11. I have four more gifts to buy, two to make .... and I'm done !!!
Got all my replacement bulbs for the tree lights, downloaded some new recipes to try, have my cards ready to go.. Usually I wait until about a week before Christmas for most of this stuff so I thought I'd try doing it like normal people ... just to see what it's like.

13. putting up lights is a waste of electricity!
what a miserable excuse for a minister.
-
Not to mention all those sugar plums made with high fructose corn syrup.

That guy must rack up 100+ posts per day. The majority of his replies are a single word like "yup" or "agreed", he rarely needs to use anything but the subject line. I think he's a mole trying to get his post count up.

That does seem possible. With the death of TMFKABTGOP, it moves into the 'more than 45%' realm.

He is real,he is a part of a leftist community that fronted itself as a "church" most likely for tax exempt status.

You know for those who celebrate Christmas,
Jesus wasn't even born of December 25th!
http://www.democraticunderground.com/10023967738
Didn't they do all this last year, and to what end? Christmas came anyway, some of us even enjoyed the festivities with families. You DUmmies should try it sometime.

I thought this was a nice pleasant response in the "I Love Christmas" thread, the counter to the hate one

17. I love putting up little Christmas lights.
But, the DUweasel steps on it, or attempts to

25. that's using energy that could be used elsewhere
While you are whining about little lights, did you consider, you piece of excrement, that the $ you gave Skimmer for a star could have gone into a food basket for some hungry little kid you people "claim" to care about? Hypocrisy is rampant at DemocratDUnderground.

I think I found a problem in your premise, highlighted above . . . :whistling:
-
Damn, I wish I were a billionaire....I'd put lights on every tree in the county....and burn all the coal WV could produce to generate the electricity.
-
Waste electricity, crap?
In your pathetic little world maybe, but it puts money in my wallet, thank you very much.
-
People sitting at a computer in a climate controlled, well lit room complaining about wasting energy.
-
DUmbass is strung out on drugs. It's not even Thanksgiving yet.
What a sorry, sad, little man.
-
What bitter and sad people they are. Christmas for most people is a fun time of year where they enjoy the company of family. Since the DUmmies have all disowned their families because there may be one or two repukes in the mix, it's no wonder they are so bitter.

What is he supposed to be the minister of?

I'm beginning to think he's actually Grumpy Cat posting at DU.

The church of satan.
Really :???:
-
Hey primitives:
I only use C9 bulbs to decorate outside anymore. 200 feet of C9 goodness scores me roughly the same amperage/watt load of running your typical microwave for hours each night.
I sure appreciate you primitives saving your electricity so I can waste it during these winter months on my lurid light display.

Really :???:
Well maybe not the official church of satan, but anyone who thinks as he does is not a servant of God.

Yeah, I figure if you check the small print on any of there literature it will say something along the lines of: Hate Everything Ministries a subsidiary of Lucifer International.

Ran for US Congress in 1990 from the left. Chairperson of 1989 city advisory initiative calling for 10% reduction in military spending to be divided among deficit reduction and mass transit and social services. 3. Thank Obama for making changes but it says they are force-feeding them. If they did not, I assume they would eventually starve to death. Would that not be more cruel? Or would it be more humane to let them escape their misery in that horrible place? I do not envy Obama that decision.

That's a good start, but I don't see his neighbors suffering from the effects of a brownout yet, so he still has some work to do.
This is why I am a big proponent of the energy-hogging C9 bulb. I can consume the same wattage that almost 100 LEDs would use with just a single C9.

It's lurid, but it could go one better.

Well DUmbasses, I LOVE Christmas!!! Maybe if you learned the joy of giving to others, you wouldn't be so miserable!!
They love giving to others, they just want everyone else to pay for those gifts. That explains why they hate Christmas they have to spend their own money.
-
Well one must admit that it does get earlier and earlier that the Xmas season begins.
Hubby went shopping and came home with a gripe, one store he went to already was playing holiday music for Xmas. WTF, we still have a couple weeks to go before Thanks Giving. Why even bother to take down the lights from the house if Xmas is now pushed back to early November, next year perhaps October.
This man of mine loves Christmas, he takes life and limb in hand to climb on the roof to put up the lights, messes about outside with the lights on the shrubs------You see as a kid his family was too poor to do this. My family just put up a tree and planted it in the front window.
Christmas is a time to celebrate, not a time for gimmes and I want and expect something from others. One present or even just a phone call to friends and family , a card saying ---I Love You ---should be enough.
There are stores that put up stickers so people can donate to poor family's for their kids. I helped deliver the toys to these kids that by the end of the day the gifts were broken or smashed, the kids were overwhelmed with all this. The Parents were in another room ignoring the kids as they had spent their money on booze and drugs. What did Christmas mean to any of them ?
In my family much to their distress, we give gifts such as a years membership in AAA or a card for a food store or something that is needed not wanted. A small toy to the kids or a cd of music to the teens but that is that.
The children's gifts are up to their parents, ever notice few of us are thanked for a gift as one is expected from us but they the receiver do not acknowledge our gift.
Sort of like sending a wedding gift and never getting a thank you or a card .
-
I think so many people have forgotten the true meaning of Christmas and what the gift giving really symbolizes,(the Magi's gifts to the Christ Child), It is probably why The Drummer Boy is my favorite Christmas hymn. It's one child's gift from the heart to another.

I've heard it represents the gift Jesus gave humanity by coming into this world.

Actually, we are both correct
http://www.articlesbase.com/news-and-society-articles/the-history-of-gift-giving-at-christmas-415390.html
The main theological basis of this religion is based on the fact that God himself gave humanity "His only begotten Son", Jesus Christ, who was a "gift" to mankind
Even at the time of His birth, Jesus Christ was associated with gift giving. When He was born, the three Wise Men brought gifts to the newborn babe to honor Him.

I detest that rump pumping drummer boy song with a passion. If a song could make you physically ill, that one would do it for me.

What the hell difference does that make? For Christians it's a celebration of the birth of our Lord, a man whose purpose was to die for all of our sins. To those who don't celebrate the birth of Christ it's just a damn fun holiday. Sheesh!

Very true. Christmas used to be a 12 day period of celebration from December 25 to January 6, which is Epiphany.

I love the Christmas season. All of it. My biggest problem is my energy level always seems lower during the colder climates and shorter days.

Dori, many people get very depressed at this time of year, especially around the holidays. Knowing I have at least 5 months of cold and dreary is depressing in itself
