She gets slapped around quite a bit. Several DUmmies suggest she self-delete the thread, but DOrkangel insists it won't happen.
I predict it will be gone by noon today (Tuesday)

Carrying a pregnancy to term is a choice in this country. [View all]

Is it not?
ACA should not demand all females to pay for maternity coverage when we don't want it/need it.
In the meantime, men's prostate and breast cancer screenings are not covered.
So pregnancy matters, but potential deadly cancer does not?
on edit: It's a large campfire, and even generated a 'counter-thread' by Bain'sBane, here http://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=view_post&forum=1002&pid=3940712

120. I don't believe for a second that prostrate exams aren't covered
And why you should resent coverage for the propagation of the human species defies comprehension. This is about shit stirring.
Alex made a funny!

PS: Alex, it's prostate, not prostrate. You'd think somebody with a PhD in South American Basket Weaving would know that.

I was just going to grab this thread. Set aside the fact she starts on the premise of abortion. These next few posts are the most telling:

96. Prostate cancer screenings should be covered as well. Fight for that one. Not against the other.
But then it also comes down to a question: is the efficiency at improving health outcomes with early or abundant screenings (at the cost of allocating funds from other services) cost-effective? Also, did you know that more men die with prostate cancer than from it? That's a strange thing to think about.

85. Even single-payer systems have to determine what is "necessary"
Some systems deem gender change surgery and in vitro as necessary (I think Alberta has). Some do not. Here in BC guys can have their nuts tied up for free (I did). We can't have cavities filled for free, but tooth pulls are covered.
I don't have any issue deeming maternity as necessary personally; especially when the alternative to a 9 month term pregnancy is a risk of death (and illegal in many places)

CreekDog (38,506 posts)
214. first, why are you believing the poster that can't even spell pregnancy or maternity correctly?
second, just because regular screenings aren't part of the minimum coverage, that doesn't mean no screenings would be covered if they are warranted, just that unnecessary screenings aren't covered, but screenings for breast cancer are needed based on the prevalence and seriousness of the disease.
Translation: RATIONING
We said from the beginning that this would lead to rationing. They said we were lying to scare people. Now we see that they knew rationing was always a part of their scam and they knew it.

I do agree however. I plan on getting sterilized after this pregnancy. I shouldn't have to be forced to get maternity coverage after that, it does raise the premium pretty good.
I do wonder however if it is forced covered will more births take place? Will those women that use the "I can't afford it" actually go on to have the baby because it is covered now. Wouldn't that piss off those libs?
-
Someone mentioned something on FB the other day and I never got an answer to if it was true. Have any of you heard that in Obamacare that anyone over 76 with cancer gets no fighting treatment (cure) against it? Also, is there death counseling? forced?
Just a few questions I was wondering.

I don't think it would change those women. The 'I can't afford it' line generally refers to the nurture and care of another human being for 18 years, not the cost of delivering the baby.
I actually agree with dorkangel on this one. Maternity coverage should be optional. As a woman entering perimenopause and done with childbearing, screening for breast cancer and treatment of age related diseases becomes more critical to me; too bad the 'king' chose to take choices based on our stage in life away from us all opting instead to force people to pay for something they don't need while not having access to things they might need based on their age. Why anyone who has been sterilized should be forced to pay for coverage too is insane; how on earth is one even at risk in that situation of a pregnancy to warrant that kind of charge? However a sterilized woman can still get reproductive cancers and so can a sterilized male. not that it's news but the ACA is total horseshit. Oh and for the assholes there poo pooing needed cancer testing--early detection is the key in everything but the most aggressive types of cancer to effective treatment. This RATIONING is ensuring increased mortality rates into middle age imo. So funny the libs find this all so okay when I know so many of them who have pushed for mammography so hard in the past citing the early detection issue.

The Proglodytes will be more than happy to tell you that it's part of cost sharing, like how people with no school aged children pay property taxes to support schools (because dumb ideas get better the more you multiply them).
So, if I read this right. I'm paying higher premiums and deductibles to pay for the new enrollees and added services...
...but I'm also paying higher taxes so the government can give subsidies for these policies that are bringing in new enrollees and adding services.
Under ObamaCoup "expanded coverage" now means you are no longer just taking it from behind; you get to play pivot-man in a gay porn spit-roasting film.

That he does. I get that Snugs, I just wonder when the anonymous masses who are the recipients of these added services also do their 'share' of 'cost-sharing' and help to share the costs of screenings for the older people helping to supplement them too? There was some acknowledgment of that in some areas that starting homesteading retirees or when one got to a certain age for property taxes so they would not be priced out of their own homes as the helicopter liberal parents threw more of everyone's money at the schools. Guess cost sharing doesn't work both ways--we(those of us over 40) just get to be an open wallet until we keel over I guess. At this rate the memes of dog food eating elderly from the 70's will come to fruition--that is if one doesn't get cancer or any other old age illness before then. You'd think with the average age of the dump, they would be shaking in their boots over this. :panic:

And they know that. They are perfectly cognizant of that fact.
They will lie to your face or gloss over that fact but they know.
-
Maternity coverage (along with keeping 26 year old "children" on a policy and dental for minors) were the upfront freebies to appeal to those classes of uninformed, nonchalant voting blocks...women and the young.
-
Working men will get a prostate exam every April 15.....whether they want it or not.

We are all "Lucky Pierre" now.
The other thing the proglodytes are ignoring is the real costs of inferior plans. My old plan is 80/20 after my $3000 deductible. Now my new improved plan that has been reduced in premiums from $340 to $670 per month has a 60/40 with a $6000 deductible. I would think that even the unfathomably stupid DUchebags could see that I will pay more for less. That's not a step up. Most people do have employer insurance and by Obama delaying the start of employer mandate means a year delay until all those people get sticker shock as they will have to have the Bronze, Silver, Gold, of Platinum plans. NOTHING else will be available because of the cACA Obama HellCare regulations.
-
This whole Affordable Care Act is designed to destroy private health insurance and collapses the system. More people will be without health insurance and will "NOT" be able to pay their healthcare bills thus forcing many hospitals into bankruptcy to such a point that the government has to step in and take over the whole system......so what if the Bill Ayers 25,000,000 have to die, it will bring about the glorious communist utopia.

Actually our insurance only covers it every 2 years up until the age of 50.

The so called "architect" of Obamacare was on Megan Kelly's show last week. He is the brother of Rahm Emanuel. I watch that segment, as hard as it was, and that man is not only rude and nasty, he is crazy.
He has a theory that medical care for children and elderly should be limited and rationed. That the focus of healthcare should be on those that are in their productive years. Meaning that they can work and contribute towards supporting society government.

It wouldn't surprise me at all.
A woman I know, she happens to be a leftist as is her daughter, her daughter is a nurse, she told her Mom a few years ago that if she needs her hip replaced she better do it soon because the Government will have a weight limit on people getting knee replacements.

Billy did make a small miscalculation there in that a significant percentage of that 25 mil. are very well armed.

I work for a health insurance co..no such thing.
Death counseling? It's just plain old mental health/grief counseling. Not forced. Many plans had very limited mental health coverage and the ACA just made all plans offer it.
-
I actually agree with dorkangel on this one. Maternity coverage should be optional.
It actually cost the insurance carriers less to offer it if that makes sense. Sort of like how you buy a car today with options in packages instead of you picking out what you individually. Car co's found it cheaper to build a car that way than let people pick cafeteria style..
Adminstration cost is way lower when carriers offer all plan benefits to everyone. Put it this way you are not using it anyway..the same amount of people are going to use maternity whether it is offered or not.

What they could do then is leave it off and attach it as a rider. That's what I did.

I predicted DOrkangel would delete the OP by noon Tuesday. Missed it by several hours, but it has been self-deleted - despite several statements that self-delete would not happen.
It was a good slap-fest. The other DUmmies seem to dislike this DUmmies nearly as much as some of them dislike gNads.

304. About her nursing program
http://www.democraticunderground.com/1018480897#post12
It's an accelerated program. Started in July. Graduates in December. Just buying her first stethoscope in August. Getting job offers to work in Alaska in September to start In January.....
I'm an RN. Been since 2006
I know how nursing schools work
And I don't know of any nursing school that is an RN program that is less than 24 months long.
Most states have provisions for the minimum time a program has to be to be considered an RN.
12 months, including clinicals?
Repeated misspelling pregnancy...and breasts? Doesn't care to use the resources she has via her school to investigate online medical journals for the usefulness of PSA testing, and why it is not recommended?
I am an RN. My husband is an RN. Most of my friends are RNs. ****, I work around MDs and RNs and...well...I thnk y'all know where I'm going with this.
And, here is a helpful definition for the new wordNealK (671 posts)

Your disgebious catch was an excellent one. But quit resting on your laurels. You will be worth your salt if you use that and plonk in the same sentence !
