked into the VA demanding free healthcare.
-

Resisting the urge to reply a certain way.
Anywhere you go, baby. Name it.

I have gotten emails (which I didn't check out) that say O'bunga arbitrarily changed the rules to allow veterans with no service connected disability into the VA system.

Just raggin on you. For now, mil. retirement takes good care of us and I feel the same obligation you do.
While waiting for my flight home from Viet Nam at SFO a fellow grabbed me and another returnee I was hanging out with and took us to the fancy airport restaurant. He bought us lobster dinners and got us thoroughly drunk. I'll never forget that man or that day.
-
I cherish each and every person who took the time to shake my hand and thank me. I then turn and thank them for giving me a bright spot in my day knowing that there are people in this country that appreciate my sacrifices. The WWII USMC reunion we had here last month was a great thing. They were in downtown Norfolk visiting some of the local attractions and scores of people came up to shake their hands and to say thank you. You could not have removed the smiles off their faces with dynamite.
-

The only Vets who regret their service with feelings that their time was wasted, had the attitude that they had to work for the military. They tried to do the minimums or less. They never realized or cared that with an attitude of going the extra mile they could make the military work for them.
-
Yeah, you're a vet. :whatever:
:bs:
Yeah I've never bought that either.
-

The health care system or the compensation system? NSC has always been able to get care. They just have to fall into a certain monetary category and may have to pay for their service. SC has priority over NSC and if you're over 30 or 40%, can't recall which, you don't pay for treatment even if it's for a NSC condition.
-
We don't even acknowledge the vets who continue to die in Afghanistan anymore
No. WE do. You and your pathetic band of self-made losers, desperate victims and chronic complainers don't. Why sure. If everyone who returned from the service was as derpy a dipshit as you are (and the jury, here, is still out on that); they would be fortunate to hold a job at Freds All-Night Eats and Massage Parlor. Quite frankly, you try too hard at being the disgruntled Vietnam Vet. I'm fairly convinced it's a pose you struck for sympathy years ago.
No. We go to school, get a degree that doesn't involve weaving reed baskets and touching our inner feminist and then, go to work on our lives. Or, we stay in the Military. You see, most of us don't fall for "the woe-is-me" mindset that turns shit like you into useless lumps of stale garbage. Far from it. I'd do it all over again in a heartbeat, shitbird.

Surprising how true that is. It also works in the private sector.
It's the main reason DUmp monkeys have problems in life. They refuse to observe that simple solution.

I don't know the details, the point of the e-mail was that you could meet the requirements of O'bungacare by joining the VA system. The great thing about the VA is that they are already giving "end of life" counselling.
-
And when I hear the VFW and American Legion I just want to puke all over these fascists. They have done nothing for the vets in years.
And a gentleman I know (who is registered, albeit inactive here) who works for the American Legion national organization would be very upset to hear you say that, Bob. Matter of fact, the VFW and AmLegion have done a GREAT DEAL for our veterans, both active and separating. Things you might never consider, like VA counseling, job and education assistance, mental and medical heathcare referrals, etc., etc..
Which is why I'm a proud member of both organizations. And no, most people don't know I served, unless it comes up in conversation. One guy didn't even believe me until I showed him my life member VFW card, so there's that.
And as far as you hating your time in, well, that shit goes both ways. You are what the NCO corps refers to as "10 percenters."

Masterbater is full of shit.
That goes for just about anything. The people that are good or have actually accomplished don't brag about it. Others not so much. For proof, I give you the DUmp where everyone is generous, smart, and talented.
-

I was at het CBOC today. While I didn't receive any 'end of life' counseling this time around, I was asked yet again about gun ownership. It's as if they feel if they ask me enough I'll finally tell them what they want to hear.
-
So you waste of skin Masterbater, when are you going to repay every ****ing last dime you took from the tax payers for wastng their hard earned cash if you feel it wasn't such a great deal? Those meals were not free and you can bet your sorry ass you enjoyed every last minute of fun you got with all your pay. If you served in any military it wasn't is the US.

QFT.
I admit I get kinda embarassed that someone thanks me. But that's only because I don't look at what I do as being something special or worthy of being singled out...I look at serving as repayment to the country for being allowed to live where I do and have the freedoms (what's left of them) that I have.
That being said I'm always extremely appreciative of anyone who stops me and says that. And I alway smake it a point to thank a WW II vet or a Korean or Vietnam War vet because if they hadn't stepped up and answered the call...I wouldn't have been able to.
And NONE of this ever registers with the short sighted selfish DUmmies...which is why you get idiots like d*ckweed here denegrating his alleged service.
-
And I alway smake it a point to thank a WW II vet or a Korean or Vietnam War vet because if they hadn't stepped up and answered the call...I wouldn't have been able to.
And thank you for doing so. I remember a gathering of vets, many VN era, where we all joined in in welcoming them home. Most of them had never been welcomed, least of all being told thanks. It was pretty raw.
I want all fellow vets to know how much I appreciate them, no matter what or when their service was performed.
-
I want all fellow vets to know how much I appreciate them, no matter what or when their service was performed.
Hey--I appreciate all of the vets here, because of their sacrifices made whenever. I never had the opportunity to serve in combat, and that has haunted me since I got out--I've always wanted to know if I could have handled it. It probably will be the one regret I take to my grave, which hopefully won't be for a long, long time.
Anyway, back on task--Thanks to all of you who served, wartime or not. :cheersmate:
Now that I think of it, before I push the "Post" button, I want to thank all of you on the site, vets or not. It helps me to remember that there's a few more out there that think similarly to me. At times, that can mean all of the difference in the world.
