Obama tries to explain himself (http://www.democraticunderground.com/10023979649)

Obama: "What We Said Was You Can Keep It If It Hasn't Changed Since The Law Passed"
So that clears that up.
Suck it Teabaggers.
PRESIDENT OBAMA: Now, if you have or had one of these plans before the Affordable Care Act came into law and you really liked that plan, what we said was you can keep it if it hasn’t changed since the law passed. So we wrote into the Affordable Care Act, you're grandfathered in on that plan. But if the insurance company changes it, then what we're saying is they've got to change it to a higher standard. They've got to make it better, they've got to improve the quality of the plan they are selling. That's part of the promise that we made too. That's why we went out of our way to make sure that the law allowed for grandfathering.
If we had allowed these old plans to be downgraded, or sold to new enrollees once the law had already passed, then we would have broken an even more important promise -- making sure Americans gain access to health care that doesn't leave them one illness away from financial ruin. The bottom line is that we are making the insurance market better for everybody and that's the right thing to do. (Organizing for Action campaign event, November 4, 2013)

Suck it indeed. If they sincerely think this excuse is going anywhere, they are saddly mistaken.

to me from the very beginning, but incredible that he had to come out and settle it himself with Democrats for more than a week giving different answers. Hopefully we'll see some retractions from Maher and the rest and some of the damage undone by the low-information "liar" chorus.
Denial is an ugly thing.

6. You can keep it as long as they arent trying to cheat you.
Make it simple for simple minds. The plans that were created by greedy corporations specifically to cheat people are being withdrawn by the insurers, because they aren't allowed to maintain the parts used to cheat us.
Those evil corporations, keeping people on plans that they were happy with for years. How dare they?!

10. Yep, his exact wording was "if you like your plan."
Why would you like a substandard plan? I had one person actually argue for a very high deductible health savings account.
What's wrong with an HSA? My family loves ours and have benefited greatly from it.

company.
Oh, so that's what he meant! Just a big old understanding, how silly of those that don't believe him...

Another day, another lie....ho-hum. :whatever:

:lmao: Really? Now you're just looking desperate and ridiculous, as usual.
You can console each other all you want, parroting the assigned talking points to each other in your bubble. Out in the world, people are pissed, and they're not going to listen to a bunch of DUmmies.
-
Spin it all they want, the country looks at it as one thing...a lie.
-
Not gonna work.
If you had asked Dear Leader in 2009-10 if you could keep your plan exactly the way it is, even if the insurance companies go in and tweak it a little bit between then and when obamacare went into effect, he would have said yes, no problem.
If you had asked the primitives the same question, they would have said you could keep that same plan even if it has been adjusted some in the last year or two.
Only the perpetually willingly stupid are going to believe that nonsense and/or try to make that case. Dear Leader lied about it all, he did it on order to try and sell the legislation, and now his lies are catching up with him.

Obama: "What We Said Was You Can Keep It If It Hasn't Changed Since The Law Passed"
So that clears that up.
It took obama's think tank the better part of a week to come up with this half-assed talking point?
No wonder they call em DUmmies.

They act like there's no such thing as videotape in this day and age. He's in front of God and everyone, saying "Period. No matter what."

On my first trip to DU years ago, I read a thread where a DUmmie posted that lies are justified because the "end justifies the means" in response to another DUmmie (probably one of you guys) pointing out said lie. An argument ensued, with the "end justifies the means" being the general consensus. I always knew they thought it, but I was surprised to see them say it.
They are so stupid that they don't even know they're stupid; thus they do not long for what they have lost and for what they are doing to their own country.

12. all people negatively impacted (in the wallet) by the ACA will see this as nothing more than backpedaling and spin. there are about 100 soundbites of him saying nothing that includes this verbiage. the democrats will pay for the problems this has caused through bad communication and sloppy implementation. hitting millions of middle-class (if there is such a thing) Americans in the wallet when they cannot afford it despite having said stupid things like 'your costs will decrease' was a stupid thing to do. the only hope is that by some miracle the implementation improves... dramatically.

ok, which one of you guys is playing around in this campfire? truth will not be tolerated!

Oh for ****s face. :thatsright:

Obama: To United Health, all insurance policies must have maternity coverage.
United Health to Jukin: Obama Care dictates that your policy now has maternity coverage. Your policy now has maternity coverage.
Obama to Jukin: United Health changed you policy so now it is no longer grandfathered. Now you pay twice the premium, have double the deductible, have 60/40 instead of 80/20 and your co-pays have gone up 5 times. You are welcome and it's all United Health's fault.
The only reasonable alternative for me is to self-insure.
-
Wow....no wonder they are so screwed up. They can sure mentally twist themselves inside out to avoid admitting their messiah is an outright liar and deceiver.
-

LOL.
I posted this in the local paper(Detroit Free Press) a few says ago: To the editors of the freep: Expect a call from obama in the near future chastising you for printing the truth. That's against the contract you signed.
-
So he didn't lie, we were just too stupid to decode his message.
I suppose we wrong to assume that when said premiums would go down, that he meant premiums would actually go down. Once again we have egg on our face for not understanding the nuances of his words.
We are so uneducated that when someone says something we expect that they are using words that are defined in the Classic Merriam Webster style, when we should all know by now the words now in use are using the definitions as defined by the new newspeak definition version 2013. So see it's our fault, not 0bama's.

Not one Republican voted for the steaming pile. All the libs did. Especially ones like Landrieu and the Louisiana purchase. Now she is making a showing of being indignant. We need to keep the albatross around her neck that she is trying to shed.

Exactly - there are at least two dozen examples on tape without this new 'caveat' - (read as : 'Lie'.) and none including it, save for the new ones being made after the fact.

She voted against trying to fix it. She knew without a doubt. She is lying scum just like her Messiah.

He's a busy man so he just didn't have time to say it all. We were supposed to understand the last part was implied.
-
He meant to say only those policies that didn't change would be grandfathered...
...but then he demanded every policy be changed...
...but he didn't lie.
-
So he didn't lie, we were just too stupid to decode his message.
I guess it depends on what the definition of a "Period" is.

Many dont understand that the company was cheating them, that the money they paid was going straight into a CEO's pocket, and that the insurance wasn't going to actually cover them in case of need.
How about I hold you underwater for a few minutes? :bird:

Well thank God you came along to tell us all how much our health care sucks, without you we might still be burdened with low premiums, low or no deductible, and low copays. We are so much better paying twice as much for less than half the coverage. How can we every repay you for your help?

went over, couldn't stay. The stink of desperation is overwhelming. Next step go back to blaming the Republicans for not fixing it.

Oh but they have, you see instead of being helpful they tried to kill it.. So therefore it's their fault for the problems.

I had imagined that it was a very large campfire. It's not. Only 15, and ProdigalJunkMail got in the last word. QuakerBoy, normal people out here in the world are not thinking like you. Doesn't it look like the DUmmies are getting more insane by the day?

I'm looking forward to the Gallup numbers over the next few days, now that Team Obama has chosen to blame the general public for not understanding what 'If you like your plan, you can keep it' meant, instead of manning up and accepting blame for misleading.

Old and busted: Obama misspoke.
New Hotness: We misheard Obama.
You see; "If It Hasn't Changed Since The Law Passed" = "Period" = "No one will take it away"= The government will not take it away" = "Your insurance company won't take it away."
Got it? You did not hear what you thought you heard. Obama has decreed that he did not lie ergo you misheard.

Received an e-mail today at work. I redacted the name of the company and other identifying info. Also highlighted the interesting parts in Red.
"Open enrollment for US benefits is scheduled for November 11th – 27th. Communications will start soon about dates for open enrollment meetings and webinars for employees and spouses to attend. This email contains important information about your benefit plans, please take a few moments to read this email in its entirety.
Action:
Plan on attending an open enrollment meeting or webinar to learn about your 2014 benefits.
You must login to "redacted" between November 11th and 27th if you want coverage for medical, dental & vision plans for 2014 based on the new tier structure below.
Background:
Big picture for US benefits. Provisions of Healthcare Reform are beginning to take affect for many Americans, here’s what it means to "redacted" -
• ~$3M - 2013 Medical Device Industry tax on revenue to due Healthcare Reform
o This number is expected to increase again for 2014 and future years and comes directly off of our profit margins
• 1.1M - "redacted" US Benefit renewal increase with no plan design changes (8.8%)
o Approximately $450K or 4.2%, is due to taxes and administrative fees from the Affordable Care Act (ACA) that the carriers are passing directly on to us
In total, "redacted"’s expenditures due to Healthcare Reform is ~$3.5M, so far….
Therefore, employees enrolled in the medical plans will see a significant increase in per pay period contributions based on personal benefit elections in 2014.
[/b]
A change you will see as employees is how the per pay period premiums will be split. This change means each employee that wants benefits for 2014 must make elections through "redacted" in November.
Before After
Conclusion:
It is more important than ever that you as a participant and consumer of health and wellness plans, attend and be knowledgeable about your healthcare choices.
We look forward to seeing you in the coming weeks!"
I HATE ALL OF YOU STUPID OBAMA VOTING MOTHER F**KERS!

There was a caller on Neil Cavuto's show today. He and his wife had a policy that cost them $700 a month. They were cancelled. He said a new Obama policy will cost them $1300+ a month and a $12,000+ out of pocket. He said when you add the monthly premiums to the out of pocket that their insurance would be $28,000 per year. They also lost their doctor they've had for 16 years.
I honestly can't see people paying these amounts.

Their plan was a junker car. Or as Carville would say, a bicycle that if called a car doesn't make it a car. Now they will have a brand new shiny car, but they probably won't like the lease agreement.

My default description of owebumacare is a steaming pile. Are there any moped models named steaming pile ? Then both our metaphors could merge.
