Actually work is a Biblical punishment
http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Genesis+3
17 To Adam he said, “Because you listened to your wife and ate fruit from the tree about which I commanded you, ‘You must not eat from it,’
“Cursed is the ground because of you;
through painful toil you will eat food from it
all the days of your life.
18 It will produce thorns and thistles for you,
and you will eat the plants of the field.
19 By the sweat of your brow
you will eat your food
until you return to the ground,
since from it you were taken;
for dust you are
and to dust you will return.â€
end of quote
I was watching Chris Hayes tonight and he had the Congressman who was talking about the Biblical blessing of work and specifically mentioned God having Adam and Eve work the Garden of Eden. That is the exact opposite of what went down in the Bible. I am no Biblical scholar but even I knew this story.

Yes, when Man fell from Grace we were then tasked with taking care of ourselves.
So when are you going to start?

You really need to invest in a mirror ... and a good psychiatrist.

Once the libs finish their work on their utopia, no one will have to work. And by no one, I mean everyone will have to work overtime to clean up that mess.
-
To work the Garden of Eden was a Biblical blessing. We were to work as caretakers of a perfect creation. The curse was that because of man's disobedience the labor would be now be difficult with no guarantee of success.
The God haters will even use a God they don't believe in to justify their laziness.

I've just read the most ignorant bunch of discombobulated nonsense ever written.
The God haters will even use a God they don't believe in to justify their laziness.
Exactly. It's like, huh?

I am no Biblical scholar. . . .
Well, DUmmie dsc, it just so happens that I am a Biblical scholar--I've got degrees in the subject, and it's what I do for a living. And you are quite wrong. The Lord God gave work to man--to be the steward of God's creation and to take care of the Garden--before the fall into sin. After the fall into sin and the resulting curse, work became toilsome and laborious. But work per se is a good thing; it's part of man being created in the image of God.

Remember when Adam was charged with naming the animals? That was work.
Remember when that happened? It was before the fall.

Remember when Adam was charged with naming the animals? That was work.
Remember when that happened? It was before the fall.
Remember when God created the heavens and the Earth? It wasn't just springing forth from his head fully formed. He BUILT these things with work, and set the example for his children to follow.
If you want to survive in God's universe, you're going to work for it.

Actually work is a Biblical punishment
The DUmmy meant to say that it was biblical, but only in a non-biblical way.

"Actually work is a Biblical punishment."

Seems to me the DUmmies are confusing hard labor and actual work.
Though to them work/employment IS hard labor.

They behave exactly as I expect for people who have never known the excitement of having an original idea and answering the question, "can I make it work?" with a resounding "hell, yes!"; never built something through the exercise of mind or muscle; never improved their own life, home or community; never felt the satisfaction of a job well done; or never enjoyed the fruits of their own labor.
King Hussein played those takers like a fiddle when he said that Makers "didn't build that".
-
In other words, they imagine themselves exempt from Adam's fall, sinless and divine.

Why is it that when a woman births a child it is called Labor ?
My Asians that I co worked with that were Buddhists, felt that work was a gift, a form or prayer.
Truly amazed me that the young pregnant woman would not stop working until their water broke. They in fact felt sorry for the woman that did not work up to the moment as those that worked had a faster and easier delivery. Or so they were told and believed.
Interesting that God for some reason decided to punish all females with all species with pain to birth, then instructs the men to spread their seed and not waste it on the ground.
-
Adam was a conservative, Eve, a socialist liberal.
Guess what the apple is.

Well Vesta do you want jizz all over the ground? It was a house keeping tip from God not to spread it all over the ground. :-)

Old time laws way in the past are interesting today, some say the Ancient warriors were forbidden from masturbating on the night before a Battle.
Today in our time there is a rule that athletes not have sex before a game. I know that this may be true from my hubby that was a competitor skater in his youth.
He learned the hard way, never made that mistake again. :lmao: Sex after, not before a battle of any kind.

I love it when DUmmies try to use the Bible to defend leftism. Any other time they squeal about separation of church and state.
I have found not working to be more punishing than working. Yeah hard work is tough, but after a hard day's work you feel like you are worth something. A day lazing around bitching about life makes one, feel worthless.
-
Once again Christians are reminded why we never should take seriously any Biblical commentary from atheists.

Well, the survivors will, anyway.

fixed that typo for you.

I don't use the word liberal anymore, liberal makes it sound like they are for liberty, I call them leftists.

I stand corrected :-)

I mostly use lib, but by lib I mean lib/dem/socialist.

He that doesn't work neither shall he eat......and that's why DUmmies hate God.

Even if you truly believe that all work is a Biblical punishment (I don't)...
...the correct response is "Lord, I submit; Your will be done; what would You have me do today?"
Not "we must expend the public treasury to thwart God's plan and create a work-free Eden with free forbidden fruit for all." That is, IMHO, literally Satanic.
